We were in Hurricane last week. As a 50 something female and the only one in our group that is a huge Matt fan, i was so incredibly excited to learn that we were staying around the corner from Matts!!! Stopped in twice, boight merch, took pics with the rigs...my friedns were laughing at me and my excitement. But i dont care, it was so dang cool!! Love this channel
A four hour drive transporting a handmade vehicle to rescue a Jeep Gladiator. Priceless.
'Drive around this at 45 miles an hour.' I'm still laughing about that one!
Good for you. Never apologize for doing what you love. Nowadays , you mention on here you sneezed, or that you loved last evening's Sunset, & you will inevitably get someone attacking you ... for living ! For anything.
Who sneezed? Dang it, now I'm gonna catch a cold. Thanks a lot. 😁@@daplace902
Plan is a four-letter word.
I'm always amazed by how Americans deal with distances. You drove 4+ hours to rescue this car. If I drive that I either end up in Belgium or drive through it and end up in France or Germany or drive through that and end up in Denmark.
That's a vacation! Not a drive.
GORGEOUS landscapes you have though!
In Australia 4hrs is a trip round the block
Then you have Texas !!! If you drive from El Paso Texas to Texarkana Texas it is almost 12 hours across our state.
In my home state of North Carolina, it takes over 9 hours to drive from one end to the other. That's just one state, out of 50. 😂
Here in the states we don't measure distance in miles/kilometers, it's always in time. 15 minutes to the friends house. A couple hours to work and back. And half a day to the remote camping spot.
Seriously. When I take my son to visit his grandparents, it's like crossing most of the UK from the north to south. Then when Europeans crap on us, they don't realize every single state has their own culture and people, we're not one country, we're 50 small countries united together. It's a miracle the majority speak one language, while again referencing the UK, until very recently on the timeline you had different languages in different regions.
Damn jeep should pay you for this video. You showing everyone how capable a stock Jeep can be in the real world. Good stuff
Good video editing makes that turd look good
Jeep doing Jeep things (braking and breaking)
@@crazylegs1823 sounds like the jeep is making some weird noises.
It's great to see Colby wheeling. His drone footage, videography, provide great value to these videos. Hope he sticks around for a while.
When i was up in the mountains in Colorado, there were reports of cougar attacks, but everyone over the age of 35 was safe.😅
I was going to ask if they knew some good cougar calls. Asking for a friend. 😉
They are here in OH also 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 what part of Colorado im 3yrs short of the age limit 😂😂😭😭
Lol
😂😂😂😂
As soon as Matt said "I for one always fill up before a job and never run out" I spat my coffee out 😂😂 nice Matt ya got me there 😂
😂😂😂😂...Matt is so funny.😂❤
I was concerned he wasn't feeling well after i heard him say that 🤣
That got me to I love his videos so much ❤😂😊
I can't stop laughing 😂 I can't wait to see another video😂
@@andrewr2650them lizardmen must have replaced Matt with a clone. Colby, Kaulin, wink twice if that's true. =)
Awesome recovery guys! Also, thank you Colby for repping our merch!! Means the world to us.
Around the 32 minute mark you start giving tips for picking lines. Please do more of this!!! I watch most of your vids for entertainment but I always wish I was learning more about how to off road without needing a tow. Sharing this type of knowledge in each video would make your channel even more valuable to me.
Turn driver is incorrect ! & poor direction with 1/2 the world driver is on the right and the other 1/2 driver on the left , thus giving directions of left & right is more correct & fun to say your other left from time to time. So in summation please use (Left) and (Right) when designating direction just state at begining all directions are as if you are the driver foward reverse left right no confusion unless you are my wife who even got in and out confused.
Because I was at the Off Road Games I can tell this job was before the games ,the left front fender isn't damaged in this video, another good job
I love the father to son advice Matt gave about the milkshake!! Matt looks rough and tough but he's a true gentleman.
I thought they had two straws so you could drink them twice as fast?
