@9:30 ...Every electronic musician has that moment that they create something so dope that they are no longer in control of themselves and become a dancer to their own music.
You have a nice style. It’s like back playing my parents organ and you hold down the “rock2” preset and the “samba1” preset at the same time then let one go and the rhythm kicks in different. I could do that all day.
This is so incredible! I've seen so many modular vids that weren't interesting to me. This one grabbed me right away. Stands out as being less experimental but so much more engaging than atmospheric dones/pads/etc. It's got a beat and bounce that makes you want to move!
I agree the music actually makes the tutorial part just seem like jamming. Keep them coming and good pointing this little gem out. Seems pretty damn useful.
This module is great when combined with the digitakt 2 euclidean sequencers sending triggers through a midi to cv converter. You can generate a trigger pattern then commit it to the track and edit it which you can't do with eurorack sequencers like the turing machine or marbles.
Awesome! This is basically what I've been trying to turn my turing machine into. You could use a sample & hold to update the pitch only on trigger. The cool thing about modular is that you can often fix the shortcomings of a module with another module.
Me too, Turing machine, mixed with synced lfos and offset to 'control the' spread', plus S&H, with separate pitch and triggers. Although I'm sure this NE module ends up being more than the sum of my parts.
@@RickyTinez It's hard to decide on what task to focus your Eurorack on (unless you want to spend a fortune [you do anyway in modular land] and have a huge wall of modules) - For example I wanted to shift my rack more towards experimental-drone-ambient but after this video I'm hesitating to pull out my "simple bass line"-setup..
I bought a Clep Diaz based on your recommendation. So great, I bought another. This thing has my interest as well, using it as a modulator or using a clock div/mult on the trigger input. But yeah… NE is addicting. Bought a binseq and a newer version BIA. Just awesome stuff.
If you want to lock the note just use a sample & hold ! Honestly, you could emulate what this module does by sending a turing machine to a quantizer through an attenuator and a scaler to change the "height" and the "amplitude" of the sequence and then sample the signal with an S&H. But with modular the possibilities are so vast, mix an lfo or noise to the sequence, or another sequence with a different clock and number of steps. If you quantize and S&H, you will always get something musically and rhythmically relevant (sampling a sequence with a rhythmical gate is kinda like a rhythm quantizer if you think about it) Anyway, that's probably my favourite thing to do with modular !
I love how I'm kind of in sync with your inspiration cycle. I've been jamming with the desktop synths for a while now and just started touching my modular again this week. Wallet's empty, but I can always recreate some of this with what I've got.
This is a must have module, NE nails it again! I'm surprised it does not sample and hold pitch on the trigger or have the option but a sample and hold module solves that. Sliding pitches can be fun too.
haha! Yea there are some older modules that kiiinnddddaaaa do something like this but to me this is the best there is for the "random sequence generator" that you can loop. I mean it's got 4 of them! c'mon!
Duuuuuuuude i havent seen you in ages. Whybdoes my algorithm kick some of my favs out for wierd periods of time? Imbglad it brought you back. Gotta fav your page. Great work as usual bud!
@RickyTinez actually I've learned a huge chunk of my synth knowledge and analog sample knowledge from your channel. I'm pretty clueless with modular. Maybe its time to learn! 😉😎
Dope stuff. I am doing a similar thing with CVilization in mode 3 .. it has a normaled noise to the CV recorder and quantizer. I just dice until it clicks and then let it evolve by itself
Tight! One day I will explore the deep, deep rabbit hole of modular, but until then I will make do with listening to mad scientists like you killing it. Keep up the good work, fella, knobmongus.
If you route the pitch through a sample and hold after the gamut and your trigger into both the gamut and the s&h you can kill those note tails. This module looks killer tho.
@@RickyTinez The case I put it in has Warp, Rosci and Algo. Haven't actually turned it on yet because I spent a lot of time figuring out what things to swap out to fit the Gamut and Rosci, which is also newly arrived. Will play this evening after dinner though!
Ricky, I watched another video that was talking about the inputs being sound sources (pitch?)... But yours is the sequence or trig - from Steppy.... and that makes more sense... I still don't quite understand the whole thing....
Huh, I basically made this module in Droid. I recreated mimetic and added these same features because they were there, so I have the combo of the 2 with the save, etc. I like this version from NE better as I don’t use Mimetic as much anymore. It needed to many attenuators, which Droid adds basically for free.
Dope basslines! To fix the gliding pitch issue, I think you have enough space for a 1u sample and hold. Just send the pitch cv and triggers to the sample and hold
Couldn't you use a sample and hold module to get rid of that pitch sliding effect? There are probably some 1u modules small enough to fit in the setup you already have
Seen you say something about using your old techniques (1:04) and thought you meant a pair of 1200's cuz too many people been pronouncing the name wrong and this was a perfect example of that.
Great module. If only it had the ability to save. I gotta say the Clank Chaos still does it for me. Wonder if you’ve tried it, Ricky. Does all this and more. Love your videos! Keep em comin!
The manual states that the trigger outputs can be switched from passthrough mode to rhythm generation mode by holding down the reset button. Does that change the behaviour of the CV outputs in terms of sampling/holding the value?
Can someone tell me what’s the pads sound in the background bc I’m always trying to get this sound but it never be this perfect so if someone can tell me it’s would be helpful Thanks
So many sequencers decouple pitch and trigger so i get new pitches on every clock pulse, even when theres no trigger. Its annoying as hell and i always have to slap a S&H in there.

