    Great tip for hero 10 footage especially for 5k 60. Been using the LRV files as proxies since Hero 7 mostly when shooting 4k 4:3 and 2.7k 4:3 60fps videos. Usually premier would auto link the renamed proxy files automatically once searched but sometimes it doesn't for some reason so have to manually link files.

    On my Hero9, I get LRV files I can use for proxy files when I record 1080p/60fps and 4K/30fps, but not 4K/60fps. Do the hero10 and/or hero11 generate LRV files when recording 4K/60fps? This setting is when they would be most useful.

    Tried this out and found the Hero10 proxy resolution to be very low res and grainy plus the renaming etc to be a little cumbersome. Using Davinci Resolve, I choose ¼ resolution in Project Setting, make a new folder for Proxies, highlight all the media and let Resolve make the proxy files for me. takes 5 mins while I make a coffee and everything is all linked and ready to rock. Good tip for those using Premiere tho and thanks for your content

    By the way, what about when you're editing slow motion files ? Is there a difference or something important to know ?

    • @abekislevitz
      @abekislevitz  Před 2 lety +1

      The biggest thing with slow motion is you can’t interpret the frame rate, because the proxy won’t change. So you can go about the normal way with percentage and retiming fine, but no interpretation of the frame rate

  • @rajgrover1829
    @rajgrover1829 Před 2 lety

    Is it possible to use the LRV files created by the GoPro Max as proxy files with the FX Reframe plugin? It's not clear to me how to create a Equiretangular proxy file, which is what I think is required.

    • @abekislevitz
      @abekislevitz  Před 2 lety

      Use the proxy presets I provided here for equirectangular. But no those LRV files aren’t stitched, they are basically just two lenses put next to each other.

  • @MattiaMosca_
    @MattiaMosca_ Před 2 lety

    But only with the gopro hero 10 i can do it? Because also the other gopro (like my gopro hero 8) create the lrv files.. It's a different lrv file? I didnt understand

    • @abekislevitz
      @abekislevitz  Před 2 lety +1

      Same LRV, but HERO10 makes LRV for all files where 8 and 9 are just some. Some are too high powered for it to make both

  • @ernestasandrijauskas2348

    Does Hero 9 have .LRV files for every video also? I see only more footage taken on resolutions and framerates with H.264 codec. Is it possible to enable .LRV files for everything?

    • @kyakfsh
      @kyakfsh Před rokem +1

      I also have the Hero 9 and am seeing some formats do not generate LRV files. It doesn't seem to be tied to the codec, but to the writing speed. 1080p/30 and 4K/60 both use the H265 codec. But 1080p/30, 4K/30, and 1080p/60 all generate LRV files, but 4K/60 does not. I'd like to know if the Hero10 and Hero11 generate LRV files in 4K/60. Maybe there is some kind of SD card write speed limitation that stops the LRV generation at the highest data rates no matter which camera you use.

    • @abekislevitz

    • @randelman
      @randelman Před 2 lety

      @@abekislevitz thanks, Abe. I did exactly that, but Premiere always selected the original video files as proxies...!?
      I only got it to work after changing the second letter of the proxy filename from "L" to "X". The first part of the proxy filename was identical to original video filename. Adding "_proxy" at the end of the filename was no problem then. (Premiere 22, Windows 10)
