- Fathis Ulven was an assassin who had the misfortune to work for the wrong client. He spent over a century imprisoned in the darkest depths of the imperial city dungeons, before being shipped to Morrowind. There he eventually became the archmagister of Great House Telvanni, and the Nerevarine of prophecy - a reincarnation of the ancient war leader of the Dunmer people, Indoril Nerevar. Beneath Red Mountain he slew the devil Dagoth Ur, and took the fabled Heart of Lorkhan, using its divine energies to become a god, just as the Tribunal had done before him. Then, however, things suddenly all went a bit wrong...

"That's the difference between a necromancer and a mad man." Quote of the video.
I live and die for the NPC Companion Fashion Show✊
Havent seen it pointed out, but ordinators conjuration perk tree actually does have “bone collecting to summon skeletons” style necromancy in it! Not sure if they grant conjuration experience while being used but it is in there.
Ordinator is almost a must-have, it adds so much flavor to the leveling system. If only we could swap out level-ups for skill-ups (a combination of both would allow leveling of NPC's as the PC's skills increase.)
They do, they work a bit like buff spells, they grant xp when combat starts.
Do you think Fathis likes how much easier magic is now? No failing to cast spells, no resting for hours to get your magicka back, good magicka pools not being limited to Bretons and Altmer etc. It took him a long time to get any combat relevant offensive spells in Morrowind, yet here he's already Absorbing Health.
Oh and do check out the conjuration perk tree, Bone Collector is pretty Fathis necromancy, gather bones, build a skeleton and you have a permanent minion. You can build an army of undead.
im so glad to see youre still making videos dave, dont ever quit
Im head-cannoning that Fathis's struggling with combat is due to him being an older gentleman trying to fight with a weapon type that needs high agility 😂
The NPC saying "Something's wrong," as you approach the floating moss. :D
27:41 Good old Skyrim killmoves getting canceled partway through the animation and leaving the enemy invulnerable until you proc a killmove again.
By the way, Ordinator's conjuration perks have a branch involving, uh, "assembling" permanent skeleton minions. Fathis might be interested in that.
31:25 on the making potions to reduce weight front most ingredients weigh between 0.1 and 0.3, with more of the former than the latter. This ends up with brewing potions on masse often increasing your encumbrance as potions weigh 0.5.
Quest item's display a weight in the UI, but don't actually contibute towards your carry weight. If you don't believe me then dump all non-quest items from your inventory and look at your carry weight.
Also another broken thing about Ocatos Recital is that it gives you full XP for the spells it casts, it will make you level very fast if you use 3 buffs, unless you change the leveling speed in uncapper settings.
Ocato's Recital is great for those who don't want to think about Alteration but it does let you boost it without ever casting it. Esp with Ordinator, there are some really cool perks in Alteration, but it gets to the point where a warrior somehow has this secret knowledge of magic despite never fully casting it. I never did much with conjuration with Ordinator but I imagine there is some cool stuff in there.
Get the 4 person tent. Plenty of room for everyone. Just make one of the fellas carry it. I think it weighs 30 lbs. When you came out of the barred door, just off to the right, and down the hill a bit, was the Tomb of Red Eagle. Just throwing it out there.
The golden apples i think are a reference to the Golden Apples of Idunn from Norse Myth, which could cure illness and reverse aging and whatnot
I will say, I hope you reconsider doing the Dawnguard DLC. For two reasons:
1: Fathis meeting Jiub again in the Soulcairn would be amazing. Also I think Fathis would have a very keen interest in the soulcairn with his interest with necromancy..
2: I think meeting a Snow Elf would be rather interesting for Fathis. Especially considering sane ones are practically non existent.
It’s crazy how you’re able to drag out 1-3 quests in one single episode and make it entertaining.
