Just to answer if I own all this equipment or not. NO I don't own all these amps. The ones I owned was the Dual Rectifier, Engl Savage and the Engl Blackmore. - Hudba
2020 and still there are no better amp demos...
True Bypass 2020
True Bypass & STILL till this DAY in 2020 NO BETTER!!!
it's just OLA and you still suck... hahahah. I'm looking at the new evh 5150 stealth 50 watt
For sure
@@sfish2684 mine will be here tomorrow. If you want an honest opinion hit me up but I'm sure kicks ass it's a 5150.
1:51 - my head almost fell off.. absolutely awesome sound!
Masas are the best.
Mesa Mark IV. What a classic metal tone.
I think 6:38 answers my question as it if I can afford these amps at the moment lol
Yeah dude I love the JVM, but 3 grand? yowch.
Dillon Snyder well its a mesa roadster there...not a jvm.
I'd be lucky to afford Positive Grid Bias on sale and a basic audio interface let alone all the great gear Ola demos. Helps that he can play like a man possessed \m/. Anyhow, off to tune my air guitar and headbang and jam along whilst watching and listening to Ola play, lol \m/
get the software for Bias FX 2 and save $$$ then decide what tube amp covers the most ground. Problem solved.
@@richardwilliams1310 Garage Band is free if you have a Mac
this guy came out of the womb with long hair and a 7 string guitar
i love the Bolt Thrower cover with the H&K tri amp
@MatKiller1197 quoting the description: "Just to answer if I own all this equipment or not. NO I don't own all these amps. The ones I owned was the Dual Rectifier, Engl Savage and the Engl Blackmore."
Here's to another year of crazy amp testing! Thank you Ola for inspiration and great metal tunes, I wish you the best for the holidays and the coming year.
That JVM and both Mesa Boogies sounded stupid good.
may be boring but you need to play the same riff with the same guitar to really compare
No one has money for all that amps in one place and if they do they are jacking off with it not making videos on CZcams
And isolated tracks too
The tone Ola gets out of the dual rectifier is really impressive!!
2020
Love this video till today.
Back when playing and good tones were more important tham burping..
Lmfaoooo
1:06 dat S.T Anger Snare Doh
lol. i thought the same thing
Nah bros that snare was way better in a mix than Lars's trashcan of a snare sound
Dude the Mesa Boogie sounds so fucking sick. Almost like Slipkot's Iowa tone.
Which one? Im guessing the mk iv
+ky99999999 must be the rectifier sounds really fizzy
Mesa Boogie are known to sound really fizzy at low volumes. You have to crank the living crap out of the rectifier to smooth out. I bought a Weber power Attenuator to do so on mine (Mesa Triple). What's funny is the actual "sound" of the rectifier is much different than what people think when they are cranked. Very mid rangy.
Stopped by 10 years later still love this video.
Man! Flashbacks to 2010 when I'd watch these videos while having breakfast before going to school!
For people who say it sounds all same try listening with headphones it sounds all different
@@janjuko4024 you need headphoney
They sound very different, even if you listen through iPad
All great amps. To my ears the Boogies are the amp for me.
Paul Daluz
Same to me
The open and less gainy and tightness sound of that ENGL Savage just brutal amazing tone.. plus the note articulation wow.. must be some of his first videos
Always been a fan of the Mesa Boogie mark IV, but that Roadster at the end just blew my mind!
Holy shit. That Framus Cobra is a beast.
I agree that one made me go HELL YEAH! But honestly ALL of em sounded great!
charvelstrat81 My second Fave was the Elmwood, third was the Fortin
Yeah !! Crazy Napalm Death sound. My favorite of this test
Most of them sound the same to me...probably because they're all part of a processed, layered mix rather than just the bare sound of the amp. The Marshall was the only one I thought was really distinctive, as well as the Engl amps to some extent.
You're right and I listened through headphones. Coincidantelly, the Marshall JVM 410 and ENGL Blackmore are the only ones from this list I own...
No way do they sound the same. If you play in a "low tuned" metal style then this video is a great way to hear the difference in tone. I guess a trained ear to this style can hear the difference? Thanks for the video man!
I've watched this video quite a few times since Ola put it out in 2010, and I never really realized how much I LOVE the tone of the Diezel Einstein... It's epic!
Marshall Jvm heads are amazing articulate and defined. For me personally, i don't need any other drive pedals.
Modern Megadeth tone - Endgame and Thirteen - JVM heads, amazing tone.
I love my Mark IV, but i have to say that the engl savage has a pretty amazing tight tone!
Your mark iv is a beast, dont sell it ;)
Mark all the way!
Mids 2022 and still there are no better amp demos than yours Ola 🤘
Diezel ... no words
the engl was my favorite! so solid and the mids are ... gnarly. i don't know what other word to use.