I just love how he call them new kids instead of young kids.. 😂
@@allmybasketsinoneegg to each there own my friend. You teach your son its for drinking twice as fast and I'll teach mine what Matt just did. Niether thoughts are wrong.
@@oneplus2ins Kids are always young.
I'll bet that Matts was wishing that Jaymie was with them so that they could share a milkshake.
I used to love watching Rudy and Lizzy handle a recovery. They were really good. But watching Kaulin, this guy has GOT IT!! It's going to be a pleasure watching him grow.
I live in Kingman. I’ve been on that trail. I stopped long before you guys did and I was on a quad. Love to see you in my neck of the woods. Good recovery Matt.
Do you happen to know the name of this trail? My parents moved to the Kingman area and I’d like to explore while visiting.
I think Matt enjoys spotting and watching less experienced drivers as much as he does wheeling.
On the trail everyone takes turns. I actually enjoy spotting.
You get to that age and point in your life
I’m so disappointed that you didn’t try the banking at 45mph option. Absolutely love your entertaining videos Matt
Yeah when he said that I thought right on I'm going to crack a beer and watch this😂
He had me, too.
I was listening intently to option one and option two and wondering which was best until I go: "did he just say 45mph?"
Classic Matt.
It’s amazing what a bone stock Gladiator can do with the right driver and spotter. Good job guys !
Driver mod fixes a lot.
I'm so glad YT gives the world a chance to experience your wisdom, classic phrases, and kind-hearted razzing of those you care about.
Matt, thanks for demonstrating something that parents often overlook. It's easier to do something yourself than to teach others your skills. But it's important to teach others. And even more important to know when to walk away and show them you have faith in their ability. Well done, sir.
True, then you get to teach them how to install time-serts.
It is a shame that by the time you could afford to fix up his Suzuki and the Rokon, Ed got too old to really be able to enjoy them. At least he is in a home and being taken care of. You are a damn fine young man Matt.
I think half the enjoyment for Ed is the satisfaction of seeing the projects finished. The Suzuki is an awesome little truck, and it'd be super handy as a little scout truck for the business. That sorta thing would tickle me pink. Having mates care so much they'd do all that for ya?
He's not in a home he lives at the shop in an apartment they attached to it. Idk if he has a nurse or anything but he seems to get around alright.
That was some serious stock Gladiator flexing great job guys!!
😂😂😂😂😂Matt’s face when Kaulin says “we have a spare on this thing” hahaha
Kaulin is getting to be a pretty good wheeler. He did real good on that stock suspension and tires.
I think my favorite thing about Matt is that he always builds/ modifies his rigs and then doesn't test them. Instead he take it out on a job to test it and doesn't know if it will break or not and rarely does it break on him. It just makes funny noises and he tells us not to worry he will fix it eventually.
Yes ...Thats the Test ...The Next Job...:-)
That "dead burger" line was a good one! Meantime, I'm reading a book named "Though Hell Should Bar the Way" and that road sure provides the graphics.
Oh, you were out in my neck of the woods! I must admit, I love living out here. Even as a young kid I was instinctively a "desert rat", and my only regret was taking so long to finally make the move!!
I'd love to get out in the old mining areas like that with Ed.... He's gotta be an endless fountain of knowledge, besides likely having some good stories.
and he can't outrun a mountain lion. . .
heh heh heh, I think he could run laps around me. I'm busted up and missing parts.@@foutoconnard4510
As a kid with a Jeep, 40 years ago. Wood screws and cans of Fix a Flat were always in my rig. Along with a skateboard, sleeping bag and a Frisbee.
Looks like a good day.
Great work Kaulin and Colby running that wash. Matt is a great teacher with hands off at times to reinforce experience.
The long wheel base and stock tires is not what you take into or out of a rocky canyon.
Great recovery.
Long drive for the recovery, tedious getting things turned around & through the rough spots, efficiency in the process though & finally effective in getting the vehicle out & to its destiny - and even putting on a valve damaged tire. The video was well done & showed the beauty of the country and terrain. Thanks for sharing it with us.
