    ℹ️ About the Episode:
At the end of each season or series, we like to provide a recap to answer all the questions we've received along the way. After all, we want our trip to help make your experience even better and provide a shortcut for finding places and activities that are worth it. Nova Scotia was well worth the trip. A couple of the videos from this season made our list of all-time faves-and that's mostly due to the people. We know you'll have the same experience visiting. Nova Scotians are warm, welcoming and hospitable. They want you to have a good time in their home province, and there is so much to explore. We hope this episode makes it easier when you visit! In this episode, we break down our recap into the following categories:
Getting Around: Borders, pets, road conditions, ferries and fuel
Route: Is Nova Scotia "big rig" friendly?
    Food: Must-try delicacies
Money: Credit cards, exchange rates and cash
Top Sights: Top 5 things to do and see!
Resources: When is the best time to go, and how long do you need?
Places We Missed: But did we really "miss" Oak Island?

My Janny and I went”On and New Adventure” in 2012 to Nova Scotia. Our greatest memory were the people we met along the way. The local people who stopped in the middle of the road to help us find the campground we were looking for and then offered to lead us to the campground. There were 20 cars stopped behind them waiting for them and no one honked a horn! Everyone was like that. We love them!

My friend (who hails from the province) once taught me how to pronounce Newfoundland by the fact that it rhymes with "understand" so "un'-der-stand New'-fund-land". I always love when I get to visit the maritimes (from Ontario)

Our winters in coastal Nova Scotia include lots of freezing and thawing which creates potholes in the roads. The winters in the rest of Canada, except coastal BC are colder so the roads do not heave so much. It is something we and visitors have to accept here, caused by our milder winters. Repairs in the summer are always happening somewhere in the province!

We just got back from 2 weeks in Newfoundland. We don't have an Airstream (yet), so we did b&b's and took our little Ford Fiesta. What an amazing time that was! I surely hope you can make it to this province sometime. It's amazing! The people, the landscape, the food, the history - can't go wrong. We saw many RV's as well during our stay. We had 2 bonus days in Nova Scotia staying with friends on the East Shore. An all around A+ travel experience. I hope more people travel to the Maritime provinces and Newfoundland/Labrador. There's so much to explore! We live right along the ME/NB border. I'm glad you got to go the NS this summer!

Our 2020 F350 started doing all kinds of strange things on our spring trip. Dome lights coming on, DEF faults, collision avoidance off, all kinds of crazy stuff. Never once any error reported indicating low voltage from the batteries.
Finally, it didn't start one morning in Franklin, NC. I pulled the batteries and went to the parts house. One battery had a bad cell and the other was discharged. I was going to replace just one, but they made me a good deal on two, so I replaced both.
Installed the new batteries and VROOM! Big Booty Judy roared to life with zero errors!

I just returned from 4 weeks touring Canada, in many of the same locations. It was nice to see in the video some of the places I also visited! I disagree with you about the roads, however. The Trans-Canada Highway is TERRIBLE! Patchy, potholes, and the big trucks have worn "ruts" in the road which cause your rig to bounce around as though it was in a windstorm! Loved Nova Scotia, especially the Cabot Trail and Halifax. I also enjoyed Louisbourg, with its recreation of pre-revolutionary life. Beautiful country, and a beautiful video. (As a retired video professional, I appreciate the work you put in to bring us a new video every Sunday!)

As a new (well moved here from England 40 years ago )Nova Scotian, or "Bluenoser" as we are called I liked your videos, you hit some great places BUT I think you missed one of the best. Fortress Louisbourg on Cape Breton Island, It is a National Historic site that was, 300 years ago, the Capital of Nova Scotia then known as Ile Royale. It was owned by the French then English and back and forth a few times. During the summer the Fortress has people living in it full time, they dress as they did 200 years ago, even the entry gates are guarded by French soldiers who challenge you as you enter. I am originally from London England so am quite familiar with old buildings being guarded by men in strange uniforms, the Tower of London for example. Fortress Loiusborg may not have the Crown Jewels to look at nor can you stand where Anne Boleyn lost her head but for me the buildings of Fortress Louisbourg and it's restoration is, as a historic site , twice as good as the Tower. Just my two cents.

The Fortress of Louisbourg on Cape Breton Island is one of the largest if not the largest historically accurate reconstructions in Canada, maybe even in North America. You could spend the day there exploring the property and its many buildings, learning the fascinating history, taking you back in time with costumed animators recounting daily life in within the fortress walls and beyond. The Old Town Trail on the road to the fortress tells even more history of the settlement and you can visit the beach where the English soldiers landed before capturing the Fortress from the French for the final time, changing the fate of Nova Scotia and the French presence in North America. Learn of the link with Louisianna and its Acadian French connection. Across the harbour is the amazingly beautiful Lighthouse Trail which winds its was along the wild, natural landscape . Stay at the Northstar Resort near the fortress, a newly renovated resort on the ocean owned by the Scottish tv personalities and designers known simply as "Colin and Justin". The food at their resort is amazing and they are there to entertain their guests along with local live musicians. The fortress itself played an enormous part in the history of the settlement of North America and it alone is worth visiting. Expect fog and cold conditions in some seasons as it is perched on the North Atlantic coast. Enjoy your stay!

So glad you enjoyed your trip to Nova Scotia. Did you have a chance to visit the Fortress of Louisbourg in Cape Breton? We hope you can come back again sometime.

Thank you for capturing my home provinces so beautifully! I grew up in NS and now live down the road from the bottle house in PEI. Both are special in their own ways.

Say "newfen"......now say "land". Put em together. That's how you say it. Nothing puts us off quicker than saying it wrong. "Not from around here are ya" is what they'll say to ya. If you get the pronunciation right they'll love you for it.
Now I'm Newfoundlander living in Nova Scotia and I really enjoyed these videos. I've been here for almost 20 years now and this summer was by far.....and I mean by FAR, the worst summer I've ever experienced weather-wise. I hope you caught us during some of the decent days we had because there wasn't many. It's been such an unusual summer for us..... raining every other day just isn't the norm.

Oak island is not accepting visitors since 2022(maybe since2021) as they are using the visitor center for some new equipment for carbon dating artifacts that they fine😢
But that didn’t stop me from at least trying an seeing the causeway an the island from a distance 👍 also you should put Campobello on you list for next time an tour FDR’s home (it’s free) and there are 2800 acres to explore plus the Provincial park is just down the road an very affordable an clean

Awesome and very informative, love all of your stops and suggestions. I can’t help it,but I have to comment on the aerial video, outstanding! I remember the video Mark did about his arsenal of photography tools however I don’t remember seeing a drone. What aerial platform do y’all use? Love the great work and editing as always was spot on. Be safe and enjoy.

In Canada, the Mavic Mini, but normally the Mavic Air 2S. However, the Cabot Trail shot was purchased as we got bad weather and I think the Cabot Trail is a National Park area anyway.

Exhalant recap. Several times you say you saw things but didn't have time for them. How do you decide how much time to set aside for an area?
Love the traffic sines especially around Quebec. Had picture's of one you could tell yes it was in English's but had started out in French. One of the scrolling illuminated sines said "Traffic is proceeding correctly".

Newfoundland is worth the trip! If you go before the end of July you may see icebergs in iceberg alley. We spent 10 days meeting long lost family. Get screeched in ;)

Newfoundland is beautiful!! How did you find driving down the number 2 highway through New Brunswick with your rig? Drove through there on our way home last year and was surprised how few places for fuel there is.
