I know that it may sound like flattery, but as an artist from the moment you opened the sketchbook I was impressed! Even your early “bad” sketches showed me you had a good beginning understanding of proportion and form, something that can take new artists years to master. Keep practicing using references and learn your fundamentals, and I think your ability will skyrocket! Art is a lifelong journey, and even the masters can always learn, so don’t get discouraged.

ANYONE CAN COOK except in this case its !!anyone can draw!! i hope you continue drawing, its frustrating but rewarding at the same time. and to anyone else wanting to learn to draw: DO IT !!!! you're gonna be great. at first you may think its pointless, but if you ever feel like that, take a step back and draw something silly and fun. don't focus too much on being perfect, and take breaks. sometimes staring at your art for too long can make you think everything is terrible lol but you just need to come back to it at a later time and realize its not that bad. be kind to yourself. give yourself the same treatment you would to others
Honestly, the fact that he found drawings hands and feet easy is incredible.
Thoes are things that many artists struggle with.
Yes that’s what I’m saying!! But he still hates them 😭
Remember that using reference is not cheating! In fact, it's encouraged! Learning to see shapes properly is as big part of drawing as drawing itself. You have to first put stuff in your head before you can release it from your head to the paper. Please keep going! In a weird way this made me feel proud of you!
luuseri
in art school we always learned to draw portraits with a mirror if we didn't have a model for reference

This is actually really inspiring, I love to draw but there’s def room for improvement. @@tillnachtigall580 I understand that but there is a certain amount of coordination and fine motor skills that kids lack.
THATS WHAT IM SAYING IM STILL STRUGGLING WITH THE TECHNICALS
i love that when he started to use reference he started to like his drawings more lol it's a lesson all artists learn at some point😂
That's what I was thinking! As a pro artist, drawing from reference is a must (before drawing from imagination) + Adding your personal interest makes it even better (in this case an anime/manga he liked)
omg please continue this wonderful hobby!!
I LOOOOVE videos like this. We need more videos of people learning to draw! The journey is so heart swellingly fun to watch as an artist
You give an example that drawing can be learned, not just a talent. “Practice makes perfect”
Perfect practice makes perfect
Tbh I'm not even sure if that counts for artists...most artists I've met have said that there's always more they want to improve lol!
I literally could not draw any of this given any amount of practice. I could get better but there is definitely an inherent talent in the ability of some people to draw. I'm in awe of people who can do it but I just can't get shading or drawing in 3d, I think my brain just doesn't work that way.
@@kent2574 perhaps you dont have to shade or draw in 3d. finding your own style and doing what works well for you is apart of the drawing process, and learning how to draw
imagine spending thousands of hours practicing a skill just to have it called a talent
As an artist, I can confirm you did an amazing job, artists always bump into a wall and sometimes we lose our motivation when we can't think about something new, but you did well, overall drawing improves with time, If you keep going you might learn how to draw portraits one day
He has the artist trait "always self judges his art in ways that he'll never accept them to be good" 😂
In my personal experience learning to draw is relatively simple, but it's also such a SLOW and gradual process that you can't easily see your own improvement, and the emotional torment of that is BRUTAL

After all these years, you never fail to inspire me Felix. I underwent surgery to fix my right shoulder and I couldn't use my right hand on my fullest for a while because it hurts, but this video inspired me to try to use my left hand to draw for awhile until my right shoulder doesn't bother me anymore. I miss drawing in general because I have a burnout in art in general. But watching you learning to draw again made me realize it's not too late to love art again.
This feels like my beginnings and I love this is it what doing art is about and how it starts practicing and practicing and when you make small victories here and there it makes you rejoice.

