    I tested it in december and got 220-230 km of range in temperatures around +1 C, rain and 110 km/h speeds, so I'm not surprised seeing your numbers. It's a decent first attempt from Volvo, but it simply will not do. I also had trouble with voice navigation where I could say the same thing repeatedly and it would only understand it one out of three attempts.

    A 195 km range under those winter conditions. Hmm! Where I live it is quite common during the winter to experience the temps - and lower - you tested under. The nearest city to me, and a city many of my fellow residents drive to to visit family, friends, etc. is about 700 km's away. So, with that range you would have to charge up 3 times to make that drive. You had better pack a lunch because it's going to be a long day!
    I've seen Tesla charging stations in my area where they have notices on them stating that they do not work below -30 degrees Celsius. I guess you had better book a motel along the way because you could be stranded before you reach your destination. I think I'll stick with my old internal combustion engine. I may burn some gas, but at least I'll get there!

  • @wowwow4942

    it's exactly the same powertrain as a polestar2, and it's heavier and less efficient as a SUV, so it must more thirsty than a Polestar 2, it's quite a normal thing hence volvo try to protect the battery pack which made the car so heavy, one thing I concerned is that is the P8 without auto-hold function in non one-pedal mode

  • @MrT_PityTheFuelHeads
    @MrT_PityTheFuelHeads Před 3 lety +7

    If your XC40 P8 has a heat pump and when you navigate to a HPC, e.g. Ionity, Volvo will start preheating the battery ca. 15min before you get there. Then you can achieve 135kw (peak) at HPC.

    I have this car. Got on December 4 soon driven 4000 kilometers in just over a month. The car is amazing. But it's thirsty. Heavy SUV 4x4 with 408 horsepower. I have come 270 kilometers on full battery this winter with 20 inch tires. Then with minus 6 degrees Celsius. Now with minus 20 degrees Celsius, it goes 200 kilometers. In summer it does another 400 kilometers. Hope Volvo comes with battery heating and that Volvo buys in so we get cheap fast charging. Everyone who sells electric cars has bought into a company. The car is very good to drive. A luxury car.

      Interesting how somewhat unpredictable this car is other than it is very thirsty. I live in USA where temps are almost always of 0C and most of the year temps are 4-33C. that 194km range is 120 US Miles, that is rather limited, but still ok for me as long as I keep it charged every day. Also most of my driving would be under 90km/hr so hopefully that would help/

    Does this car have a heat pump? I know that it is optional including in Norway, which is very strange. In the US, it is like a $500 USD option, 655 Euros in Germany and 5,200 NOK in Norway, which seems ridiculous given the price of the car. It should be standard along with pro pilot.

    With regards to the PilotPro not being available on this car; could it be that it has been removed by Volvo for MY21? Jaguar removed it from all of their cars as well following changes in safety regulations. It seems however that not all manufacturers have disabled their lane centring functionality for MY21, it may depend on how conservative their legal departments are.