I like the Peavey 5150, EVH 5150 and the MarkIV
that mark iv is just amazing dude... you got the coolest tone there for me
Framus, Engl Savage, Roadster, and Roadking are my favorites. You rock.
Actually liked the H&K
I don't like the price
To my ears, too much loose bottom end.
My favorites are the ENGL Blackmore and the Mesa Road King.
Man. I LOVE DAT BOLT THROWER MEDLEY!
Thank you for making a video where the amps are actually recorded well!
Mesa boogie dual rectifier rules!!
Mesa Boogie Mark IV for metal
Marshall JVM 410 for a hard rock
+Diego Ambrosio Marshall JVM's are brutal. Source : my own JVM410. I was shocked when i heard the tone Ola got from the JVM. I've never owned another 50-100 watt valve amp, but perhaps the JVM doesn't spoon feed players sonic brutality like other amps might do maybe?
+Diego Ambrosio I was going to write the same comment just now
Diego Ambrosio Check out Sylosis's Edge of the Earth to hear the JVM in action in glorious E standard!
i read this as "hard cock", meaning that metal players have weak one. Sorry.
owning a JVM i can say it can go more in metal tones but this amp is not as dry as many others
You make ALL of them sound awesome bro!!
You got great tone on all of the amps , bravo !
Many of these amps sound the same, is it the Ola touch? :D
Anyway, great vid!!
S.
the JVM was my favorite and I'm not a big Marshall fan
I think it sounded too midrangy and lacked other frequencies
10 years on and that ENGL Savage really holds up well. Honest tight and metal, with a hint of tang that the others just don't have.
Where's the line six spider on this?
lol
its just outside
..the house
..in the garbage.
Englund suena bien con todos los amps, hasta el que suena más feo hace destrozos!
Mis respetos.
All of the Mesa Boogies, the Mark IV and the Dual Rectifier and Roadster are bad ass! Damn they can make a good sounding amp, I wish I could afford one!
Road King, Triamp, Savage, 5150 EVH, Einstein... that's my top five. Nice video Ola, always a pleasure to listen you!
mark iv all the way!
The JVM and the Mark IV were the best tones by far, and that Mark IV chugged like a boss.
@@jmcsquared18 Mark IIc+ even better but hard to find now and expensive used- the Mark V is best bet
Diesel and messa boogie take my spots for sure on this list any one else ?
The JVM has that mid snarl that none of the others have, I love it.
Man. That engl savage sounded AMAZING. I've never played one before, but that tone at 1:11 is so tight and percussive. Sounds amazing.
Loved all of the mesas, The Engl Savage, The Fortin in the 5 minute zone, Diezel Einstein... And I cannot afford any, especially used .-.
mesa boogie all the way baby. Maybe van halen's lll series also
EVH all the way man. You need 2000$ effects to make a mesa sound good. ENGL is awsome too.
@TRASHDEATH completely false, if you know how to dial them in, you just need a TS like most other High Gain Amps and you get a monstous sound
The EVH 5150 III, JVM, and Mark IV were by far the best sounding tone wise.
Loved the Framus Cobra! And the Diezel Einstein! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
diezel, roadking, and evh are my faves !
thnx for showing
The Orange Rockerverb should be right there on the top 5 and i'm not kidding. I own one but in reality it owns me
haha recorded my bands album \with orange...kinda regret it haha
Bottom line is, in the mix they all sound so similar it does not matter.
On 7 and 8 string guitars with dropped A or C# tuning and a bunch of effects, they all sound the same to me.
They don't sound the same at all lol
7:06 of awesome riffs. Nice work man. They all sound huge.
Holy shit.... Somehow you geht every amp sounding absolutely awesome...
Cobra or 5150...I am totally conflicted
Both frankly lol. The Cobra is the better of the two imo, but combining the Cobra with nice tubes (some quality EL34's are what most use, but KT77's or KT88's sound VICIOUS in it!) with a good 6L6 based amp like the 5150 (the EVH 5150 is cool but the Peavey 5150/6505+ is always a classic too, depends on your style really) is near perfection really. Don't believe me? Go look at 90% of metal tracks on proffesional albums out there; guarantee you you'll see that the studio used a 5150/6505 variant amp combined with something else (Depending on the genre it's usually either A) Another 6L6 type amp like a Dual Rectifier or B) an EL34 based tight crunchy amp like the Framus Cobra or H&K Triamp MKIII etc.. Personally though, i still stand by my belief that THE best metal tone you can possibly get on this earth comes from combining an ENGL Savage with stock 6550 tubes with either a Framus Cobra with some real good EL34 or preferrably some KT77 or KT88 tubes or combine the ENGL with like a Peavey 6534+ which is an EL34 based 6505+. Those are some GREAT choices to me, in general combining a 6L6 based amp (6550 being just a bigger more aggresive 6L6) with an EL34 based amp (again KT77 and KT88 are just bigger EL34 european type tubes) always tends to sound good.
