- Jacob cooked up some hot tips and tricks for the Moog Matriarch this last week and we decided to share them with the world!
Jacob takes full advantage of the Matriarch's powerful stereo filter as well as it's interesting feature set as a semi - modular - paraphonic synthesizer to unleash some unworldly sounds and interesting tones.
For more details on Jacob's tips, check out his Signal article: www.perfectcircuit.com/signal...

very interesting and new approach of this fantastic synth wich put a smile on my face each time I am using it since last year. very well filmed and impressively reach info.
I'll be revisiting these tips many times before it's ingrained. Thank you!
Wow, this was so helpful, I second the request for a part 2! Also, love the way you explain and share your knowledge, subbed!:)
Great stuff! Not enough Matriarch videos out there.
Thanks for all the tips!
This is gorgeous stuff. Made me cry. :')
thanks alot, love it!
I've had a Matriarch for 2 years and never knew the top attenuverter normaled into the bottom one. so cool!

@Nigel Day they're called attenuators but they can invert signals ccw
@D D Day esq An inverting attenuator is an attenuverter.
Wow!!! It's fire! Thanx!!!
I would definitely watch another matriarch one!
Brilliant ! Love it. 👏👍. Your Signal article is excellent btw. I learned a lot ! 🙏
awh yes! glad you checked it out!
Thank you a lot!!!!
Very very interesting.
Thanks!!
Thank you for this video and the article -- great stuff. Would it be possible to clearly diagram the patches? I'm unable to re-create some of the patches otherwise.
This was great. Would love to see some hot tips for the UDO Super6
Exceedingly eloquent!!
Nice job, bud.
Un Moog de colorines con sonidillos extraños. Como me gustan los juguetes caros. Saludos españoles 😎
very cool, whats the device he uses at the end next to matriarch? makes it almost sound like a subharmonicon!
6:04 Broadcast / Tender Buttons sound exactly!
Any idea how to reproduce the last example w/o MIDI?
Fuck... you made me cry
This thing is absolutely amazing, but I don't know anything about synths so I have a question 🙋🏻♂️
Can you save any presets on these types of synths or would you have to basically "reprogram" all the dials every time you want to change sounds?
Nah, semi modular synths doesnt have pretest 😕 athough you can take pictures of the patch to recall later 😀
More videos pleasssse
Weird thing about Matriarch. I got one more than 1.5 years ago, and made A LOT of music with it. I literally fell in love with this great synth. But after a year I decided to sell it as I got tired of that sound, not that it's bad or something, but it became kind of boring to me. I sold it, and started missing it! I got another one, was really happy for the first month with it, and now I'm "meh" again. Thinking of selling it again, even though I know it's stupid 🥴
matriarch could do very different athmosphere but it demand a certain effort, going out of well known way, patching on very innovative way, testing different configurations of switch… And then you enter in new universe.
I really like the grandmother. Been on the fence thinkin of upgrading to matriarch but i finally decided its not worth it. Grandmother covers enough of a moogy sound pallet for me and theres other polyphonic synths at the same price point of the matriarch that have way more features. Matriarch is a lovely luxurious synth but im gonna hold off for now.
@@Frakaphoto Totally agree! I made a lot of releases using JUST my Matriarch - pads, basses, all kinds of effects and even all drums. Also, there is "Having fun with Moog Matriarch" series on my channel where I try to push its boundaries. The thing is that it has its certain sound, soft and mellow even while being gritty and dirty - it's still that soft and "clean" in some way. It's really difficult to explain. And that made me pretty bored even considering the fact that Matriarch is really "vibey" and inspiration to work with.
I'm thinking about Pro 3 though... It may sound really aggressive and it has a lot of great features.
@@DietSodium Pro 3 is quite a different beast. Definitely more versatile with 3 totally different filters and an awesome sequencer. Only 3 osc though (one is digital), only 3 octaves keyboard, and limited integration with modular.
But I cannot imagine how one could ever get bored with it.
It helps me to set my synths aside and come back to them after a while. I have a habit of just sitting and listening to my synths and it causes them to sound stale after a while. I just love the way they sound. After buying and selling quite a few, I'm learning to just set them aside and only use them sparingly. Some of them are shelved for months at a time.
Do I need to get a synth?! This sounds so rad.
Did you get a synth?
@@martinallott572 no...:-(
is it possible connect ipad as external input and play ipad synth on the moog keyboard?
If you got a camera connection kit and used USB MIDI from the Matriarch keyboard, you could control an ipad synth, and then use the external input to moniter and manipulate whats going on!
Ughh how do I get that sound at 3:00, do you have that written out?
A year+ late but just put the vid in 1080 and pause on the over head shot. Then you can pinch zoom around the matriarch control panel and easily see the knob settings.