PART TWO!!! THESE ARE SO SO GOOD
Ik a lot have commented, but as an artist, you actually had quite a few drawings from the beginning that were really good! You seem to have a pretty good sense of balance and proportion from the start which is enviable imo. It was wonderful to see how much more excited you got about drawing when your art style ‘clicked’ with you, when you have that moment it’s like you can’t put down the pencil!
!!
For 30 days, that’s hella impressive. Don’t beat yourself up for not being as good as Nihei Tsutomu or the guys in the tutorials; those guys spent YEARS mastering the basics (perspective, shading, and stuff). For a hobby, your drawings on day 30 are a lot of people's dreams 😂 If you really want to push it to the next level, you can watch Proko to understand and practice the fundamentals. Keeps drawing!

im finally getting back into art after a rough couple of years and this was incredibly inspirational to me. thank you for having the courage to share your work and experiences with us
as an artist, looking at your progress for just like in 8 days as a beginner, I'm actually impressed that you can already form faces and expressions. and for 30 days of just practicing and sketching day by day, you made a lot of improvement! which is pretty impressive because a lot of beginners struggle with facial expressions and angles, especially when they always focus on the aesthetic rather than taking it slow and study how their characters can deliver different emotions.
tldr: YOURE DOING PRETTY WELLLLLL!!!!!
Same I’ve been drawing for maybe like 4 years now? I think I’m really good at drawing character designs and rendering

Well spent time achieves much more that lots of time spent .
@@Reiken2007 It's actually the opposite! The biggest difference between a professional and a noob is that a professional has a REALLY good understanding of the basics. Because basics are not just the "noob" part of drawing, they're the foundation that everything else is built on! So they're actually the most important, and that's why anyone can start drawing, practice the basics and learn how to draw :) Sadly a lot of people get lost in the details, which is what can make them feel like they're not improving, because the basics are actually way more important!

these are honestly so impressive, especially the feet and hands. they are so flowy which is such a hard skill to learn, as when you use those circle line guidelines it can end up being so wooden, well done pewds!!!!!
Currently in my 3rd year of Art school and I cannot stress enough - ALWAYS USE REFERENCES. You can always tell when references have been used or when you are drawing straight from your head. My teachers always stress the importance of reference. Amazing start Pewds! Also, don't be hard on yourself. Drawing humans is literally one of the hardest things to learn to draw.
But that makes you always dependent on some reference. I would love to be able to create something from my mind but it's too hard and I don't like the results
@@nanelikahya9949the more you draw with reference, the easier it will be to eventually draw from your head😁 this is because when you draw from reference repetitively, you’ll remember how to draw certain things and then apply it. Then you can draw whatever it is you’d like one day 😌
@@nanelikahya9949 seeing something constantly can tie it to memory. This works across different media too. I sewed a couple cosplays from the game Bloodborne and now I can draw the outfits from memory because I spent almost a full year studying references of them
@@nanelikahya9949think of your imagination like a library. Or a dictionary. You need to add to it first, and then you can pick apart and apply those things later.
@@nanelikahya9949 the reason why people can create drawings without a reference is because they drew them so much with reference that its ingrained in their brain. look up the late master kim jung gi, he'll tell u that exactly.