9:51 I’m just gonna drop it here because I don’t feel like digging through the comments. The campfire will work better and farther away the more wood you put into it. The father stages of the fire heat you up more
"Uhm...no, give it back" 😂😂😂
12:20 let's see if we can scale the cliff face also known as sky rimming it 😂
I actually switched to Vokrii from Ordinator (same author) when I set up my last Skyrim installation, and I love it. For me, it hits the sweet spot between the very vanilla-esque Adamant, and the rather OTT Ordinator. Though, tastes vary, of course.
Anyway, really enjoying this series. Cheers!
I was about to comment on how you were against using Ocato's Recital but were making op bat poison, but you anticipated it! Haha
Man, I'd really love to see Fathis encounter the quest mod Project AHO. It'd be fun to see how he reacts to Telvanni slavers in Skyrim
I don't think the weight of quest items actually counts unless they're no longer quest items. Whenever I pick up the stone in Bleak Falls Barrow my weight never actually seems to increase +25. Great episode btw!
This is correct. All quest items are weightless until they are no longer quest items. You can even carry stacks of them and they'll all weigh 0. I think ymfah did a full playthrough with 0 carry weight.
Fathis saw the northern lights!
You know whenever I play Skyrim these days I can never go cross-country, I always follow the roads
How long till Dave finally admits he is still playing these games just for the fashion. He has companions for even more chances to play dress up XD
45:50 At least it meets the technical definition of the word "circlet", which is a step up from KOTOR.
Don't stop doing what you're doing, broski I love the voice acting an everything
For convience you should consider spell hot bar. Works great and spells still cost magicka, but you can hot key spells for quicker casting.
You're kinda right with ocato's recital being broken. Thanks for mentioning my comment lol.
I honestly liked the look of the vampire armor, and it has a good enchantment boosting magica regen. but then again, its labeled "vampire armor" which is off putting
Did anyone else catch Inigo at 46:41 right as the interior started loading, "You don't have to be crazy to live here, but it helps."?
Dave, I'm sure this doesn't help because you've probably already played it even if you haven't uploaded yet, but Red Eagle's Ascent is just an interior alternative path to the one you took outside, leading to the top of Sundered Towers. If you really want to get rid of the sword, you need to go into Rebel's Cairn and fight the ghost of Red Eagle; the entrance is near the second tower, the one the drawbridge leads to. Not that it's actually taking up inventory space (unless a mod changed that), since quest items show weight in their descriptions but don't actually add to your total.
Actually, if you just want to get rid of it rather than give it to Inigo, you don't even need to fight Red Eagle, just unlock his tomb. The sword acts like a key, and you leave it behind when you open the tomb. If you take it back after looking Red Eagle, it'll have changed to Red Eagle's Bane, but you can also just leave it there.
In Vanilla survival mode, heat sources like fires only seem to warm you while stationary. Also, knowing how Skyrim treats effects, if it’s not showing a warmth rating, it’s almost certainly registering as a zero. Holding a torch can also boost your warmth rating (assuming no vanilla/mod conflicts).
20:23 I'm not sure, but I think the bound stuff is "technically better" long term?
23:00 I like this angle. I've done some not-stealth sniping from that spot.
24:22 I've not had Lock Overhaul break the game. It's not flawless, mind, but it's not really risky. A few oddities here and there. Creature mods inevitably shatter my saves, though.
35:24 I wouldn't be using spells, Forsworn are all Breton, so there's a chance they just absorb the spell, and if not they have that innate resistance.
49:47 I really like what Hothtrooper & co did with the Bosmer and "Wild Hunt light" armors.
52:41 Ah, my fav from WiC... I need to finish hitting my install with a hammer and get playing again. Trying to patch out some stuff that's apparently harder than it looks.
The recital spell I only ever use it once I have 50 alteration and get the per notice and then apprentice spells free
The bosmer armor is very LotR (in a good way)
For me, using Odin mod with Apocalypse spell pack allows me to use Slowfall which is a type of levitation spell that prevents fall damage. The spell has been around since Daggerfall.
