I remember those "Get a Mac" ad’s with Apple and all of the complaints of Windows Vista. I would of gone with Mac OS X at the time only if it was not so expensive. It was only until Windows 7 that I switched from Windows XP so I skipped it. But, overall Vista was okay, not good, not bad. I agree that Windows 7 is the best version of Windows.

Yeah windows and Mac had a huge price difference but a huge quality difference as well back in the day

@@makhirtech Back in 2005, macOS used to be cleaner, sharper and had a better-looking UI than Windows.
Windows XP had a classic design, but OS X (macOS) had a much better and cleaner design!
Nowadays, Windows is getting cleaner and cleaner, and in the future, Windows will be better-looking than macOS lol.

Windows 7 is a really good version of windows but windows vista was also really ahead of its time and I think that the worst version of windows is 8 (not 8.1)

Having had a laptop which came with Vista Home Premium, I didn't really have too many issues with the OS. While the UAC prompts were a bit annoying, the system was very stable and there wasn't too much difference between Vista and Windows 7 in daily use.

People don't realize that Windows 11 is still based on Vista, the major changes happened between XP and Vista, that's why hardware drivers from the XP era were not compatibles with Vista, but many hardware that had Vista drivers at the time work today with Windows 11, I plugged the other day an old Sound Blaster Audigy SE from mid 2000's and Windows 11 automatically installed drivers for it from Windows Update. And all the technology behind Windows Vista is still present today, the folder structure with the registry is the same, the driver model, the way it boots with the boot manager and the BCD, the way it installs in deploying a wim image instead of copying files, the DWM, Desktop Windows Manager for the graphics compositing engine, the audio stack, the Volume shadow copy for the backups, restore and previous version of files and so on, all this was not the same in XP and older NT based versions. Vista was Windows NT 6.0, 7 was NT 6.1, 8 NT 6.2, 8.1 NT 6.3 and Windows 10 NT 6.4 until the RTM release when they decided to bump the number to 10 just to make it matche the name and because the time had passed and it's was time to move on. That explain also why the minimum system requirements has barely changed since Vista, a 1 Ghz processor with 1-2-4 Gb of RAM and a DirectX 9 graphics card for the DWM, for XP it was a Pentium 233 Mhz with 64 Mb of RAM, that's why PC's at the time were too slow for Vista, so it got the reputation of being a resources hog.

Great video. I myself tried Vista about a year ago and using MyPal it was surprisingly stable and once you install the graphics drivers, boy is it beautiful. While I was too young to try it when it was at it's prime (or worst?) it basically felt like Windows 7 but much more focused on aesthetics than performance. I have used both on the same hardware and honestly while both are equally stable Windows 7 does feel more consistent in performance overall.

Vista SP2 with at least 4 GB of RAM was as solid as a rock. SP2 got rid of most of the annoying UAC popups, and Vista/7 really need at least 4 GB of RAM to work without issues. I know----back in the day I bought a brand new Compaq tower with Vista, and it only came with 2 GB---constant whitescreening and crashes. Today I run it on another Vista prebuilt with 6 GB, and same Core2 Duo processor---I think it's more stable than my Win10 machine

How did you get it to prompt you with a product key during setup? I installed it on a computer that was from around it's time, and it didn't ask me for the product key. I had to check under "system" in control just to find out that it was active for a limited time and that i needed to enter the key THERE instead of during setup.

10:50 I'd argue both 8.1 and 10 got a strong reception of 'meh', with 10 getting more and more live with updates(which lasted long enough it was almost a ship of thesis OS).
8.1 is probably the most MEH OS microsoft has done since 2000 or 3.0

    • @sketchy275
      @sketchy275 Před dnem +1

Hello, im late but heres an answer (with some extra details)
There are a LOT of ways:
-buy a win 7 disk and use that
      Risk: unlikely
Safety: Its a win 7 disk. If its microsoft, its safe
      Working Garantee: pretty likely
-search the internet for a disk
      Risk: likely
Safety: if finding a safe iso file, you good to go
Working garentee: likely. Not every iso tho. Some "windows 7" isos i found were actually xp isos.
      Where to find them:
You can find Windows 7 disks at places like market places, or ebay
You can find win7 Iso's at websites like internet archive. Its probably the best site you can get those. Your unlikely to get viruses at internet archive (no promises tho). You can also find a lot of other windows os'es like xp, 2000, vista, etc.
      Hope this helps!