I've ripped a couple valve stems (including sheered off one right below the cap threads) on my '18 JLUR on 37s. Always carry the emergency external valve stem replacements that allow you to insert from outside and screw them down (look up Colby offroad emergency valve stem).
been running colby valve in my trailer for three years
Back in the late 80s I knew some navy veterans who gave me some glue that was used on the ship. I was out wheeling and cut a gash in the side of my tire. The glue worked and held for months… lol😂
This video had everything I like to see in a MORR video; seeing what you guys eat, hearing Matt talk this that and the other while he was spotting and driving, great Drone footage, comrades and family time! Great wheeling too!
That was a fun-to-watch rescue! Love the wholesome father-son dynamic with Matt and Kaulin. Great job guys!
It was really nice the compliments you provided to Kaulin as he wheeled the customer Jeep through the tough spots with some assistance, - I am sure he has lots of wheeling experience, but so nice to hear you say that he's getting better at it. Compliments about a skill from your dad is the best!
Love how Matt is willing to walk the trail out to guide the rigs out and was fun to watch the 2 lanes the different units took to get out
I'm going to make a bold statement and go ahead and say this is the best channel on CZcams.
Buddy with the Gladiator is crazy to be wheeling by himself in rough trails like that. Great video Matt and the boys!
And getting that Gladiator outta that draw, separates the experience from the amateurs. And is the reason you get the call, and are paid the big bucks 😊
and some with even more experience would not have bothered driving the Banana up on top just to winch it backwards, or maybe he does not know that Yankum sells recovery rings.
@@iffykidmn8170That requires a solid point to anchor too. Not sure if there was one.
@@iffykidmn8170 maybe experience just wanted to do the least amount of damage to the recovered vehicle also. In this case I agree with experiences decision. Made for a good video too.
Yep and for what that recovery cost you can buy a winch. 😂
I haven't got to that bit yet, but I have been wondering why they didn't take the Wrecker? Something to do with it being prepared for the ORGames perhaps?
This is what I come to the channel for. The recent big (mass/crowded) events might be fun and all! I understand, but the story and stunning landscape/scenery I enjoy the most.
This video makes me stoked I got a Glady Ruby. Mine is still stock and it shows these things are pretty capable from the factory, unmoded. At least for a midsize pickup! Thanks Matt!
We saw you guys over at the great west tire shop and tried to catch you guys before you left, wanted to say hello and buy some shirts. I didn’t think you guys went out this far to kingman az. Keep up the awesome recoveries and videos
GREAT job filming Matt.
GREAT job driving Colby and Kaulin.
Very good job.
Hardest working and most functional machines in the Off-Road recovery business. I respect Matt for always trying to minimize additional damage to his clients stranded vehicles. Most wrecker companies could care less if they cause extra damage.
Well, don't want to be banging it around when it's on video!
My 'me time' today was spent watching this video. I can't imagine a better way to have spent it. Great video, wonderful scenery, very technical recovery, excellent parenting. What more could anyone ask for?
Get some Colby valves. On the trail easy fix. Replace a valve stem in 2 minutes. They are awesome.
Matt's rock stacking abilities are on point
I see what you did there...and I like it. Lol!
I've fixed a tire with duct tape before. Tractor tire. Knocked it off the bead so I could put a piece of duct tape on the inside. Worked like a charm. I've also repaired a torn sidewall by using 1/4-20 carriage bolts to bolt a piece of galvanized sheet metal on the inside and outside , and sealing it with Silicone caulk. I have also pulled a tire back onto the bead with sheet rock screws. Old racing trick. Drill holes through the bead of the rim, and put screws through. That was how they used to deal with the rim spinning inside the tire before there was such a thing as beadlock rims. None of those are permanent fixes, but when you have an $1800 tire that won't hold air, and you have to order a new one and wait for delivery, you do what you need to so you can get back to work. Also, I recommend keeping an inner tube that is about the right size for the tire in your rig, as well as some bailing wire, a cordless drill, and a bit. Tear a sidewall, and you can drill a bunch of holes around the tear, and basically sew the side wall back together with the wire. (twist the ends together on the outside, keep the holes a couple of inches from the tear, spread them out and do a couple of rows, and when you think you have enough stitches, keep going, because you can't overdo it.) Knock the valve out, put the tube in, reinflate, and go. Won't last forever, and it isn't safe for highway speeds because the tire will be grossly out of balance. It can get you off a trail, and to a tire shop. If not, you're still stuck with a torn sidewall, which you had anyway.
