- Honestly, this spring has got me sprung! ok, that was whack.. But seriously, the GameChanger Audio Light Pedal sounds incredible. I've been using it a bit on my drums and a lot on moody piano parts that need a bit of organic movement and texture! Thanks again Gamechanger for sending it over and letting my have a play with it. Jesus that feedback on piano is heavenly
Truly
I can't get enough of organic evolving effects that are generated in a way that means they will never repeat exactly the same way again. This is right up my alley. Beautiful tones! Really hope they do a more studio focused stereo version - imagine having this on an aux send while mixing.
It would be so cool to just get two of these and use one for each channel, and then set them each different
@@infn8loopmusic I was just thinking about that
I've never been a big fan of spring reverbs either, but I love the kinds of sounds you can get out of this. It's somewhere on my long list of things I may want to consider purchasing some day if my bank account allows it.
I always love your videos whenever I come across them. Well-produced, honest, to the point, focusing on real-world examples rather than specifications, and always generously sharing your own way of using the equipment you demonstrate. Keep up the great work!
Ive loved EVERYTHING they put out! If this pedal takes off, i hope they do a tabletop/rackmount version of this with stereo I/O
Ricky: it's mono only
Me: Well i guess im buying two
My wallet: ahhhhhhh
Put the Strymon Big Sky after and it will be stereo :)
just put the same thing through it twice then pan one left and one right
I swear Ricky, you are the Bob Ross of sound design. It so chill to watch you do your thing. I was waiting that you tell me that each kick needs a friend :). Thanks for making these videos.
Wow...what an insane device that was! The textures you got with it were fantastic...!
Awesome dude thank you again for the knowledge 🙏 this thing is rad!
Great vid as usual, @Ricky Tinez! @Hainbach vibes with the reverb + Nord section!
Such an interesting new take on things, I love it!
Came for the reverb, stayed for the trem-O-lo.
thanks again Ricky T! always fun to watch you play...
Ricky your piano playing has improved so much since your channel began! Awesome work - the practice shows.
Thanks Marc! Its surprising how much a litttlleee bit of effort towards learning something can do
Awesome piece of kit. I'm always amazed that the biggest prices are gained, when you add the most subtle of settings with these beauties!
Beautiful video. Finally someone that use this machine in a creative way. Many compliments!
that small zoom at the end of the video on the pedal got me so well. great editing as usual !
This thing looks dope.
Props for your genuinely original take on the word "tremolo"
hahah i know i know.. yo soy mehicano haha. I'm just happy to learn something new everyday :)
@@RickyTinez I love that you pronounced it that way! I say "trem OH loh" my whole life until someone corrected me the first time I went into a studio. I had read the word on my Dad's old Gibson tube amp...Hadn't heard it spoken before. 🙌🏾
tres mo fo
The presentation of this thing is fantastic as well. I absolutely love the genius use of the orange and white light. It makes the whole thing come alive and you can see what it's doing. It kind of reminds me of NI's Absynth somehow. Just building these underlying soundscapes to your instruments, giving them a whole new dimension.
It's amazing that it's the actual optical sensors lighting up the springs
another amazingly made video
Holy moly that improv from 14:20. Sounds beautiful lad
Great pedal, really good review. Thanks.
9:21 sounds like you are about to drop the hottest industrial tech house track of 2021
Was thinking the same thing 😀
Absolutely incredible!
Game changer is such a cool company, I have the sustain pedal and I’ve never encountered anything else like it; a pedal that completely changes the way I play guitar but not restricting. Some of their other stuff is a bit more specific but everything they make is really interesting
very distinctive sound. love this. percussive resonance.
Talking to Kenny dope as one does 🤣 👑
What a fantastic piece of gear I will try to use this as ideas while working on my record
That is heartbreakingly beautiful. Thanks.
14:38 This is so beautiful! Thank you for this! 💙
Yep, Kenny Dope’s the dope, a true reference for me!
Sounds like a very inspiring pedal, Nice!!!
Managed to totally blow my mind twice in one video. One with that insane IR sensor science and again by just invoking Kenny Dope. His old school hooks comprise around a third of the tropes of deep house.