This is really good improvement. I started drawing as an adult and it can be extremely hard to get over the mental barrier of "I am too old to learn this by now", or feeling like a failure by each drawing you make, as if it is the proof that you will never be able to draw.
But I think a benefit of learning to draw as an adult, which goes overlooked, is being able to establish a genuine interest in trying to grasp the fundamentals of art early on.
Here you definitely captured what makes drawing fun; making your own problems and trying to solve them.
And if it ever feels cringe to draw anime or manga as an old man, then just remember that the author of Blame! is 52 years old.
I love your vids bro
The reason it was so hard at the start is because the human face is one of the hardest things to draw. We're instinctively all pros at recognizing every tiny detail of peoples' faces, so when one thing is drawn wrong, it looks terrible. Plus there are a lot of complicated forms. You did a pretty amazing job considering.
This is a really great approach to learning to draw, good job Pewds! The next time someone asks me about how to approach learning to draw and the progress they’ll realistically see, I’ll definitely recommend them this video. Being taken along on this little journey was a delight, I’d love to keep seeing where drawing takes you.
This is just the motivation I needed to get through my art block after seeing what you did in a month compared to what I’ve done in years has given me drive fueled by spite, envy, jealousy, and fury so thank you
you dont know how much this video means to us artists - with the increase of people using AI, not bothering with the fun of art, us artists losing our jobs, seeing someone with such a large following and community post a video like this is giving me hope :)
funnily enough, the advent of AI art pushed me to learn how to draw for real. Having agency over what and how you do things gives me so much joy.
Well, AI is cheap and generally does the job at putting together a decent image if not a great one with simple prompts and within like 1min. Course if I want something more sentimental made, I'll be commissioning an artist, but understand that times change. AI is trendy, new, and works for the most part.
@@IntertwiningRoseswow what a perspective. i find it haunting how people are just so fine with using ai to “generate” images when they’re simultaneously discrediting and stealing from other actual artists
@@sangletan7076 Honestly same. I tried out an art AI for fun not too long ago, and it made me appreciate my own art skills even more
@@daes04 It isnt stealing if the original piece of art is changed by more than a certain percentage. Especially since its changed so damn much to the point whatever AI makes is never able to be compared to whatever art it may have pulled from.
Im just stating why people use it. And that it does what it says it does. Never said I'd ever want people to sell generated art, but then again artists are doing that and using AI to complete/enhance their pieces.
So to say it is a wholly bad thing is ignorant.

As an artist, i can attest that 90% of what you draw will be crap and you'll actually like 10%. But if you make twice as much crap, you'll make twice as much good stuff. For me, learning to accept imperfections and trusting the process was the most difficult in my journey.
I'm really glad you shared this because it's made me realize that I've really been stagnating and need to challenge myself more. You've improved so much more over a month than I have in years and that's amazing!
Here's to both of us becoming better artists! I hope you keep updating this journey. :)
Disagree totally. 90% of my draws don’t look like crap. Some may look bad some may look better but to look like crap that’s maybe a bit too much. I get your point in accepting the imperfections but you also should fight for good results and do your best everytime and in every chance you get. ❤️
You should be going for 90% good and 10% bad results. That’s should be the goal, so keep practicing

What is the best way to start drawing ? Should I start focus on one body part and be perfect and move on to next part or all in one what the best advice can you give me ?
@@Ahmedsalah-rx7dx Try drawing five people without reference, then take note of the body parts that you think need the most improvement.
As an artist, your art is honestly great for how long you’ve been drawing! There are some drawings of yours that wouldn’t look off in my sketchbook and I’ve been drawing for my whole life! If you keep it up you’d be incredible. I think the reason why you don’t see your art as that good is because you already consume a lot of art in your day-to-day, manga and anime and I wouldn’t doubt artists on Twitter and Insta, that can make your brain think that those masterpieces are the standard and you’re behind, but honestly your art is way better than most people’s after a week or so, which also probably comes from your regular consumption of art. The fastest way to improve is by doing studies, anatomy, poses, colouring, composition, but studies can be really tiring and it’s good to make sure you don’t overwork yourself in a rush to improve, most artists will almost never be happy with the work they make because they know they’ve either made better or someone else has so just because you don’t like a particular piece you made doesn’t mean it’s not good, you can just see the small flaws better than we can
Bro draws better than me 💀 (I've been drawing for 13 years 💀💀💀💀💀💀)
This gave me a huge realization. I could learn so much more if I just dedicated my time a little more to what I want to get better at. I've had so many things that I wanted to try like playing an instrument or even just getting better at a certain game. It doesn't even necessarily take that much time to do, about a month of work is all that it takes to get decent. Thank you pewds
I think it’s important to also draw for fun, draw things u enjoy, just drawing to learn can suck the soul out of drawing in general, at least that’s how it was for me, but this was really great! You improved pretty fast!
I’ve been drawing for about ten years and I have to say it is insane to see someone learn so quickly and make such good sketches within that little time
Kinda pisses me off hahaha
@@sugondeseeI felt like a bad person cuz I was thinking the same thing
Pewds has talent
@@sugondesee FR BRO HOW ARE YOU SPEEDRUNNING MY CAREER RIGHT NOW…
as an artist, I love seeing this. Love that you pushed yourself to draw every single day, even if it was a small sketch. Which in and of itself, drawing DAILY does make you improve a ton. The improvement from beginning to end looked AMAZING, believe it or not.
Keep at it like ya are and you can DEFINITELY create some cool shit.❤
kinda wanna see him do one of those like challenges of 1min drawing to 1 hour drawing just trying to understand a certain body form sketch to see if he can understand how to draw certain poses.
haven’t watched you in awhile but this vid piqued my interest. always so awesome to see someone new getting into drawing. keep it up pewds, i hope to see more art from you
I love this so much. I teared up a bit coz for sure, it is never too late to learn! I proudly started learning how to crochet this year and I'm 30years old. I can't say I'm fully pro at it but I'm enjoying the process a lot and seeing what I'm creating makes me so giddy. So glad you picked up on this Poods and they all look so good. I was actually thinking that the chibis would be such good merch too! ♥♥♥♥♥
Man, as an artist I can tell you, even the first pages from the first days, it wasn't bad at all!!! You have some proportions knowledge even before actually studying it! Really proud of your progress! (and trust me, art is always a painful and suffer path 💀)
It sucks so bad when you have a good idea but cant translate it to paper
Yes, as an artist as well, his art was pretty good for a beginner!! It’s sad that he isn’t proud of it though

