In Avatar humans are probably the first of many intergalactic civilisations to visit Pandora in an attempt to mine it’s resources. Proud to say humans are officially up there with other advanced civilisations in these films
Yes, that's the point of the story. An alien invasion where _we_ are the invaders shitting on someone's lawn. The other inspiration is wildcat gold miners in the Amazon fucking over native tribes for profit.
Average people: Oh my god, they fight for their planet!😢 Alpha: Jake Sally - traitor of whole human race. Earth is dying, we need this planet for our civilization. Humanity first. Any questions?
I think people would quickly change their mind if they had to eat seaweed for the rest of their lives and live like the average chinese citizen in an overpopulated, resource scarced world
The funny thing is how over the top "mean" they had to make humans in this show to make them seem like the villains. Like the guy's O face when he shoots the Sentient whale. Also, it's not just a whale, it's a Sentient whale, because if they were just hunting animals it wouldn't be sooooo bad. And they don't just come capture wanted targets, they burn the village. This is a people that were able to drive them off the planet once before. You don't antagonize them more than you have to. Also, anyone else notice that Cameron's environmentalist is almost nostalgic in it's 90s simplicity? Bulldozer clearing forest and whale hunting?
"You will dwell in the trees, stalking your prey for eternity, until your sun burns out and your world dies; and above your tomb, the stars will belong to us."
All memes aside, that landing scene was breathtaking. Film clearly show you how humanity see Pandora, and what they will do with it. The most effective exposition of danger, in about a minute. Even if you didn't watch the first film, or still had some doubts who is good guy in the film, that scene just put everything in their place.

Humans : We had an empire to protect. We needed your resources. Everything I did was for the greater glory of Earth! And if you spineless scum had to be ground under, so much the better. Funny thing is that humanity tried to ally and make friends with the local population but they went all gorilla mode on us so we showed them how much a couple thousand years of warfare looks like. Humanity solos low difference
Because, we are the true power, the true dominator, the true conquerors. We are, humanity. And humanity will rule worlds, systems, and galaxies to come, for eternity.

director: makes humans in the most incredible dripp possible also director: makes the aliens win through a magical wierd animal mind control thing in the first movie, and scraps the origional story ending and then in the second movie completely forgot that we love avatar because he keeps making the humans so damn cool
"And even in those times, we could not know. We could never have known. We spanned stars, whole realms of the galaxy. They spanned a handful of worlds, a pathetic primitive collective of musical apes, nothing more. Nothing more we said! And yet we could not have known, not until we came, and found the truth waiting. Soft bodies, feeble minds, or so we had thought. What met us was iron, circuit, and a spirit borne of something we had only derided. "In our centuries of peaceful unity, we had forgotten the strength of division. The strength of grinding, of being tested, of bleeding from a million unnecessary conflicts, so that we would be invulnerable to the one that mattered. When we came for the humans, we realized too late that compared to them, we were but babes waving knives. And they were apes, savage and ruthless, every hand and every history stained with the recent blood of other apes. And that blood, long since spilled and consumed by generations, did pour forth as violence, and drowned us. "We came for the humans. Now they come for us."
I seriously don't undestand how humanity in Avatar is on the brink of death. They get their shit rocked in the first movie, lose all of their planetary infrastructure. Not even 20 years later they traverse the galaxy with a fleet, vaporize kilometers of land and built a whole city in less than a year. The sheer engineering capabilities they would need to do this would be enough to terraform Earth into paradise.