Note that the screw trick will ruin the rim, but if you're trying to get the tire to seal on a bent rim, it's already ruined.
Matt you have taught your guys well. They both came out with minimal coaching. Thanks for sharing the mines. Thst was interesting and says something about the history of the area you were in.
I always scratch my head what people are thinking when the do these crazy adventures. I have a 89 Jeep Wrangler from Moab and a 2021 4Runner TRD Pro. I enjoy off road not destroying my wheelers
I was wondering that. I have a pristine JKRR and would never do those trails. I guess a little damage won't lower the resale too much, but I won't bang mine up, nor will I buy a used on that has been.
First double Pinocchio today Matt, lol. I was at Kingman beginning March late on a Sunday, but unfortunately all business were closed. Took pics of Santa Fe engine and caboose. (Engine was a pigeon coop) two of pink carts. Biker shop behind Mr. Ds didn't know what they were for. I had not been to Kingman since 1966, driving a VW from Connecticut to Anaheim after deployment in France. (DeGalle kicked U.S. and NATO out). Many memories, leaving Anaheim at 3:30 a.m. in 50 merc 4 door, 6 kids and Mom, hot desert, windows open, watering hanging from hood ornament. Yea, I'm old, (79 pushing 80 in Sept. 2 yrs ago stopped in, met Ed, Lizzie and Jefe. Last year stopped in met Rhett, Matt and Jaime were just leaving, but were gracious to stop say hi and wave. Will be by end of March or early April. Hope to meet and greet. Hello from Oregon.
And this video is a perfect example of why there is only one channel like MORR - because of the team. The team exists because of one of thing - Matt! This video could be used for management training. When you run things like Matt does, you end up with an excellent team that is happy on the job.
Glad you let the boys do the driving....
And great camera work Matt!
Matt and crew, great video. Long distance recovery again, glad all went well for coming out of the canyon. I feel sorry for the guy that was driving, maybe he think twice before taking off by him self. Matt should do more videos. David B.,Utah. 🐕🐕🇺🇲🇺🇲❤❤❤.
Now this is the MORR of old that I grew watchin back in the day........ lol. Great vid.
For those who haven't done much of this, the hardest obstacles rely way more on spotter skill than driver skill. Only the spotter can see all the terrain details that dictate the required line. All the driver has to do is do what he's told.
Yep. While dragging one elbow on the ground, looking at the sky over the hood. No problem.
Yep, completely agree. In the Off Road Games live chat everyone was like, man would they get a move on! This isn't racing lol
You guys should start doing food reviews in your recovery videos!lol I love the focus on the meal in every video.
That’s some boss rock stacking skills Matt! 👍🏻👍🏻 That was an amazing recovery. The white Jeep needed bigger tires and a lift before attempting that trail.
Kaukin:”I don’t want to hit that doing 45”.
And the customer thanks you Kaulin.
"Doc Hudson" power slide on the canyon wall.
Thanks for the lesson on stacking rocks. That's something I try to avoid doing out in the rough stuff, but I understand when it's needed and how it can keep you from getting high centered if you do it before you get to the obstacle.
great video, good job colby....but i have to say, it is so humbling that you invite us all in to share in your relationship with your son.....reminds me of my dad.....you're a good man Matt.
Need to carry “Colby valve stems” for quick tire valve stem replacement on the trails 😊
I have 100% thought about jumping onto a train and wing it for a week.