Edit: I don't want to spoil but Fenrik's Welcome is in Anniversary Edition. You just have to buy it from a court wizard or find it in one specific spot for free.
Apocalypse Magic's "Ocato's Recital" is indeed a broken/overpowered spell. Getting 3 buffing spells for free is bonkers! I think the author later realized this and re-balanced it in his Odin - Skyrim Magic Overhaul. The version in Odin stores a single spell (not 3) and only stores the spell for 30 minutes, so you do at least have to recast it every once and a while.
Also, relating to your comments about lock bashing/spell mods, Apocalypse does have one spell for opening locks. If I recall, it's an expert level Alteration spell.
It is a bit OP, though it's really easy to trivialise magicka costs in Skyrim anyway.
I still use it because it mostly cuts down the tedium of recasting buffs all the time.
@@Electric999999 Yeah I probably wouldnt use or would forget most buffs if I couldnt auto cast them. But im not doing a multi year Roleplay-Letsplay though. The more ive played Skyrim the less patience ive had for such things, I dont want my 100 hour playthrough to be 200 hours with 100 hours of just walking.
Like playing without fast travel. I usually start without fast traveling for many hours, but even with the Wayshrines mod, dwemer compass waypoint travel, Airship, teleports from multiple other mods and spells, I still end up just sprinting and backtracking from point A to B so much through the same areas that I cant stand it and start fast traveling again. Of course I love it in Morrowind, but Morrowind feels like it was designed from the ground up with its lack of at-will fast travel, but it always feels wrong in Skyrim to me eventually.
Elven armor is not warm.Glass is. Skyrim appears to work like the Northern Hemisphere in real life. North and high elevation are cold unless mitigated. The Reach is northwest and quite mountainous and The Rift is southeast and low and has hot springs south of Windhelm, which is one of the coldest places in Survival. Solitude isn't bad, but up near Meridia's Temple I had to make an emergency campfire at night in a snowstorm.I nearly froze to death fishing at Nightgate Inn,had to go inside,my vision grayed out.Well, you know,if you were playing the real AE there is an unlocking spell.Need a mod where you have to have empty bottles that weigh something to make potions away from home.🙃
Archmagaster of House Telvanni how may I serve you?
So if casting magic without using magicka is broken, does that mean staves and scrolls are broken too? The real problem with Ocato's is the simultaneous cast with no delay. In theory both features could be balanced by having it consume a filled soul gem. Expensive in comparison with enchanting an item, but an appropriate price for an OP perk.
CZcams chat: USE THIS DAVE!
Dave: No.
(GIGACHAD)
So not going for the free home just outside morthal ?
To balance out Ordinator's gazillion perks, you should add a mod that gives you a free perk point ever 5 levels so you aren't constantly overwhelmed with choices. Or don't, it's your game.
On a side note, I don't like the way the black cloak looks over the Elven Armor. Another cloak would be better in my opinion.
What mod is adding those warm and cold icons for Frostfall?
dave have you seen skyblivions new lock picking mod if not theyve put it up on nexus for people to use
Y A Y ❤
I think I speak for everyone when I say it's okay if you use the stupidly op poisons but avoid occatos recital. You break the game how you want to Dave and don't let anyone tell you any different.
Loving the focus on fashion this ep. Good stuff.
yay!
Is anniversary better than SE?
Debatable tbh. The Creation Club stuff breaks game balance sometimes, and you'll hear way too many people say, "It's all in this note."
Better off playing modded if that's an option.
I actually recently did this quest in my legendary survival modded playthrough I’m doing rn.
It was a waste of time
It is a waste of time, but it is one of the few quests you can do without map markers due to how the book describes the Reach. For that reason, it was one of my favorites when I first played the game.
🐱🐈
Oh dear, the irony of you saying it's better for the save file to always destroy campfires (which have a cleanup script) while you're dumping trash from your inventory directly into the world (this does not have a cleanup script)
