Man. I hate to say it but i have an adopted brother who is 7. Im 26. This kid has everything I could have ever dreamed of and more at his age. Yet he goes to school, bullies other kids, breaks shit, and threatens to kill anyone who opposes him. He has had the cops called on him. He is on the spectrum, but he isnt stupid. He just acts on every impulse he has. He doesnt care about consequences and he lies about what happened even if it is caught on camera. Its fucked. I wish I could be his age and put him in his place. He cries like a little bitch whenever he gets hurt, but doesnt give a shit when he hurts someone else. It pisses me off. I have a kid of my own and I wont let them near him. He doesnt even get punished properly. I remember having my toys and shit thrown away and being grounded for weeks on top of getting my ass beat for small things. He doesnt give a fuck about anything man.

I used to have a gaming addiction as well when I was younger, but luckily for me my parents were much more careful about my habit. They would limit my playing time to 2 hours a day, which in retrospect I’m thankful they did. I don’t have that limit anymore, but I feel like me growing out of the addiction has earned me the right to take care of myself. Still, I’m so grateful to have parents who actually knew how to handle obsessions like that. To think that there was a chance I could’ve ended up like this kid, who is the same age as me mind you, is horrifying.

I live by myself, have 10 or 12 hours work days, depending of the day of the week, go to bed VERY late because of gaming and still get all my shit done. Been gaming before I moved out but NEVER talked that way to my parents. Literally was doing cocaine, speed and weed for years while I was living with them, had some tough times trying to quit and STILL never talked that way to them because I knew what would happen if I did. If you don't raise your kids right they won't shower with no addictions at all

That kid needs to be alone in the house for a week, he needs to cry ,lisen to sad music and reflect. His mind has not had the time to think or reflect over the gaming situasion beacus the gaming is a distracion and takes up all his brain. At no point did Phil or the parents even consider the fact the kid had issues from the beginning which made school bad for him. Video games are FAR more often than not an outlet for another issue that is completely ignored. I imagine this kid's primary issues to begin with were: absent Father spending 2hrs a day at home and very obviously faking passing out when he has to deal with conflict, kid probably being bullied at school and thus dropping out, and a disabled Mother who also has absolutely no conflict resolution skills. I'd assume his entire life was geared towards this outcome.

First one that came to my mind immediately is cataplexy, it’s when your muscles just give out, and it genuinely usually happens when you have a strong emotional reaction! It’s associated with narcolepsy, which makes you lose any rythm and control to your wake/sleep cycles. The second one could be catatonia, which can present as immobility/deactivation where the person just gets stuck in a position and can’t won’t move or react OR excessive/uncontrolled mobility/movements and activation. Catatonia is related to different psychiatric disorders, like schizophrenia, bipolar, even depression etc.

Lets be real, the mom is a huge enabler and loves being one. Regardless of how people feel about spanking their kids, the father at least tried something but was immediately blocked by the mom recording them. And based on them (but i think mainly her) pulling their kid out of the camp, im positive she enjoys enabling him for the most part. Shes clearly one of those clingly parents that usually raise mamas boys where she has to be the priority in their life. Im sure if the kid just took a bath at least, she would be happy with whatever else hes doing.

There are so many problems with this situation it's actually pissed me off. First, as a parent you shouldn't even let your kid have that much power over you I know the mom is disabled and there are some difficulties regarding that which sucks, but she obviously has problems that aren't related to her disabilities if she let her kid become like that. Also the dad is terrible at disciplining, when your kid isn't listening you shouldn't threaten them and beat them, you can just take their privileges away (video games is a great privilege to take away). Finally, if the situation with disciplining your kid has become too extreme, the last thing you should do is go to Dr. Phil where your child will be ridiculed, just take them to a regular professional or something. Anyways, I hope the parents get their shit together so their child can actually thrive in the future, it sucks to see a situation like this and I feel bad for parents, but much more I feel bad for the child.
