Today, I BOUGHT THE FASTEST SNOWMOBILE IN THE WORLD. It cant probably be argued. Arctic cat did it in 1998. They made the fastest snowmobile probably. I found this out with a few minutes of solid research. Clearly I know what I know what I am talking about. 1998 ZR 600 efi. The fastest snowmobile in the world. Now I cant lose at the Ditchbanger nationals at ERX motor park right?

I bought one brand new in 99. I think I paid around $7k. I got it up to 100 once up in Maine on a groomed downhill. Great sled. I wish I still had it.
Yeah on a downhill, but straight say you may see only about 90 to 95.

I just bought a redone,every rivet ,every part 2001 zr 800 new that was converted late 2001 to a 900 factory refit. Hayes cluching and primarily. Its powder coated and so clean with 2600 org miles, its got paper work 121 mph. Boss seat everything is stock. I just bought Bergstrom triple point Skaggs and has 192 studs. This baby's going to rip someones ass. Great video

lol they are fast but the 1998 1000 holds that title As of 2016, when the NSSR last posted updated speed records, the 1998 Thundercat had held the stock 1000cc speed record for 18 years, with Paddy Olsen riding one to 120.893MPH

I had pretty much the same exact same sled and I was able to keep up with my buddy who is on a 2020 race sled through the trials no problem that is a fast

i got almost the exact same sled with some clutch mods to go about 110 mph max and my stock mxz 583 blows right past it so i think that article is a little wrong lol

LOL my MXZ and I watched one blow up the fastest! The guy drove five hours up to Maine took the articcrap off the trailer hit the lake his first speed run his fu fu engine threw a rod right threw the cases REALY FAST LOL
That sucks. I feel like there are similar stories with each brand tho. Sometimes, there is just a lemon in the group. Taking a look from the outside, it seems like it ends up being personal preference on brands. Love and MXZ! We have a local snocross series called grassroots, and it is dominated by Skidoo.
I’m sad you retired the Yamaha, but that Arctic cat with fresh shocks will be a more capable machine. You might just not have the same amount of ladies hanging around.
The yamaha isn't dead! We are going to try and keep it as a trail sled. It works great there. As for the ladies... less distraction. I'll meet mine on the podium😏
I'm looking at getting a 2003 zl600 ss. It needs the secondary clutch rebuilt, but other than that it runs good. He wants $750 for it, so can't go wrong with that price. Do you think there's much of a difference between this one and yours?
To be honest, I don't know if there is a huge difference. I believe the body changed a bit after 2001 compared to the 98. The only thing I can see is that the ZL is most likely more of a trail sled compared to the ZR. But I feel like they would feel basically the same. Great find, too!🤘 I hope you have a fun and safe time ripping that thing!
That thing is overrevving like crazy. Maintain the clutch and calibrate it.
Properly restored Zr 600 is most motor any average rider needs. I’ve driven A VMAX 4 which will leave the 600 for dead on a strip, but I didn’t like it at all. One trick pony. She’s carry the skis for a mile, but don’t ask it to turn quickly. It’s like asking a dragster to rally cross.

Yes specifically designed to crush my wind pipe over most driveways and whoops🤘🤣 It is a bit sketchy but it's for suspension adjustment

My sleds( 2022 Polaris switchback assault 850, 2016 Polaris switchback assault 800 ,2009 RMK dragon 800,2003 RMK 800 but engine swapped with an engine made for a professional hill climb racer and it can run nos)
