This was my dream car as a kid and I finally bought a black 96 when I was 26. Two years later and I've installed tubular upper and lower control arms, front and back sway bars, lowering springs, rear trailing arms to center the rear wheels, rebuilt the LT1 with a 355 hotcam and aluminum heads, header back exhaust, 3k stall torque converter, rebuilt the 4L60 transmission, full aluminum radiator with stronger fans, 160 thermostat, and external oil cooler. Still have a ways to go, have to repaint the entire car next and fix the faded interior and cracked leather seats. But I love my car, will keep her as a family heirloom to pass on to my kids.

I am a 72 1/2 year old woman, who loved the sixties Impalas/. In late 1995 I bought a 1996 model. Now, in 2019, it has 27, 750 miles on it, all original , even the icky radio. She is so clean, always garaged, not parked in shopping areas, not driven in rain. She definitely resonated with me I made my husband buy it. Now he is only allowed to be a passenger. Wow Jane what a story and how time flies right!? When you bought your car in your late 40s I was 13 and someone on our street had one. From that point I was hooked. Lo and behold I got one last year but unfortunately sold it to help buy our first new home. Now that we're settled in I'm looking again. Interesting the contrasts in our ages yet we share a common interest in this automobile. Just driving it is pure joy. I'm very impressed with how low the mileage is on yours. It must be in tip top shape. I spent some time working for a GM contractor that did customer and dealer support. I got to talk to a lot of GM retirees to get the paperwork for their discount at the dealers. Great stories from a time that is long gone. They really don't make them like they used to. Fun and safe driving! Blessings. Julian

I saw my first Impala SS(96) at the local dealer in a very small town. I was 21 and did not make enough money to even attempt to buy it. I always dreamed of owning one and never had the opportunity to purchase one until now almost 48yrs old finally got the chance and money. But lord it was hard to find one someone hadn't modified to the point of ruining it or one in proper original condition. I had to travel 12hrs round trip to get it but couldn't be happier. I chose the 95 because it has all the updates w/o floor shift because every vehicle I own are column shift so I prefer it.