Let's groove Noobey! Thanks for the comment and the view :)
Ricky I love how you jumped right into the content!
Thanks SH! I appreciate your time
This vid started a bit different and you seem refreshed, hope, life is good, Pz!
All is well at Château Tinez ❤️
Controlled randomness is the shit with modular, spot on
Oh yea, It's something I chase big time
Or you can get Squarp Hapax, or use similar tools in Ableton.
This is fantastic, your presentation style is so comfortable to listen to and the grooves are immaculate. Love to see you doing modular stuff.
I agree the music actually makes the tutorial part just seem like jamming. Keep them coming and good pointing this little gem out. Seems pretty damn useful.
Noise Engineering should pay you. I bought Mimetic digitalis and BIA after watvhing your video. Now I want this too.
LOL
More modular!! Love this demo. Your modular vids were part of what got me to pull the first euro trigger early last year.
This module is great when combined with the digitakt 2 euclidean sequencers sending triggers through a midi to cv converter. You can generate a trigger pattern then commit it to the track and edit it which you can't do with eurorack sequencers like the turing machine or marbles.
YO! that'd be insane!! I need to try this with my uMidi
As he was disabling steps in his mini sequencer I was wondering how this would play with a Torso T-1...
I'm dancing to this CZcams tutorial and loving it! Thanks, Ricky
It's modules like this that get me sidetracked from what I actually want to build my rack around. It seems like so much fun.
Awesome! This is basically what I've been trying to turn my turing machine into. You could use a sample & hold to update the pitch only on trigger. The cool thing about modular is that you can often fix the shortcomings of a module with another module.

A delightful throwback to the small system videos. Congrats to years of inspiration, education, and JAAAAAAAAMS!
Yo! Thanks for sticking through it all. Hope all is well
If only I had invested solely into Noise Engineering instead of the hodge podge system that I have now, I'd be so much happier with my modular.
hahah! There are a few brands that I realize I gravitate towards, NE heavily being one of them

I'm down to a small case of Noise Engineering and Bastl modules.
I keep thinking the same thing lol
This is absolutely incredible! Changing my ModularGrid layout tonight.

Last time I watched one of these, from you, I spent all my money! Haha. No regrets, but I am more careful now. Learning! Thank you!

nice to hear this gear pushing out some soul, great work Ricky.

This module has a nice groove. The created sequences are really good.
Ricky, I bought this immediately after watching. It’s amazing!!! Thanks for your take on content. Big fan
I love the way you flip the Module Case, that's a sick idea!
I see you got the Alia on your receipt. Love my Alia I re-flash a different firmware like every other week
Super refreshing video, haven't watched the channel in a while, will definitely be watching more often 🙌
I really like the look of this. Looks like instant fun.
wow, this module is basically what I've been trying to achieve with much more HP for a long time now. Guess I can put all of those on reverb now hehe.
Definitely reminds me of what the Bastl SoftPop 2 can do, but this setup gives you even more granular control. Very cool
Jeez Ricky, Noise Engineering should give you money for this demo because now I want one too!
Unbelievable timing! I was looking into something similar just now and this module might be what I need. Thanks Ricky

That iteritas sounds nice, you can hear the possibility of those 80's Detroit style techno FM basses.
Digitakt and the modular setup - it‘s gonna be a good one…
The unsung hero for me is actually the Incus Iteritas. I really like this bass sound.
Very similar to marbles love it
If the live show performances as dope as how you breakdown these sounds and techniques , it fire🔥
Cross Mimetic with a Metropolix and a Turing Machine in a nice little box
Yea exactly, I almost got a metropolix, but in the modular world I love leaning more into the "random" generator less programmed generators
added to my list of modules I want :)
If you route the pitch through a sample and hold after the gamut and your trigger into both the gamut and the s&h you can kill those note tails. This module looks killer tho.

you could send the pitch to a sample and hold and send your trigger from steppy to it as well Ricky. :)
Good stuff. Very interesting randomizer. Awesome beats as usual.
Thanks Josh!
Nothing beats a good bassline.
Such an excellent video 😊
This video is FIRE Rickyz!!!! Yo!!!🎉
Sounds great!! ❤❤
Here we go again 😂
I was able to escape for a few months LOL
Sooo - sounds like it’s a NE take on Marbles basically. Marbles is my favorite module so not a bad thing.
The track bro, banger
I knew this one'd get ya
haha! you know me to well. I got a demo of it and within 30 seconds my wallet started to feel lighter
I love this.
whats the most minimalist, guitarist friendly way of achieving this equipment wise?
starting from scratch
Inspiring man!
love it !
cool info, thanks
You can always put in a 3ms signal delay on your trig to make sure your pitch selection is made JUST before the trig gets there
I like the grooove!!!!!
Holy fucking shit this is so good
Thats a bit like using a beatsep to drive an sh101/jx3p arp or sequencer with their trigger input
Nice one!

very nice

Are U using the Iteras as the Oscillator 4 the Bass Line?🤔
I should have sold my Marbles before this hit the surface of the modular world..
cant you ust push it through scales with all notes on? this is also very inspired by marbles😊
how does this thing compare to a Torso-T1?

its Greek orthodox to me !? 🤯
aahhhh! Thanks for the info GhostKitchen!
is there a maxforlive device that does this?
I'm sure there is if not will be within a week of someone seeing something like this haha
