Winter charging test with my Volvo XC40 Recharge Twin 2024. Without active preheating and also after been parked a little hour.
How bad can that be?

Thanks for sharing!..
Itâs going to be a great year for me!! Itâs the year I actually change my Renault Zoe for a Vauxhall Combo Life Electric with the Wheelhome Vikenze IIIe camper conversion.
Car companies should give each car produced a proper test of how long itâs going to take to charge it up, and how far itâs going to travel rather than just putting a WTLP, or whatever it is number!! The best test for ANY car is a member of the company using it on a daily basis, not figures counjoured up by a testing rig.
True, but then the conditions are always different. In WLTP itâs not.đą
@@markvanloo309WTLP is just a theoretical fantasy figure,in the same way as mpg was for ICE vehicles. The range will be different for every single journey in reality.
Happy New Year!!
Same to you đ
Nice to see. If you get an even colder night or even temperatures like this, do you mind posting a video of what speeds you get while plugging in having had the car parked overnight? So with a totally cold soaked battery. I remember having an (old version) e-Niro rental in winter, and driving it cold soaked about 10km on slow roads, to fast charge it for 30min and driving it back again. After that I just wondered why I bothered as I used almost as much energy as I put in... That car charges shockingly slow with a fully cold soaked battery. While sitting an hour will leave a fairly cold battery, it will still have quite a bit of heat in it.
Understand your thought. Would be interesting to try that so if I get the chance I will try that. But for today's test. Yes I had just been on a long trip. But the cold battery warning was active from 100% and all the way down to like 15-20% SOC. Didn't see exactly when it went away. I'm guessing it went away when I got the short range message. So the battery should be quite cold in todays test. But still want to try a overnight test. So will keep that in mind if the opportunity appears.
