- I'm showing you how I cut my hay in West Virginia with a Kuhn hay mower and a New Holland Powerstar 75 tractor. I go over how the parts of the mower work.
Just trying to be helpful in case anyone out there is looking for this kind of info.
Let me know if you have any tips or suggestions for me to try! I'm always learning and wanting to try new ways to do things better.
I grew up but have since left my family farm. We used a haybine instead of one of those. It looks like it might be easier to maintain those blades rather than all the small teeth on a haybine. Thanks for the reminder of my youth!
Hey, I’m Farmer/Rancher Scott. Just kidding. I’m Scott with Heritage Farms. New follower to your channel. Keep posting my friend. I have New Holland as well.
Nice video! I've been farming and doing hay for most of my life and I think you did a great job at explaining the cutting hay with a rotary cutter. A discbine is similar, just a few things different. Good job! Thanks for sharing!
Isn't it more like 2000 RPM?
Awesome video
Thanks!
I have the same Lynn cutter a 9 ft on I set mine at 3 inches off the grown And adjust it up if needed
Nice hay field
Awesome video 🇺🇲🇺🇲
I know what you mean about loving it! I grew up on a cow farm and we always made square bales and did everything the hard way. I am not retired yet but just finished buying me round bale hay tools. I have a Kubota M7060 and a Vermeer M6050 8 disc mower. You should be able to easily go twice as fast with the cutter you have with that tractor but if time is not an issue then no need. Once word has gotten out that I had hay tools I have picked up a good amount of custom work without even trying! This means that time is money, lol. Now I have get a better setup to haul tractor equipment and hay around to save time roading the tractor and after my wife followed me about 10 miles on country roads she said I had to get a trailer to haul the equipment due to people just being idiots on country roads and passing me when they shouldn't and making dangerous situations.
Sounds like you're having a good time! Keep buying those toys.
@@farmerscott8041 My wife called them toys too. My 8 yo grandson corrected her and said, mimi, those are tools!
I know this is a little old video, but what gear are you running the tractor?
I am from Michigan and a hay producer
i am looking at buying a power star 75.
How do you like the tractor?
How has the New Holland treated you?, I'm currently looking at the Red version.
I love it!
Where are you located. I farm in shinnston wv and would love to know where are local farmers are at
I'm in Preston County.
What gear are you cutting with on the tractor?
low 4th gear
1800 RPM not 20,000 js
Thanks
I commented before I saw your comment. 20K would be closer to a turbine engine.
I believe you have the wrong blade on your outside disc. It's cutting on the high side.
You're right!
