- I show you how to hide the USB / Lightning cable in a Jeep Wrangler JL or Jeep Gladiator JT behind the HVAC cluster to clean up your interior. I like to put my phone in a ProClip phone mount and plug in the cable in order to use Apple CarPlay and show how to run the cable behind the dash.

Get a longer cable and route it into the center console USB port then you don’t have to look at the cable connection at all and your passenger can use the USB port
That would not give you the CarPlay functionality.
Yes it would. Both USB ports have data
I was so distracted with the finger prints on the screen! Clean the screen before you video it James!!! 😘
Kimberly Anderson SO SOORRRRRY!
Yes clean the screen 😂
Nice video. For an even cleaner look, pop off the screen surround and exit the cable in the top left corner of the screen.
thanks ! going to do this tomorrow !
Great install, thanks for the tooltime tip 👍😀
Guido Kartner always glad to help!
A fellow Secrets Fan! 🤘🏻
Yesterday I was thinking of doing this exact “mod”. Good job!
Ryan Blaney Thx, you’ll be happy with it!!!
Thanks - Good Video
awesome video! i will be doing this tonight!
Awesome! Another tip, bring the cable out the top left corner so it’s closer to your phone mount.
Hi, do you recommend to disconnect the battery for this too like you did when you change the dash?
Nice video. My OCD desperately wants to reach thru my phone screen and clean that Uconnect display...
Melosmoov Mel lol, Kim said the same thing!
@@shockerracing keep up the great work guys. We appreciate all you do.
Melosmoov Mel - That’s what I’m saying!!! It was so bad! Shameful James!!! 😘
You have enough cable to choke the whole Jeep community 🤣
David Acevedo Bwahahaha
Why mount your phone at all? Both the JL Wrangler and the Gladiator have CarPlay and Android Auto. You can see your maps, music, phone calls, and send and receive texts all on the much larger screen.
Rick Mansfield I still find that some things don’t work perfectly through CarPlay, and I end up touching my phone more than I should 😬. I know it’s a bad habit that I need to break!
@@shockerracing I agree, like selecting a previous address to navigate to in google maps while the car is in motion. It won't allow you to do this with android auto.
Any suggestions on how to run the OBD2 Scangauge cable to sit on the dash. Any way to hide the cable somewhere as it runs from the OBD2 port up to the dashboard top so I can place it beside the driver side speaker on the dash top?
Hmmm, I’ll have to take a closer look at that one.
@@shockerracing Thanks. Any suggestions will be very helpful. Mine is a 2021 JL Willys 3.0L but I guess the JT and JL will not be too different in the dashboard area.
Bold move XD
I want to try to “tap” into the USB port from behind the dash, and add an extension so I don’t have to plug into the USB port and can leave the cover closed, I just can’t find a video on it
Have you been able to do this? I'm looking into that myself. I see there are two USB cables running to the dash USB ports. I assume one of them is a loop through running to the port inside the center arm rest. Not sure though. I figure there's a way to tap into that, but I'm looking for info online.
@@mcarvette no, so I did wireless Apple CarPlay and sometimes you need to unplug and replug so i didn’t want to hide the port
@@mcarvette I have a video on my channel about what I did
Come on James! That screen lol.
Jarid Shunk Kims been slacking! 😜
Jarid Shunk what @shockerracing!!!! 🤔😘
Jarid Shunk If I helped with this one that screen would’ve been cleaned... 🤣
Haha
You should have shocker racing towles for wiping car screens off. I'd buy one👍
James every time you say, “If you do nic it...” I hear naked.... Just saying 🥰😘.... PS I don’t know how to spell nic... 🤷🏼♀️
Kimberly Anderson lol... I see where your mind is!
ShockerRacing - Mojito Jeep x Neon Gladiator JT 🤣🤣🥰😘
Honestly it look’s worse to me not natural at all.
