I wonder if he didn't fake his own death because as far as I know, there was never a funeral, nobody saw him dead except for 1 or 2 people and on his Berlin episode, someone during the show told him that a person can make themselves disappear in Berlin if they wanted to and Anthony Bourdain just looked at the person and said "really?"

He was a most talented writer, storyteller, and chef who brought joy to the lives of countless people who practically grow up with his tireless travels around the world. He did not approach other peoples, cultures, and culinary traditions with the stereotypically loud, arrogant, entitled, and often condescending American tourist view of the world. His enthusiasm, respect, and above all authenticity permeated everything that he touched; he offered the world a highly enchanting and entertaining experience, where everyone felt like he was a personal friend. Although, as a fan, I choose to remember him for his extraordinary and multifaceted contributions, and not by his last act of fragility, I still can’t help but to be sadden by the fact that none of us had the opportunity to reach out to him and the lethal darkness that must have been eating away at his core; a painful part of his existence that he chose not to share with the rest of us. RIP

Hospitals are free here while your medical care is overwhelmed, expensive and depends on the insurance you have. Education is free, living is cheap. There are no violent protests, no wildfires, no hoarding of groceries during crisis. No hatred of the other political party. I realized how great it was here.

A popular celebrity with a checkered past that includes drug and alcohol use - who is showing the public that the other people in other countries are OK, and nice people - who knows what really happened. He's gone, and the public will know much later, when the seas have no life in them and the people have to buy air to breathe. Couldn't happen, huh? Laverne Johnson Anthony Bourdain has actually been clean for quite some time. He’s also spoken very openly and honestly about his past struggles with addiction. Today, the coroner’s toxicology report just came out, and it was totally negative for alcohol and drugs (not that it’s really any of your business). Sadly, Bourdain struggled with something else throughout his life - depression. It’s a struggle that I personally know can be a true beast to battle. While I wish that he had realized that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, I would never personally judge his actions. I only wish that he hadn’t felt like he had no other way out. As for you, perhaps you should focus on being less “judgy” of others’ actions, especially when that person was obviously suffering. After all, no human being on this planet is perfect... I’m certainly not, and I’m very willing to bet that you aren’t either.

Bourdain reminds me of Letterman, who would always put himself down.
Especially if he was talking with the Mayor or whoever, when in fact Letterman was the smartest guy in the room.
But it was not a put on, and it isn't with Tony. They don't think they're smart enough, so they try harder.
And that's what makes them the smartest ppl in the room.

I've said for years, if the government made it mandatory and funded everyone to live abroad for 2 weeks with a host family (India, China, Africa, where ever), 99% of hate/ignorance/prejudice would be gone. Those that travel have experienced this. That awe and excitement that someone half way around the world is exactly like us.

I just really love this idea of thinking you are the stupidest person in the room, the term stupid might be harsh but I think he uses it to make a point. When you have that mind set of being the stupidest you start listening to people and try to understand what they go through. I always say to myself, if you think someone's not smart enough to teach you something then it is you that becomes the idiot of the two. Listen to people and try to understand.

Bourdain’s voice is louder than the interviewer’s. Turn it up to hear the latter, and the former becomes too loud, and vice versa.
