Mammoth on a Sunny Pow Day - POV

- Trying something new! I'm always shooting POV when I go skiing, but I rarely share the results. Seeing if you guys enjoy seeing what goes on behind the scenes! Let me know in the comments if you enjoy!

This has been a winter to remember at @mammothmountain so far. This was all shot in a single day at Mammoth in December 2022.
This video was shot entirely on GoPro.
The POV was shot with GoPro Max using these settings:
Res: 5.6K-30 (360)
Color: Flat
ISO Min: 100
ISO Max: 400
WB: Auto
Sharpness: Low
The rest was shot on HERO11 Black with these settings:
Res: 5.3K 8:7-30
Color: Natural
10 Bit: On
Bit Rate: HIgh
ISO Min: 100
ISO Max: 1600
WB: Auto
Sharpness: Low
All audio was directly from the cameras with no alterations.

DUDE, I ENJOY. I've been watching your stuff since you did the USC ski & snowboard vids, and this honestly is my favorite video you've made (Daydreams no. 2). It's so simple and refreshing. Sorry if that's disappointing for all the work you do on the other ones haha. When I go skiing, I don't listen to music, it's not a candy-coated, EDM fused over-extended adrenaline rager. I'd get out there and just listen to the sound of the skies and the snow, feel the wind and cold on my face. That's what I loved about it. It's beautiful enough on it's own. I just moved to TX recently, rip skiing, and this video brings me back to what I love about skiing. So ya... LOVE. Thanks, Abe. Keep up the great work. :)

Awesome! With that POV, my body leans into the turns through the trees as I watch. I didn't realize so much of Mammoth was above tree line.

“Raw” my guy this is a shit ton of editing and color grading in premiere pro and after effects, if GoPro footage looked this good right out the box GoPro’s would be sold out 😂

Where do you mount your go pro, and how do you prevent it from dying in the cold. My go pro hero 7 black will record for 5 seconds then it will die.

Hey man can you elaborate more? I still have an old school gopro with minimal stabilization and looking to get this kind of footage. Do I need to do 360 and all that? Or can I get the latest black gprop and have similar perspective? Looks like a chest mount also, but as a snowboarder going down the mountain sideways that wouldn't work I think I need to stick to the helmet mount. Thanks!
@@Chris11249 hey, you asked this on my comment, you might want to ask Abe directly so he sees it, i can't really help you with these questions, i don't snowboard or ski. I use my GoPros for totally different kind of videos.
@@Chris11249 You won't get all these views from a GoPro Hero.
A 360 camera, such as the GoPro Max or Insta360 X3 is needed to get the ultrawide views and 3rd person views.

I have ! It’s great! Horizon lock is up to preference, but the max lens mod is great for wide stable shots !
@@abekislevitz Yes. I think it will give a very similar video to your videos using HERO max. I will do this setting in my next MMS trip by the end of this month. Hopefully not a big blizzard and I really do not want to see the mountain closed.

Hey Abe! What you are using to achieve the motion blur in post, since MAX doesn’t work with NDs that well? The motion looks incredibly smooth!

Love your content man! How are you able to get rid of your stitch line so well on the MAX? I struggle to capture clips while skiing where it doesnt show up in the shot when using the "unicorn", bite, and standard helmet mount
Not doing anything special. Always making sure lenses are perfectly clean to the edge, and trying to not have any stitch lines in the view as much as possible generally.