Same with just driving in a random direction till you need gas...
Awesome recovery!
Ed's looking great!
I love how Colin isn't afraid to use the word "pretty!"
Cannot believe he took a stock gladiator that deep solo! Nice rock stacking work Matt.
What I just saw was a very capable driver doing some incredible wheeling with a Stock Jeep. Gladiator is not my preferred body style, but with the Rubicon Package, it made it out. Great Video.
I live in Kingman.. The hualapai mountains are definitely a good place to go 4x4. To bad you guys didn't have a guide, lots of fun spots around
Still a great channel! But I sure miss Lizzie, Trevor, Rudy (I know he has his own channel), and Tucker! "Ruuuddddy!!!" - Trevor
Especially Trevor and Lizzie, they were 2 gems ❤❤
We need a reunion episode
Tucker and Trevor have a channel now too
There more things change, the more they stay the same.
agree with the exception of Lizzy and the new Dizzy is worse.
You know how you can tell thats a Christmas tree? Because of the way it is. That's pretty neat!
In addition to recovering the customers vehicle... He also goes the extra mile to get the tire repaired for the customer. that's a 5 star review there..
Perfect example of what a couple inch lift and bigger tires would do for ya!
yall changed that tire at my exit 3 miles from my house. i'm a BIG fan of your channel. i am planning a trip to hurricun. soon and will stop by.
I have been in that canyon and even have a chunk of copper ore from the stream bed there where you turned around at. we came up from the bottom like you did and decided at that fall we had enough. That a bone stock Gladiator made it down is testament to the driver and that piece of equipment. He was wise to stop and let the professionals finish for him. About 3 miles up the road in Kings Canyon Gold Mine, a really fun ride. Glad you enjoyed our neighborhood and neck of the woods.
Nice recovery! That was a pretty good testing for the Rubicon. Kaulin is doing great on the rock crawling. Few more years and he's going to be an old pro.!
It might be a clear day, but Lighting can still come out on anywhere at any time to get you Matt "I for one Always fuel up before a job?" "And I never run out." Hmmm. Most gnarly jobs? Where's The WLOR Wrecker? Hopefully the owner heard you about larger tires and maybe some upgrades too since stock is not really a good 4x4 vehicle except for gravel roads. The Jeeping World is definitely a different world, and it is Awesome. Always go last into an unknown mine, that way you can run out if something goes wrong, nobody to trip over. Challenging recovery but fun to watch. Duct Tape a 4-Wheerers essential item.
Still my favorite channel and another great rescue. Everybody on this team is top notch. Kolby always does awesome with the camera and drone footage and he did great driving the Banana. Could tell he was having fun.
“I don’t want to hit it at 45”. Hilarious 😂, y’all are the best!!❤
Matts best LOST Gold Mine recovery ever. Great content as usual, great scenery. The problem solving skills of Matt are invaluable, he would have been the best Gold Mine road builder of 1858. The things Matt knows by instinct are written in No Book -- anywheres. The Banana lives up to the legend every time, and as always "They get em out".
“Is that mountain lion urine we’re smelling?” Famous last words 😂
I am seven minutes into this video and I am jealous. So far it looks like a great trip. I would have taken the Morrvair as well. We shall see what happens. I just finished and that was an amazing recovery. It is not as involved at the Espanola NM recovery but it was a beautiful setting. Kaulin and Colby did great following the guidance of the master Matt.
2:37 reference to the tandem bicycle for a couple had milk coming out my nose from laughing. Know the staging area well, now I'll just have to find the trail the rescue occurred on. Further south are some really nice 4x4 trails that go from the east side of the mountain to the west side. Great content, thanks for sharing.
I'm not surprised this Gladiator has a cracked windshield. I've replaced three windshields in my 2020 Gladiator.
Those Gladiators impress me every time I see them taken to their limit. That is a seriously gnarly road for a stock vehicle.
Welcome to Kingman! If I had know you guys were in town, I'd have bought you lunch!
