- A year ago, one of the very first laps of the year was in the Russian Chevy Impala SS "Police Interceptor". The only problem? Us speaking Russian most of the time and me hating to type subtitles. Until today. Enjoy!

Смотря твои видео я сначала думал, что ты всегда едешь по трассе с серьезным лицом. …а потом ты заговорил по-русски. Смотреть как Миша проходит повороты и отпускает шуточки бесценно. Нужно больше контента с интересными тачками!
It's good to see that old V8 running about and stretching it's legs. You don't get those very often in other countries. They are typically domestic machines that never leave the continent. Glad you enjoyed driving that rolling couch around the 'ring. They don't make them like that over here anymore.
I've got a '95 Caprice as my daily driver here in Finland.
@@Oliver-rt4yl That's awesome! 350 Chevy V8 by any chance in your B Body Caprice?
@@CentralTexasRailJetProductions no it has the standard 9C1 package 4.3 liter V8, sometimes called the "Baby LT1"
In saudi arabia and kuwait there are alot of them we drove them more than u.s. did
I've owned one, a 6.6 litre conversion. The steering is a "gearbox style" found on old trucks here in the USA, not a rack and pinion. They are notorious for getting gear mesh "play" as they age. 1,800 kg is correct. Single piston front calipers are a drawback. Rotors hold up well usually but slotted used to be a big improvement. Believe it or not there used to be a Porsche caliper conversion for the front. Opti-spark was the main drawback to this engine. The distributor ran off the camshaft in the front of the block but because it was directly behind the water pump it would get hot and misfire. MSD made aftermarket parts to help the problem. Police interceptor parts and SS parts are mostly the same except for coolant hoses. Spring upgrades were popular but more important was the swaybar and rear control arm upgrade. More or less it's like driving a living room wherever you go 🤣.
Well some of us don't need subtitles. I even noticed that the subtitles are let's say "incomplete". Definitely the best video of 2022 so far!
🤣🤣🤣
Fill us in! What are we missing?
@@AndrewMalkin swear words and wordplays that cant be translated
Yes! I've been waiting for this one since you originally showed the car. A 96 SS in DGGM was the first "fast" car I ever owned. May not be the fastest car around the Ring, but they are still fun cars. Plus, they're built like a tank, I survived a crash at over 120mph in mine.
Oh dayum!
Same here. Looked like a creased shoe in the front still made it out alive
My first car also! I will own another one someday.
The 93-97 Camaro was powered by the same 5.7 LT1 V8!
@@exponent5290 And the C4 Vette, Caprice 9C1, and the T/A. It was a pretty decent motor.
Соболезную тем, кто не понимает русский. Субтитры и близко не передали всех приколов) Крутой видос, спасибо)
Listening to the banter and jokes while doing that lap made me smile and laugh. That kind of fun is priceless!
I have been waiting for this one. I have personal interest since I had a Caprice with the same 5.7 V8 engine, it was like driving your living room sofa and this Impala SS is a ”sportier” version of that, basically a cop car underneath. I’m a huge fan of these full size land yachts, there’s nothing like them anymore.
В голос орнул, спасибо за контент!
That looked like a fun lap, it continues to show you can have a lot of fun in a slow « not built for track » car on the nordschleife.
I want that sticker in the nickname

Thank you for going through the effort of adding subtitles, Mischa. I’ve also been excited about seeing this lap for nearly a year. My SS was the first car I searched for, traveled cross country, and drove back. I had a lot of fun modifying it, racing SCCA, and winning a few car shows. Probably spent more time than I should have on that vehicle but it was a passion that was hard to control. Glad you had the chance to experience driving a couch around the ring.
The last RWD Impala SS for the generation before the FWD conversion four years later. That Impala SS still rocks.
I think this is one of my favorite laps. Having gotten my licence in, what is basically, the 1976 version of this car, I was laughing all the way through this. Thanks Misha!
Nice video and thanks for adding the subtitles Misha, albeit veery censored ones 😄
Love my impala and loved my 96 9c1 (police package). I'm a strong believer that the GM b-body cars are hands down the best all around car for the money (well kinda... they're sky rocketing in price). Once you do all the bolt ons stall and gears and a proper tune she's a perfect modern muscle car/ comfy cruiser .