You had me at Kenny Dope 😳
Awesome pedal. Now I want one!
I am glad that companies from my country started to produce awesome music gear during last years.
Wow, this sounds fantastic
It's funny how, as a House/Groovy guy ( i mean you....!) the tips, Gear reviews or mini jams often ends up with high Indie/Avant-garde/weird or alternative goodness.
You are quite interesting Mr Tinez !
Honestly, i make a LOT of these weird "i don't even know what this is" tracks. mainly during the exploration and learning stages. i think its because i'm in an anything goes no rules state
@@RickyTinez That's why i like your channel : The moments when we can witness your reactions with happy accidents are the best.
@@RickyTinezThis is something close to autonomic era drum and bass. Check out dBrdige, Instra:mental, Bop and Subwave
@@RickyTinez Digging the vibe by the way, was pleasantly suprised
Dude that thing is bananas!
Great demo
As a spring reverb entusiast i love it, beautiful tones out of this. reasonable price too
Kenny Dope and MAW you have impeccable taste Enrique. I used to spin those joints when I DJ''d back in the day. Strictly Rhythm bro! 💙
heeelll yea!
Beautiful
THAT FEEDBACK N HARMONIC PRESETS ON THE PIANO IS OUTA THIS WORLD, imma need something like this!!
yea that's easily one of my favorite parts about this pedal
yoooo love that gated reverb function!
That Nord sounds wonderful with this reverb holy shii🙏🏾
really cool optical reverb. I've never heard of it before this video.
Makes it more organic since it’s always changing. Beautiful.
Reminds me of older synth music and techno
thanks for ev' .... i like yer style!
Great video! Thanks for turning me on to this pedal, Ricky! I’m definitely going to pick one up.
One note: unless I’m mistaken, the “Harmonic” setting refers to the series of harmonics. It’s accentuating the overtones related to the fundamental(s) being played. So you’re correct in it not being “harmonic” in the sense that it doesn’t coincide with Western Harmony, equal temperament, etc.
Cheers!
your videography is amazing
this pedal gives me serious minecraft vibes on the piano
The lanterns blowing in the wind are very aesthetic! :)
Phenomenal pedal. Wow.
It does sound amazing in mono, but just imagine the ethereal feel you could create with it in stereo...
Buy 2 🤑😅
This is the Hans Zimmer texture maker magic box. Sci Fi and horror movie sound designers don’t get caught sleeping! Great video I can’t stop wanting to listen to this thing.
I have never heard anything that makes and captures all the texture and sound this thing has. Serious creative uses here. Kinda want one haha
I’d love to see them turn this into a eurorack module like they did with the Plasma Drive.
I second this
@@saysthetedd Same, and please an effects insert into the feedback path. Would buy that.
I currently have the plasma pedal in my pedalboard and it’s sick. Dope content.
ooo i've been curious on that one too!
I hope Hainbach has one too :) The slow piano section you do on this video sounds amazing.
GOOD JOB KENNY DOPE , GOOD JOB RICKEY TINEZ ....YEEHEE!! 👌🏽🤴🏽😁 🍊🍊🍊
Nice!!!!
I just picked up an Aelita ( Vintage Soviet Synth ) and was looking for some really good effects to add to it. I think this is going to be the perfect reverb for it.
Fire opening track!!!!!
And the house joint!!!!! ....still watching
I was skeptical at first but hearing it, it's absolutely unique.
Damn that sounds SO GOOD with the Nord
Actually sounds kinda beautiful w the feedback on the Nord!
God damn I love creative reverbs! Even more so when they are performative. This alongside the Death by Audio Rooms with its massive time knob on two sends can breathe life into a track so quick while performing! I kinda really wanna try the microcosm -> this -> rooms chain all on one send though 😅
Great review 👍 Dub Techno folks will be all over this. It has all the creative side of spring reverbs without too much of the annoying "boing" although I guess it could be pushed to that.
As fuzz lover, I feel the same way about the their plasma pedal. The differences between both channels would be interesting.
I have always loved spring reverb.
A lil bit sounds good on bass too
your hanging lights are super chill
Coolness !
