A Homage to the Mestalla Stadium in Valencia, Spain - Soccer Valencia CF

  • I'm not a big soccer fan and I honestly only watch it during the World Cup or the EM but for some reason I do love to go into a stadium. Not really to actually watch the game but to take in the atmosphere and look at the odd architecture you can find in some of them.
My favorite soccer stadium for sure is the Mestalla here in Valencia, where Valencia CF is at home. Smack down in the city, great views over the field and even over the old town if you sit in a zone called, Vomitories. Which is the seating area highest up and so steep that it makes you dizzy to the point you might have to puke, depending how many beers your had pre-game.
Sadly the Mestalla will be a thing of the past and will one day make space for yet another shopping mall, once the construction for the new stadium outside of the city is done. But as for now, these constructions might never end, considering the slow progress in recent years. Which would be great.

Dude this stadium needs to go. How historic it is, this stadium is a ticking time 💣 and its a matter of years before you see cracks. Just like Atlético Madrid vincente Calderon (old stadium before Wanda Metropolitano) was also on its last leg. Its better for valencia.

They should build a new one right where it is. The new one they're building outside of the city has no soul!

How difficult is it to get tickets to a game here? Would love to visit the Mestalla one day and sit in one of the steep stands! It’s such a unique stadium.

Go before they take it down. You can fairly easily but tickets online these days. To give you more reasons to visit, check out our article on our Valencia Travel Blog about the Mestalla: valencia.for91days.com/a-night-at-the-mestalla/

What you say is called "vomitory" is not accurate. The vomitories are the entrances to the stands of the entire field. In Spanish they are called that, since they are made and located to evacuate the field in the event of a possible risk of any kind. The stand you are in, as seen in the video, is the Grada de la Mar, translated it would be stand of the sea, which is the highest stand, built in the last extension in the 90s. And yes, verticality in the stadium stands, nowadays it is not allowed to build them, for safety reasons. But that increases the pressure of the public, since there seem to be 50,000 spectators on top of the field. Greetings.

Weird though that they had signs all the way up after the spiral pointing to the Vomitorio.