Yeah i don’t get why it says impala interceptor i don’t think that exists
@@iSpitGame Export market, for instance, the model name was Caprice SS in Saudi Arabia. "Police Interceptor" is Ford nomenclature, fwiw. 🏁
I really dig the giggle inducing drives. Although you didnt know it at the time, this is a great birthday video for this old man to giggle along with you gents. Thank you and cheers!
It was awesome to see the Impala SS on Nürnburgring :D I can totally relate to the steering, it is not the fastest and most precise on these GM B-Body cars but holy crap these are good cars!
It makes perfect sense. I don't know how many here have been to the US or Canada but everything is straight 😂. So you don't really need good handling just a massive engine to catch perpetrators.
We are in a time machine or something lol. I love these old videos! Hope you have more of those old laps to upload!
This video brings so much joy to my heart, love seeing one of the Greatest classics to ever grace the streets get the privilege to roll out in fashion like this🏁🏁🏁
TeamSS
Another addition to the Nurburgring boating club 😁
Nice sailing there, Captain!
I’ve always loved the 90s Impala SS, and really the whole B body series in general. Nice to see these cars around a track.
This is great. My daily driver (I'm in the USA) is a 1996 Buick wagon version of that car called the Roadmaster. It's a lot of fun to drive around.
First v8 i drove was a wh caprice and it felt like a Time Machine when you put your foot down as a 17 year old.
That sensation of floating when you start hitting the 150kph mark is undeniable hahaha
An icon of a car from my teenage years! Thanks for the ride-along!
That's amazing! Seeing the POV gave me flashbacks to driving those 80s & 90s GM cars with their over-boosted power steering. That was a lot of fun to watch.
First boat to make it through the Ring.
Did you see that video where they took a Ram TRX around the ring? Spolier alert: they cooked the brakes.
This bings back so much memories from my childhood! My dad had one when we were living in the states.
Easily the most fun lap I've seen. I've still got one of these (my second) and they are reasonably sporty but do the long haul trips perfectly. This version has many of the modifications of the Chevy 9C1 (Special Service Package) which was a much loved police car. Police Interceptor refers to Ford Products....in either event...thank you for the great video.
Finally, I’ve been waiting for this video since you first showed the car. I had a 1994 SS BBB. Tell your freind to have bushing installed between the frame and chassis. None were put in at the factory. That’s why it feels like it’s flaoting. Car feels planted with them. And, it’s not a “Police Interceptor”. Chevrolet based the SS on the 9C1 police pack version. Translplanted a LT1 Corvette engine, blacked out the car and named it the Impala SS in honor of the first SS in 1964. I had my first +200 km run in mine.
I was thinking the same. "Police Interceptor" is only a Ford thing ppl think it's just a term for any cop car. I gave him a pass because he's Russian lmao. And the first SS was a 61 impala SS. 61-69 then 94-96. And they did install body bushings just not as many as the 9C1. I've had both. His are probably worn
Yep the stock impala SS for some reason didn't come with the 3 front lower body bushings making a ton of play between frame and body hence the floaty feeling.
I have a 94 BBB, t56 swapped.
@@nikothevirgo wasn’t sure about the 61-63 years. I had a 94SS and a 64SS a long time ago :)
@@dannyadams1748 that's one bad ass duo!
@@nikothevirgo and both of them were black!
I like the "censored" subtitles 😅
Fun stuff! Just needs some Corvette brakes and an LS3 swap and it could be a fun taxi.
That car came with the LT1 from a corvette.
The most gangsta chevy
I've been waiting for this since you spotted it in the car park!
Hilarious, Misha! I could tell you had fun on this lap...
one of my favorite cars, love the channel an your content.
So many LOLs! Too much fun! Excellent!
this vid made my day today Mischa -- ty
This would be right at home on the Autobahn. The Ring, not so much. Very comfy daily driver if gas price is no issue. One of the best engines ever. Also wow what a difference a year makes. You weren't kidding on looking different. Well done.
