- This is a morning cold-start and walk-around video for the new owner of this 1996 impala SS. The car sat for 4 years in Florida and Geo is the new owner. He is having me give it the "once-over". I found a few wires plugged into the wrong place and wrong tune settings. Most were easily fixed. Nothing majorly wrong mechanically. One neat thing about this car is that it has a 4L80E transmission. The TorqHead ECM/TCM can run that just like a 4L60E.

sounds great idling....I don't remember the last time I saw Callaway valve covers on an LT1
The previous owner mentioned that he was a big fan of the Callaway SS back in the day.
I’ve always loved the ss’s -especially the ones that sound mean like this one🇺🇸💪🏽
This is awesome. Great work. I want my fleetwood to sound like this, but quieter of course. It needs a nice engine like this.
Nice Car.....Sir I went with the Torqhead and it works nice. Thanks for all the tutorials...they really helped......I am going to need additional tuning and they got it close with the specs I sent them...If you don't mind answering is there a wideband O2 sensor that can replace the factory narrows in the car? That plug into the factory connectors preferrably. I am sure my local tuner has a wideband to tune with but hopefully I can learn it myself. Thanks!!
I’m sure somebody makes a wide band that can output a narrowband signal but I can’t recommend any but any of them because I have not used them. Sorry about that.
Sounds healthy, what type/size mufflers?
He has hooker headers and then a hybrid sort of custom pipe system under it. I cannot tell the brand of muffs. It is a 3.5" down pipe to 2.5" main pipes. Sorry, no real info there. :)
How did he get the 4l80e transmission to work behind the lt1 and is the torque head setup very easy to install
When I was under the car doing the look-around and oil change and o2 sensor replacement I looked at the installation and they used a custom crossmember. The wiring is the same as far as I know and the tune is available in the 0411 PCM that TorqHead uses. Just do the pull-down and select 4L80E in the HP tuners. I don't know about the installation ease. I've installed TH400 and they were easy and you can use the stock crossmember. This looks to have a longer tail shaft.
Man I hate caprice chrome trimmed taillights on an impala.
me too....don't tell anyone I said that.
@@EllweinEngines 💯 lol.
