    The way Oz Noy uses the pedal is brilliant. That little bit of wobble makes it so much more inspiring to play over

    I use this with the effect loop and add a filter, chorus, and harmonic trem. This transforms the stark guitar tone into a warm pad. The WET switch allows you to then just play a pad if you like.

  • @JimmyGallowayGuitar
    @JimmyGallowayGuitar Před 4 měsíci +6

    I sold mine, because Poly Sustain does this in helix and provides the wobble parameter so you don't have to use the loop. It certainly is an inspiring pedal, but for me the real estate it took up didn't justify the footprint since I could do it in helix. Pro Tip: run this drone in to a FreqOut or the helix feedbacker.... Brian Eno land

      Thanks for the Tip. Will have to try it out on my HX Stomp. 👍

    • @JimmyGallowayGuitar
      @JimmyGallowayGuitar Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@picksalot1 the down side to Stomp is Poly sustain eats up 50% of your DSP. I came up with a really cool workaround for this: the shuffling looper. Run your shuffling looper [first in chain] by just grabbing a chord and make a small mini loop of 5 seconds or so. Then put a feedbacker or delay after the looper....... it will move and go through different variations. It is really inspiring.

      Was literally about to comment asking JC to replicate this in the Helix then saw this. Thanks for the tip, I gotta try it. Perhaps JC will anyway.

    • @picksalot1
      @picksalot1 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@JimmyGallowayGuitar Yeah, DSP can be eaten up pretty fast. I use an old, but very powerful, free multi-track Looper called "Mobius," as the Looper in the HX Stomp doesn't have auto-sensing to start recording without having to press a button. That's a feature I can't live without. Sustain and Looping are such useful features for practicing, composing, and are loads of fun. Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks.

    Amazing. For me, one of your best videos, both for the inspired music you play and for the guitar sound which I really like. I don't know what you used this time, but with that pedal the result is a delight to listen to... and definitely to play, I bet. I'd like one too, at the moment I just use the exp pedal with H9's algo Dual Reverb, but it's obviously not the same. Well done, mate.

    Gamechanger makes awesome pedals. I tested the Plus against the EHX Freeze & TC Infinite… but I found the TC infinite to be my choice - not only due to cost but the Infinite having more options. The tone print allows you to setup the onboard reverb to be used with the effected sustain but also w/your dry signal (when you are not sustaining) … so many options to craft your tone using tone print. I was also concerned with having to send the Plus back to Latvia or wherever they are located if there is any issue. The Plus seems great for gigging as it looks durable but the long throw on the pedal mechanism seemed to take too long to hit it accurately compared to the quick throw of the Infinite. Also, the Plus and Infinite add some modulation to the sampled note whereby the Freeze creates a synthesized note which has no modulation (I think the Freeze sounds artificial). Either way, the Infinite or Plus are great and inspirational to play. In my opinion, the Infinite provides everything and more compared to the Plus in a much cheaper/more compact pedal. That being said, if I could afford to own both, I would buy a Plus too.

    I've enjoyed using this pedal for a few years now. It sounds great using acoustic guitar as well. It's quirky, and there are cheaper competitors out there. GameChanger pedals are expensive, but some of them are so cool, in terms of design and aesthetics, that they inspire on that level as well.

  • @martye462
    @martye462 Před 4 měsíci

    I love this pedal - been using it for a few years. The Send/Return is great for bringing in delay/reverb or tremolo into the held sound. I do sometimes detect some digital artifacts and the reverb/delay helps smooth those out and helps to create a real pad sound under my playing. As you mention, timing on the pedal is critical - It took me a while to get used to the speed of pressing the pedal (a quick press = louder, a slower press = softer). The stacking option creates some really interesting sounds - it allows (I think) up to 5 notes - the more you add after that, the earlier ones start dropping off.

  • @trickfall8752
    @trickfall8752 Před 4 měsíci

    I love these types of effects but if I was a pedal builder I'd add some way to program a progression so that you could hit a foot switch and the drone would pitch up or down to the next chord in the progression. I think you might have even done something like that with one of your Helix presets.

    Very nice pedal, and love that one can go through chord progressions naturally, as with the structure of a song.
    I would love to know what that opening piece is that you played? My head wants to add the left hand, bass progression, to a piano piece my dad used to play. I can also imagine the likes of Bette Midlers voice to it…

    It's a lovely looking pedal, but I don't like the 'bagpipe' quality of the sustained notes. It could do with some tremolo/vibrato being added to them for some movement.

    I picked up a TC Infinite recently (full 4-knob version, not the Mini), partly inspired by your Helix freeze work (and wanting to save DSP blocks!), and partly inspired by your earlier video on it: czcams.com/video/yRtsGbB-KNA/video.html. Since you've used both, I'm curious to have your perspective on how they compare (feature-wise and sound-wise). The TC is well below half the cost. IIRC, it came out after the Gamechanger and perhaps is "inspired" by it. Some reviews I've seen say the TC has more modulation in the sustained audio than its competitors (not necessarily in a good way), but that seems to depend a bit on the settings. -Tom
