We weren’t “officially” together but there was a sort of expectation to not flirt/sext/do anything with other people. A few months into our “relationship,” his ex came back into the picture and he started flirting with her ALL the time. I’d developed feelings at this point and literally up until that point he’d expressed a desire to make our relationship official, so I told him I wasn’t comfortable with this and I wanted us to be exclusively together and official.
His excuse? “We (he & his ex) just hang out and flirt.” Which as a double standard if I ever heard one. Dude got angry at me for jokingly telling some random “I love you” in an endgame chat after a videogame match.
We decided to call it quits because obviously things weren’t going to work out (I wanted a one-on-one relationship, he didn’t). But we tried to stay friends. That didn’t work at all because this motherfucker started getting jealous over complete non-issues like me being in the position to flirt with other men.
Let me reiterate for emphasis: *This man, who had repeatedly turned down being in an exclusive relationship with me, was now getting jealous if I was even in the position to flirt with other men.*
HE’D EVEN GET JEALOUS IF I OTHER MEN TO FLIRTED WITH ME. LIKE BRO, I CANT HELP IF IM HOT AND PEOPLE WANNA SHOOT THEIR SHOT, WAS I JUST SUPPOSED TO GO INTO EVERY CONVERSATION WITH MEN LIKE “btw don’t flirt with me! teehee!🤪”
He was out there getting jealous over all this, while flirting HARD with his ex girlfriend.
So yeah. Shit actually got really dark for a second and our situationship ended when he verbally harassed and abused me *because I joined a discord vc with men in it without him.* Again, while this mf was out here treating me like shit for having the audacity to exist within the premises of other men, he’s considering getting back together with his ex girlfriend.
These kinds of men never cease to amaze me with their bullshit double standards. They don’t want girlfriends or wives or partners, they just want to control the women they’re sexually attracted to while not having to commit.

In Islam, “talking behind someone’s back,” aka backbiting, is very prohibited. It doesn’t matter if you are a man or woman, it’s a sin with high consequences. Now that doesn’t mean you can’t vent to your partner about frustrations, but you should not go overboard in what you say because saying unnecessarily hurtful things about someone else is very wrong in Islam and is not tolerated regardless of your gender. As for the rest of the list, it’s just nonsense. Whoever this man is, and I’m assuming he’s Muslim, is not following the rules of the religion correctly and is just being culturally influenced. Islam does not punish women for having their own opinions, or getting dressed up, or having social media. Whatever he’s saying is incorrect and should be avoided. It’s wrong to paint women as people who are despicable, when in reality we are human too and deserve respect. A true Muslim man would not be so mad over such trivial things and would trust his wife when it comes to social matters. She’s not a dog, she’s a human being with intellect. I love how men like this see women being aware that they’re attractive as a red flag. Ironic how seeing that kind of thing as a red flag is actually a red flag in itself.
Men like this love it when women don’t find themselves to be attractive because it likely means they have low self-esteem and often undervalue themselves. And if all of this is true, then it makes them more malleable to abusive and controlling behavior because they don’t feel like they deserve better.
Men like this hate it when a woman is confident in her looks because it typically also means she knows she has options. And if she knows she has options, that leaves her less inclined to put up with their bad behavior.
I’ve seen men online say they like women who don’t realize they’re attractive because “what’s not to love about a beautiful woman who’s also humble,” but there is a BIG difference between someone who’s pretty but humble and someone who’s pretty but has low self-esteem and therefore doesn’t realize/acknowledge they’re pretty.
Not to mention, when a man really loves you, he wants you to feel beautiful. My husband is secure with himself and he encourages me to dress however makes me feel beautiful and comfortable and to wear makeup if I want and as much as I want. He would hate for me to 'be beautiful and not know it'.

I do think that it's totally fair to only want to date in your own religion, especially if you are looking to raise a family. Although I wouldn't phrase it as a 'red flag', that phrasing is kinda weird. More like 'a sign you might not be compatible in the long run'.
Yeah calling it a "red flag" is weird but having the same or similar beliefs as your partner, be it religious or political or what have you, is just part of compatibility. Some people may not care about their partner's religion or lack thereof, but for others it's something important in their life that they want to be on the same page as the person they're gonna spend their life with. Plus, spreading your faith is one thing, but you shouldn't go into a marriage with the expectation that you're going to change the other person, because one or the other of you is gonna get tired of that fast.

From personal experience... I am an atheist and was dating a Christian woman at one point and we both tried to make it work but in the end it just didn't work out without anyone being in the wrong.
Well a good example is basically my step mom and maybe father worship a god who intends to torture me for eternity for no possibility for parole since i’m a non believer. So they can’t really say they love me and god. They have to pick one.

I'm glad to hear you say that about "talking behind other people's backs" because like. if someone is hurting you, of course you're not going to feel safe telling someone if the person hurting you is right there. that's what abusers want but it also just isolates people, you have to be able to talk about what's going on
i absolutely agree, although i do think there is a difference between talking behind someones back in a venting manner, and talking behind someone's back in just a plain nasty way. like obviously talking about how someone makes you feel and your experiences with them to someone else is completely okay and necessary, as opposed to spreading rumours and being a bitch for no reason behind someones back, y'know? hopefully i explained that ok lol.

Nick is so right about venting. Getting out minor grievances to an uninvolved third party instead of bringing up things and creating unnecessary fights is good to do to get that anger off your chest. If it’s a bigger thing that is seriously affecting you then of course talk about it to people if you want to and maybe get advice. But with major things, if you want to continue the relationship (familial, romantic, or platonic), then it’s important to communicate those issues with the person they are about too.
But yeah I hate the ‘don’t talk behind peoples back’ thing. Like nah fam it’s easier to just vent these feelings to someone else and get over it without a big argument or any other issues. Most of the time anyway. And sometimes you can discuss things with your friends and get advice to implement without having to get into it with the main subject.
It's only "talking behind their back" if you're deliberately trying to make them look worse and you're talking to someone who isn't a partner/family member/close friend that you should be able to vent to without them telling other people.
Venting to someone you think you can trust is different than deliberately trying to smear someone's reputation and it should be treated accordingly. I feel like the only people who don't respect that (at least in principle) are people who are insecure because they're afraid their partner's confidant will point out red flags and encourage them to put their foot down or leave if the behavior is bad enough.
A lot of people seek out partners with low self esteem to boost their own ego or not feel bad about their own insecurities. Goofy behavior🥴

I would love to see how holy the man who made the tweet is. It's unislamic for him to be judging women who have nothing to do with him, that's haram.