as an artist, i think this is incredible. it proves that ANYONE can learn to draw if they put their mind and dedication to it. ive been drawing all my life (mainly portraits and animals) and i still struggle getting expressions right lol so seeing how he was at the end made my jaw drop 🙏 good job pewds
the key here is that he changed his goal. He was aiming for a more detailed anime art style at the beginning, but at the end he choose to do cartoons. Which is deceiving.
I really admire this dudes drive and determination, drawing was something I wanted to be good at as a kid and now I might try again
You did an awesome job! You can really see the improvements
as an artist who has been drawing forever, i still can't pull off a 30 days prompt challenge. i still can't bring myself to draw for 30 days straight so seeing you do it really impressed me let alone seeing how quickly you improved
You can do it someday, too!! I believe in you
It helps strengthen your hand muscle skills though. You could do it just for yourself instead of posting to social media if that's what's worrying you.
It's just 10 minutes though. You can draw while you're taking a dump in 10 minutes.
@@reduXstereo sure, but the inspiration and motivation don't come with the snap of a finger which, i wish it did, but art block (aka blank page syndrome) can hit you easy when you try to draw constantly
@@breewashere i have never thought of social media posting being a reason for it, but i guess it makes sense, i always post my stuff online
“I drew my first Marzia” there’s so much packed into that subtext. That is such a wonderful thing to say, and I hope one day someone will point out “that’s my first freckles!” And love me in that way.
As an artist who is constantly being complimented but never thinks she’s good enough… you’re doing fantastic. And even your beginning stuff is great!
Honestly just doing a little every day, warmups, testing, drawing the same thing over and over, mimicking your favorite styles and redrawing art from manga… you did everything right. That’s exactly where I started, and exactly where MANY talented artists started! And the fact you willingly showed us your progression is astounding. Art and writing are the most intimate parts of myself, I share with my family and close friends, not the Internet. I pick and choose and frame and crop and filter everything I put online… so big props, Pewds! Lotta respect for that one, seriously
feels nostalgic, I started drawing 2012 or something. keeping filled sketchbooks is a must.
Dude in all honesty, its crazy how good you got in such little time- I’m in art school right now and even my classmates were talking about your quick improvement!! I always tell people you can learn whatever tf you want, if you just put enough effort into it you can definitely do it- you’re proof of that!!