Should be renamed to "How to make 14 different amps sound almost exactly the same" The tones are all good but the low tuning doesn't allow the amps to really showcase their strong points.
that's the fucking point, play the same settings, same pickups, same guitar so the only thing that's changing is the amps
Then what's the "fucking point' of changing amps if they all sound exactly the same...
Nate Nagle Because they don't all sound the same.
Nate Nagle They're obviously all built for metal and EQ`d similarly, so they're going to sound quite a bit alike, but come on, there's some pretty easily noticed differences in each amp's tone.
zealot027 Exactly. The Dual Rectifier is very different in tone to the JVM
Very cool. I like the sounds of the Boogie Mark IV, Mark V (another demo), Deizel Einstein and Framus Cobra.
EVH 5150 and the Eistein sound so sick, props man
So many salty people in the comments.
BT Studio Productions youtube is the breeding ground for them
Man. I really do not like Diezels. Every demo I've seen of them sounds fizzy and kinda loose.
That's fair enough, I think it sounds possibly the best. But that's the beauty of guitar amps, listen closely they all sound different.
I agree. Even if thet dropped the price to like $1000 for diezel. I still wouldn't buy one. Far better amps out there. I hate the attack its just weak.
Diezels are more hard rock amps than death metal amps the way Ola is using it
Did not like it either. I seems to me that it does not cut through the mix.
Love the Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier. The Marshall sounds really good too.
Your sound is just freakin' awesome man! (with all amps)
Everything sounds the same on these über low tunings. So tired of this trend.
+DecayingWings you're kinda right. or it's because ola always wants his type of tone.
I'm sure people feel the same way about 80 years of distorted standard tuning.
Not the same. Djent sound much different.
Or maybe because you’re commenting on a video made in 2010
Vadim Vishnevskiy He said djent sounds different than this vid. Hard to understand? lol
This guy needs to grow a mouth amiright?
I know this is super old, but in these clips, the Mesa Road King, Marshall and Diezel were my favourites. Had the most character to them.
@Polaris112 thanks man,
Not much happening, using a overdrive before the amp. some lowpass filtering in Logic 9. It's all about mic positioning and performance.
Ola, you're the inspiration to me buying a seven string. Great work man!
Ola is the real-life Skwisgaar.
I love your vids, man.
Marshall 410 sounds really clean and responsive, lots of note definition, whilst remaining brutal as hell! I plugged into my mates 410 once and was astounded at the tone I got before even fiddling with the dials to get "my sound".
This vid is just further evidence that I need to get my hands on one, heh. Cheers for this shoot-out dude, helps a lot.
I play it live every week and it sounds amazing to me.
The engl savage sounds amazing
this video really showed me that It is much harder to find a nice clean amp sound compared to finding a nice metal sound
I was blown away by the Diezel
You made them all sound good, running a OD pedal in front of them helps alot. In 2020 I'm really liking the Revv amps for their tone.
I think this is the best video on youtube.
Those riffs are killer
I have to say the Diezel Einstein for me pretty much crushes. So many good choices though.
ive been playing 20 years now or so..i use 2 bridged marshall jcm 900s..run thru vintage 65 cabs..and a few boss pedals along with my jackson dinky reverse from the early 90s..fitted with a screamin demon duncan pickup in the bridge and a pearly gate in the neck..sounds good to me..
A hugeload of tones right here!
That MKV kills it! awsome vid,
Exelent review! Great Amps - Fantastic sounds!!!!!!
the best in the business..!!nice job bro..!
i think tone is a matter of preference. and i also think that the mark 4 is super heavy crunchy but very defined and crisp at the same time. what a beast
No matter what amp you use, I love your tone haha
great demo
Hi there! Greetz from Brasil!!
NIce amps nicely played as well!
I am glad someone doesn't write stereotypical metal riffs all the time and I can tell you have listened to some Necrophagist and Nevermore, which I admire. You write and play in a way that sends a wrecking ball through my skull haha.
If I could make a request, I would love to hear you play through a Splawn. Preferably the Nitro, if you would?
I love how Mesa and EVH sound - in your hands. In my hands, Mesa struggles to work, but Marshall and Orange always works. in this video, last clip with the Roadster is just magic. But I would need your hands to make it sound right for me!
That Framus sounds HUGE.
1. Engl Savage 2. Diezel Einstein 3. Engl Blackmore
@PlaugeNecropolis Tja, de flesta som kan ordna en clean boost effekt(alltså bara en volym ökning med gain på 0) kommer att duga. Maxon är bra men även Ibanez Tubescreamers och andra.
All great amps.I have a markV boosted with a mesa grid slammer very awesome metal sound.Ola is a legend!
i like the Cobra, just sounds so groovy
the chug on the mark 4 is fucking awesome
Yes for sure. A good amp is a good amp. Tube or otherwise.