"From Russia with Love!!" --- "You're Welcome Here!!" xD hahaha fav interaction
This is amazing! I had one a few years back
Great video. I have owned the 96 Caprice version with the tow package and now own a DGGM 96 SS. Both cars had issues with steering input with very low kms. This car does not have a steering rack. The steering box can be adjusted by loosening the nut turning the hex screw in the center clockwise a little then tighten the nut until the over center free play is acceptable. This will reduce the steering input required and give better stability. This adjuster is located on top of the steering box. Easy fix, I hope your friend has it done, then do the ring again.
Fun run! Thanks.
That was a great video to see. I hope Master P the rapper saw this video, he used to have an Impala just like that one but it was a built one with like a 1000 horsepower, sick paint job, wheels and a system
AMAZING. It didn't fall apart or melt the brakes. As a Canuck I still see these on the streets. Mad respect for the change in cars from GM from the 90's to like the CTV Caddies. Отличные веселые мальчики!
I used to have one of these! Awesome vid. I always wanted to bring my 96 cadillac fleetwood to the ring. Its on daytons but has full qa1 stage 3 coilovers, built trans and shortened impala ss rear end. It would be a laugh. Not to mention there is 10000 watts in the trunk. To see something that big moving and bumping would be epic
Wow, a stock one too. That totally made my morning. God I miss mine 😢
Даешь второй канал с хиханьками и хаханьками на русском :) очень понравилось)
совсем другой vibe, неожидал
OMG I am just now seeing this post a to an impala SS Facebook group . This was beyond awesome and I am two weeks late
Man, thanks for taking that Big Bad Boat out on the Burg. You have to have mad skills to muscle it through the curves. Wanted to share the correct details about the 1994 - 1996 Impala SS with you all. It never was sold with the Corvette LT1. The Impala SS prototype created by Jon Moss for GM was a 9c1 (Caprice with the Police Package - HD suspension and cooling) with a T56 six speed paired with a Corvette LT1 with a monochrome black paint job and unique interior seen in your buddy's SS. A retuned LT1 5.7-liter (350 cu in) small-block V8 (OHV push rod) was standard on the Impala SS, making 260 horsepower (190 kW) and 330 pound-feet (450 N·m) of torque (retuned from the prototype's 300 horsepower (220 kW) rating). The primary difference between the LT1 in the Impala and the LT1 that was in the Corvette and Camaro was that the Impala engine was fitted with cast-iron cylinder heads instead of aluminum ones, and a camshaft that was designed more for low-end torque than high-end horsepower. Another difference was that the Impala LT1 had 2 bolt main bearing caps while the Corvette LT1 had 4 bolt main bearing caps. The LT1 has reverse cooling for a 10.5:1 compression ratio, uses 87 octane fuel, cam driven water pump and the a optical distributer mounted on the front of the engine driven directly from the cam. The impala SS came with 3:08 rear gears and a Auburn POSI differential. Dry weight is well over 4100+ pounds. 7+ second 0-60mph. 15.0+ ET and low 90 mph for the 1/4 mile. Now you know! Drive fast! Don't die!
Inspiring. I'm definitely tracking something like this one day
Holy moly what a transformation of you camrad Misha,
God jobs Woking out.

So cool. I have a 1991 Caprice Classic and it’s still going strong. The idler arm steering rack does have too much play. Love the Impala SS
Those old Caprices floated everywhere. So much play in the rack 😂
That was hilarious, thanks for the subtitles, Rj in Oz
These impalas are amazing cars
Это лучшее видео из всех на канале.
I have a 96 Impala SS and I wish I could take a tour of the Green Hell also...that looked Fun!!!
