What's more worrying is lack of care. Is everyone just clocking in and out and grabbing a paycheck or will someone step up for then wellbeing of oakland

Oakland doesn't need more money to stop retail theft, Oakland needs to elect politicians, like a District Attorney, mayor and city council members who will prosecute crime.

You still need money to run a city. You can't run any place on leadership alone.

@LostChildOfTime crime in oakland is NOT a matter of lack of money. Crime is oakland is a result of three problems: 1) the non pursuit police engagement policies of not allowing police to pursue thief criminals unless a violent crime is also involved 2) selecting a soft on crime district attorney (pamela price) and 3) Prop 47, which removed punishment for most thief crimes. If you removed the three situations, crime in oakland would substantially decrease

Just like that high school swimming coach who missed the deadline to submit his team for swimming finals and now they can't attend the swim meet.

Another option would be to not expect the State to give Oakland $15 million. Another option would be for Oakland to fund its police department and prosecute criminals. It's not really that hard.

I'm glad the people in this comments section don't run cities. Everything to them is unsurprisingly black and white. Cities are far more complex for such thinking.

It was intentional on the person in charge of securing the grant to make the mayor look bad.

Even if the money was granted, all it takes is for. Pamela Price to conduct her usual release of the perp if no one dies. If someone does die, she will give the bare minimum plea down sentence.

No need for an audit. A DEI hire dropped the ball. Schedules and deadlines are racist anyway.
