Phono subsonic cuts the very low bass htz typically where there is a record warp and prevents feedback through the cartridge. It is similar to the old rumble filters.
Hi, I love your videos but in each one, when you play a receiver, you change the radio/songs too fast, like every 3 seconds, and change it, and change it again. Can you please just peak a GOOD song (jazz, classic, rock) and keep it playing for a while to be able to appreciate the quality sound? Just a suggestion
it would be good if you refrained from interfering with the sound and the view at least for 10 secs. or so in a row. It is very annoying to keep seeing your hand turning up and down (I guess it is that what you do) the volume and switchings songs constantly. Very hard to watch video.
Hello Andrew !! After looking at your videos i have sorted some model numbers, I want to set up one vintage system.. Sansui Au 317 sound match with Au 517 ? Au 517 has more wattage and which is always good.. Or i should look lean towards Akai!! Right now i can get Sansui Au 517, 317 , Akai 1150 and 1175 or pioneer sa 8800(mentioned in one of your video).. Around $ 300 to $ 350 shipped.. Thanks !! Any reply from viewers will be appreciated .. Thanks
Spray contact cleaner or Deoxit into the metalic variable capacitor you will see inside... a huge metalic block that moves while you turn the tunning knob. be generous and move it the way you clean potentiometers.... apply into the axels and bearings mainly... clen it against dust with pressurized air
Great video, thanks. I know why they chap went for the TU-217 over the TU-317 : the line on the left of the front of the cases lines through beautifully when stacked. The TU-317 doesn't have a line .shame about the lack of lights on the TU-217 though.
Sansui TU 217 is the cheapest tuner in TU series from 1977-1981. If you want a light on the scale, you will buy TU 317. I think that this is difference between them.
Hello conrade! What's up? What is the recommended Sansui tuner to the amplifier AU-X911DG model? I have this amplifier and I'm looking for a tuner with the same shape. Could you help me? Hugs from Brazil.
This set sounds better than Akai receiver AA 1030 ? I intend to buy an Akai AA 1030 if I can't find 1050 the top of the line or 1040 second in the line.
vintage stereo aa1030 has 13 kg, AA 1135 has 10 kg. I think AA 1030 has more kg for a reason and those Ingeniers put more transistors and diodes to get a better sound. A big transformer is also a sign for a good sound.
There's a review of 1030 on select45rpm.com. Go for higher model as they have some following on hifiengine. If you can't find, buy Yamaha CR-800 2x45W receiver with strong bass or Pioneer SX-828. Don't buy lowest models of vintage gear.
You are probably right, but could be also more metal parts instead of plastic, 13kg for 2x30w receiver is very heavy, it's good, Yamaha CR-800 is 14kg for 2x45w acc. to hifiengine.
i bought a Sansui AU317 and a TU217 ,plus got a Sansui D- 79C tape deck plus i allready have the sansui SP-X8900 speakers the sinsetivty of 100 not watts!!!
That Sansui "AU" series is a classic... they sound tons of better that new stuff and they are way less money. You coudl make a comparison like this with your Akai: czcams.com/video/Azq4weaKZuI/video.html The Sansui killed the Akai, IMHO
Nikola Belhadj Sliman with most everything relying on internet these days, it’s nice to have a tuner like this that can receive a signal through the air in case of an emergency.

but do NOT get Deox on the fins - just the contacts at the ends.
15:28 So ? What is the name of the phone ? It's got this amazing DAC but no name?!?
I played it with with Celestion Ditton 33's and I find the sound too deep. Excactly like you said.

The quality of the sound coming from the tuner is too disturbing for the ears. There is no point anymore of using tuner nowadays
