- Let's face it: The 1990s were a lousy time for GM cars. Sure, the dark age of CEO Roger Smith was over, but there were still few cars for GM devotees to celebrate. One of those few was the 1994-96 Impala SS. Big and bland, the car makes even the most caffeinated person doze off just by looking at it.
Inside is a different story. The Impala SS was an homage to the big-muscle sport sedans of yore. With its Corvette-derived LT1 V-8, the Impala generated numbers unseen on a full-size American sedan since the early '70s.
How far can it go? In this episode of EF, we look at Ron Miller's 700+ HP monster to see what an Impala SS can truly achieve.

I owned a 95 grey green ss,i raised my family in that car then sold it! Then a couple of years later bought a 96 black so and still own it today, its getting a modern ls 6.2 liter pushing 700 hp and will keep it till I die!

I was 6 years old when this car came out it was my dream car and I’d vow to get one two days ago I ended up buying one the same exact color I love it !!

I have such huge respect for these cars, and American cars are on the lower end of my interests. So cool this guy is so far from the typical old dude to rock 700 hp and use it! A true hot rod guy for sure.

I owned a 95 ss for 10 years now. Definitely a great purchase. A solid quality well built cruiser that only gains more value every year as it gets older.

700+ HP car but don't get to hear any of it...instead get a bunch of spacey "music" which does not suit the car or owner, the lack of engine sounds kinda ruined the feature

I have a feeling if I saw this car I'd just think its suspension had collapsed and it had an exhaust leak. Uber sleeper, especially in that color.
+Ethanmeister The stock suspension sits pretty low as is. Ground clearance is 5".

Yeah.. At 1:00 he does a burn out a long way away from the mic, and drowned out by music. Around 3:00 you hear the engine start, again drowned out by music.

he is young at heart, age means nothing. I am 73, female owner of stock ‘96 Impala SS, 28,000 miles on the odometer, and just gorgeous. Husband is not allowed to drive it, since he abused it, and some other stupid things happened, so I wanted the car, and it is all mine.!!!!

I have a 96 impala and 00 impala and personally I like them the same no the 00-05 impala didn't have to power as the 96 but it's still a good impala the 00-05 the 96 has power but not the gas. mileage the 00 impala has so I like I said I like them both