Several thousand of us would of showed up 😊
LOL, I retract the offer!@@lightman489
Lived 13 years in AZ, and done lot of wheeling in around Kingman and think we did that exact wash a time or two. Did that area in with our 1996 XJS (2 inch lift, Detroit rear, limited slip front on 33x12.50s) and our stock 1990 Land Cruiser LJ78G Prado Light (32x8.50s and select-able rear/open front), although the LC did have a pretty high off-chamber pucker factor on that loose decomposing granite typical of central and western AZ. I hope the JTR owner was a 4x4 newbie. Where he stopped, could have easily jacked up vehicle, then driven off the jack. Maybe that is how he pretezeled his jack tool. Glad to see Colby did not rock tattoo any doors or 1/4 panels.Matt, also be wary of those mine tunnels. Someone mentioned snakes, but we did a lot of mine investigating in western AZ (wife wrote for AZ Highway magazine). We ran across many that still had explosives (dynamite or even older nitro) stashed in them (miner stocked the mine, but never came back). Be very wary of any mine that was wooden boardwalks in them. Under the boardwalk is where a lot of stuff got stashed, and if a foot goes through....BOOM. Remember, it is always funny until someone gets hurt. Then it is freaking hilarious. Semper Fi.
I had a 1975 CJ5 and the short wheel base made a huge difference in situations like that. Just makes we wonder why anyone would take that long of a vehicle, especially stock.
I can answer that. My built Gladiator would have done that trail with little difficulty. And I could have taken a lot more creature comforts with me. But I agree a stock rig has no business on that trail. 37s and a lift are required for those trails in that rig.
Jeep markets their products in a manner that encourages such behaviors. But honestly, good for that owner for using his or her jeep for actual off-roading. A friend of mine has a bronco that has barely seen a gravel road…
That’s exactly what I was thinking!
Inexperienced , over confident and excited to be in the great outdoors.
That was the first thing I thought when they released the Gladiator, just way too big of a wheelbase. Really handicaps the vehicle on trails like this.
I like that you keep right except to pass.
As a normal human being does. Only serial killers and incompetents sit in the left lane and make rolling roadblocks for everyone else to suffer.
Having driven through most of the lower 48, I can attest that Utah drivers are quite considerate.
Spotter Schmotter. Al Davis would say, “Just drive, baby!” Good job boys! If Jeep guy is from Kingman, prolly got too far from crack pipe, had just enough energy to run home😅
I always find it amazing watching you all recover stranded vehicles from dangerous situations 👍👍🙈👌
Nice one guys. Perhaps you should carry a couple ramps and a Spare tire on the roof.
Now that’s funny!! 🤣🤣🤣
I am a Jeep Wrangler JLUR XR owner myself. Not intending to disparage anyone but my only observation is that somebody drank too much of that Jeep Cool-Aid. It IS pretty intoxicating to us new Jeep owners. Nice recovery, Team MORR
Matt and his family seem like good people! I really like watching you guys work!
We always fuel up after a job that way it’s ready to go for the next job and don’t have to worrie about stopping and getting fuel keep up the amazing content still need a land anchor ⚓️ 😊
Over on amazon they got some emergency valve stems you install from the outside. No tire removal needed. Maybe toss a few in the glovebox.
Colby is the brand.
Don't think those would work for this one because of the Tire Pressure Monitor System.
That's good you going back to your roots!! I just back at looking at your videos!
Great filming & story!! Thanks!!
I remember the prewinch days
Wise choice to evolve the amazing Banana
This was fun to watch.👍
That’s awesome you guys came down to Kingman! You were literally in my backyard. Wish I knew you were there that would have been fun. We wheel that trail often. It’s called Safelite. That mountain is full of awesome rock crawling trails! Glad you made it out safe. 🤙
Great video....Done well getting it out of there...Stay safe and see you on the next one
That smell in the mines is from packrats. It's the ammonia smell from the animals pee that your noticimg.