Great title, great video
The amount of swearing censored out in the subtitles is amazing lol 😂🇷🇺👌🤞👍
Today's episode with the under-titles reminded me of the Best MOTORing Classics. Just with Russian instead of Japanese :-D - Fun to watch!
corvette powered land yacht! there was a police video back when this was on sale where it literally outran the chase helicopter xD
Regarding the steering you can improve it with a Jeep steering shaft from a late 80s-early 90s Cherokee. Polyurethane body mount bushings gives it a rougher but tighter feel when cornering. Lowering springs and beefier sway bars also improve the handling of this massive machine. I’m planning on adding a 12.0:1 steering box to mine in a few weeks. I’ll report back with results if you desire. Lastly, I’m upgrading from 17” wheels to 18” to get some better tire options. I heard that rubber screaming on the turns lol
The amount of banter and swearing was hilarious, Russian language is the best :))
Маты то ещё не забыл) красавец)
I've never seen a POV drive of the Nurburgring, and the choice of vehicle creates a most unexpected driving experience. Is that actually MILES per hour? Considering this car's chassis dynamics date to the early 1970s, I salute you for the bravery in taking it up to those speeds!
Really enjoyed this video
Would love to see more "odd" vehicles don't even need to be fast
Hell yeah, B-bodies. That interior looks too nice to have been from the standard cop car. Either way, this thing belongs on the autobahn. Big American yachts like that will cruise along at high speed all day in supreme comfort. We had a GM B-body like this on a cross-country Lemons Rally, and it was hard to do the speed limit even in our non-SS version. It just floats right along!
Cool video 👍🏻
Interceptor name refers to Ford police vehicles only while Chevy uses "PPV" and dodge uses "pursuit". The Chevy impala SS had the 5.7L V8 LT1 Corvette engine from a C4 Corvette. They did 150+mph with just 260hp.
самый веселый онборд из всех что я видел на этом канале))))
Amazing Impala
Well I don't need to speak the same language to know how much fun you guys were having on that lap, exactly what TF should be about 😎
Nice lap 😀
Nervous as I'm watching...I own a SS and they don't handle all that great just for cruising only LOL!! Glad you're having a good time!
That was a really good drive to not overcook it, I was hugely impressed that the old barge made it through the whole lap. What other cars from 94 for similar money do you think would be a fun drive for a lap?
Awesome! Those tires did look a bit old. I own a 94 Impala SS and put a 6 speed in it.
Main thing about this car is fun, if it provides the fun then that's all that matters.
The subtitles 🤣 for all the people who don't know Russian you missed out. Just perfection.
Your channel really shows how important brakes are.
Good video
Er zijn vast aftermarket upgrades beschikbaar om de weg ligging te verbeteren. En dan een grotere "airco compressor" er op zoals Cleetus Mcfarland heeft gedaan op de Marauder.
Excellent 👊🏽😂😂😂great fun
Great video awesome car
What a tank rock n roll 🤣🤣👍
Never thought i would see in Impala on the Ring! 😂
1:44 that 36/94 means tire was made in 36th weeks of 1994 which makes it about sep 5th of 1994
“Extra room in the steering box”…lol IKR, Misha? Those are pretty highly prized here in the USA. I always like to say American cars that are built for comfort (like the Impala shown here) drive like a “flying couch.”
Big car, heavy car with the corvette engine of the time but with cast iron heads.
GREAT car for very long road trips. Has the comfort and the speed when needed.

I'd really love to some Aussie Muscle content.... especially a certain green Holden Torana SLR5000 that also lives in the Nürburg area.
what a cool car
Great fun!!
Thank you for this wonderful video gentlemen. Yes I'm quite familiar with this model. I drove a 78 Caprice for years tricked that baby out. unfortunately as they say in nj, you can't out run Motorola. So when they get these guys talking to each other no matter how fast I'm going they can block/catch me.
This is the BeSSt video you have ever made !!!!
Great video as always Misha, car looked way better than I ever anticipated, perhaps it's the nice suspension :). P.S for easier subtitles, have you tried first uploading the video to YT with original russian, then use the auto translate to get the text and fix it yourself? Still takes some effort to edit but beats the hell out of doing it fully manually and from scratch
A lot of it was inaudible for YT to translate unfortunately
@@mgcharoudin 🤣 Seems you were destined to do it manually... But I want to thank you on behalf of non-Russian speakers and I want to say your effort is noticed ;) I am a content creator myself and I can totally understand how many HOURS you must have put in making content