Beautifully presented, thank you! Regarding the harmonic effect, each note contains harmonic overtones to infinity. The springs and spring tank add additional layers of harmonic overtones. It sounds like the harmonics function on the pedal filters out the input and mainly outputs the overtones of the springs, creating beautiful analog fractals.
Oh man. You sold me.
That's industrial wonderful!
I'd love to see this in eurorack form! ;)
Great one, Ricky! Is it just my feeling or you've been exploring different musical areas and became confident enough to share what you've found? You've shown couple of things recently, that I was not expecting at all. Like what you do with the pedal here. At times it resembles of NIN or Mogwai, but it's not the point. I like how it glues everything with this everchanging background atmosphere. Very cool.
This is like Hainbach's haunted wire recorder, but even better! The resonant clangs and droning feedback sound so good.
I am wondering what if we take two mono signals and turn them stereo is that going to create a better imagine since there should not be any phase issues when we do this and might just get some more depth ? But will we ?😓
The Plasma Pedal is one of my favorite and most used pedals. Gamechanger Audio don't make gimmicks. Damn I want one of those spring reverb pedals bad lol.
That's really... Industrial! (Also, it looks interesting in play.)
Damn you Ricky. Now I want one.
ricky droppin' hot deuces up in this, biz!!
REALLY wish gamechanger would start making their stuff in stereo. Would love some stereo spring as well as stereo drive. What can ya do
buy 2
Could you duplicate the tracks and pan?
@@facethecameraandlie8301 you need a module but sure. Active multiple or mixer and then a stereo imager maybe stereo filter with panning
Fantastic! Spring reverb like this is what I crave. And this is local from Latvia, say what!:)
oh word!? Hello from LA to Latvia haha, Thanks for the support DJ Plastic!
@@RickyTinez Greetings (or "Sveiki" in Latvian) from other side of the world, Thank you for the real fyre videos you make!
I love watching your videos it’s amazing where can I get one of them I like to experiment with different types of styles of music to sample from on my mpc I even use the outside environment to record samples to
Its a very rich feedback, not harsh at all, sweet af.
"... By the way I work at Novation, this isn't about rhythm, meeeaaheee"
Love that reaction :)
Bon Iver vibes on the nord, holy moly
@Ricky Tinez Man tell me please, did you not notice the light pedal quietly? or maybe it seems to me ...
I received the light pedal today and it's hard to hear. Used together with db-01 and tried the pico system/
I have something to compare with, but even the little NTS-1 sings louder, although everything is cut down there/
It’s definitely got it’s own sound, but I generally prefer the ‘boingier’ spring reverbs. This one has a more ‘clanky’ quality, perhaps a bit more like a plate reverb? It’s still cool though.
Definitely a plate "vibe" here - pardon the pun.
Sounds very cold/dry for lack of a better term. Digital-esque. It's very cool but not that classic spring sound.
That clap does sound lovely
It shocked me when I first got my SLMK3 and got all the synths that most were mono, and then when I went modular it blew my mind the sound quality achieved through mono,. Granted Im working on the Praga Mixer straight out to a SSl2+ so the sound quality is Nysh, I wish Bheringer included cc information to be able to Automate more than just pitch bends
u should keep going when "you get lost"... love to see the creativity
Agree, what was goin on "in the weeds" sounded cool, the track he played after sounded generic and boring like a lot of his other stuff
He doesn't like experimental/weird music :/
FUCKING CRAZY SHIT - rare to see innovations like this!
it's eerie
Great pedal and you can actually even engage two mod modes at once. I demo the light pedal on dub techno drums on my channel.
Would this be compatible with the mpc live 2? If so..how would you connect it? Love your videos man!
The biggest improvement for me would be to have a stereo in and out. I love spring reverbs, but my god, somebody please release a stereo one already. The only stereo spring reverbs I can find are rack mount units from the 80's, which are cool, but lots of maintenance is required when purchasing them generally. Great review!
@@Leviathan-mj8gi Yeah I hear you there, the rack units I mentioned have 2 separate spring reverb tanks. Maybe one day a new stereo version will appear!
Have you tried the EXP input with CV clock or clocked LFO via CV?
Thanks Ricky
