  • In a story which originally aired on "Sunday Morning" on September 30, 2007, correspondent Lesley Stahl profiles the celebrity chef and host of "No Reservations" Anthony Bourdain, whose adventurous spirit has led him to far-flung lands to sample some of the world's most exotic foods. Stahl also talked with Bourdain's mother, Gladys, whose cooking - and an oyster her son sampled in France at age 10 - inspired young Anthony to pursue a life in the kitchen.

    I have never very good watching TV, but I have to admit I never ever missed a "No Reservations" show. Tony Bourdain had a way to explain and talk about things like no other. R.I.P. Tony, you sure will be missed.

    I do not think that he committed suicide, he had everything. My wife and I are facing eviction, can't get a job anywhere, and all of our animals will have to to go to the pound and we don't know where to turn. But I still can't bring myself to commit suicide.

    Anyone who goes to the rough parts of Haiti and stays at the mystical Oloffson is tough. Very strange indeed. He was a down to earth guy who can relate with very poor people. He loved to eat street food and that is a sign that the guy was down to earth and did not let money and fame corrupt and change him.

      Don’t you dare say that. You have no idea what happens in the mind of a person suffering with depression or mental illness. Your mind can get temporarily broken, in the same way you can break your arm or a leg. And, if you get overwhelmed by the feelings, you can take your own life. Anthony Bourdain was a great person on so many levels, and he clearly wasn’t thinking straight when he took his own life.

  • @terryfriend16
    @terryfriend16 Před 6 lety +2

    Can't understand why he killed himself. I'm not rich, but if I had his money, boy, I'd be happy. Of course, that's the difference: the middle class truly understands hardship, the rich can't handle the hurdles.
    Guess we're truly richer.
    Anyway, hope Mr. Bourdain sees another paradigm. RIP.
    Oh, by the way, I don't contemplate suicide: I accept my place on earth.
