It's a damn good transmitter/receiver combo. I see no reason not to get this transmitter. You will not be disappointed..
I have 5 of these 6 channels for everything from a crawler with lights and a winch, my 144001 brushless beast to an RC motorcycle. and a rally car and a vintage Thunder Tiger Silver Fox Nitro beast from 1984.
Brilliant radio. Simple. Crisp instant response and great battery life too, even with 4 AA alkalines.
If you change the steering wheel over to a nice foam one they feel even better.
They have incredible range, Haven't gone anywhere as far as you Matt but mine never miss a beat.
Definitely better than 99% of stock controllers.
Handy review Matt. I have one arriving soon so now looking forward to it even more. Keep up the good work
Thanks Justin!
Very good test you helped me end my search for a remote receiver
did someone test it on rc boat? i have Flysky and works on rc cars but on rc boats 25 feets no signal
Thanks so much now I know how to control the gyro thanks to you🙌🏽🙌🏽very appreciated ☝🏽
Super excellent reveiw. Inexpensive, high performance. Just got the same one, dif color. You rock 👍👍💯
Thanks dude! 😊 and you rock 🤟
That range! Also gratz on the 10k!
Thanks!
I have 4 of these now, and they're great. 👍🏻
Awesome video bro can't believe it made it that far I definitely need a transmitter upgrade 👍👊💯
Yeah they awesome man! Great for crawlers too with all those channels! 😀
It's definitely the best low budget car radio Thx for sharing, mate :)
100%
No worries 😀
One of the best transmitters I have used and I have used many.
100%
Which channel will you recommend for a two speed transmission? Great channel you got.
I bought one 3 weeks ago to you with my crawler. I did a range test and I stopped at 600 meters. Was still going. Just crazy.
That's crazy dude
I have 3 of them!! Trust me they are superior! Great channel thank you!
Thanks mate 😀
My one remote feels like it hits full turn way too soon and needs more degrees of wheel rotation. Would you say this turns tight, loose or about right?
i believe the USB port is for firmware updates. mine hasnt arrived yet, so im not 100 on that
Great stuff Matthew! DumboRc is pretty awesome for the cost! Thanks for the hard work! You can bind it to an infinite amount of receiver's, just no memory for end points.....
Thanks Randal! And really? As many as you want? That's awesome! It's definitely my new go to for bashers and cheaper speed runs projects etc.. haha
@@MatthewSimm and I'm so stoked you reminded me about the backwards gyro function. I knew something just wasn't quite right, lol!
What if you turn on 2 rc cars at the same time... How does it input which one to control?
@@stokedGSXR I think once it's bound, it's secure. Turning on another receiver won't grab the transmitter that's already on and bind to it. I've got two Dumbo transmitters and a bunch of receivers in different cars. Never had an issue running both transmitters.
No end point? Does that mean you have to set the end points every time you change car on it?
I am pretty happy with 3 of mine dumbos :)
I'm currently was using this radio for my speed runs lmao😂
I’m an a fan of this radio, if it was 200$ ide still buy it. With my custom builds, I need the features it has and fully able to control the the throttle and steering throw. With AA batteries it last a very long time. I did not expect it to work so well. It has crisp response as well. I use it on my Xmaxx and Mojave. People think because it’s cheap, it’s garbage. Hands down better then any stock controller. 👍💯 great video!
Oh I actually thought the same thing dude! I thought because it was a cheap radio, that it wouldn't be as good as it is but I'm seriously impressed! This will be my main bashing controller, but I'll still use the RC6GS for speed run for that extra few handy features! 😉
@@MatthewSimm what features help with speed running? I just ordered the dumbo rc for my limitless but this comment has me thinking of returning it for the radiolink. Thanks.
i bought one.. i found out my ecx barrage came with a transmitter with the same range.. im trying to get more range out of my a959-b
Awesome video thanks for the knowledge looks to be a really good transmitter. I need to get me one of those gps seems everyone has the same one great work friend 🤝👍🤟🙂
Thanks mate and yeah this gps are good 👍
Good review. Appreciate it
No problem 👍
Great video. I am very interested in upgrading from my WL Toys 124017 transmitter. Cheers
That would be an awesome upgrade. Also look at the eachine tx6
I have one but can't figure out how the set the end points on channels 3 or 4. I seem to have only found the way to set the % of throw from right to left but not each side individually. Is there a way? If not then this is junk.
Can I pair this setup with another dumbo x6fg receiver?
Can you bind these to multiple cars please?
Loved your content
Thanks 😊
Would your recommend this radio for the arrma Mojave exb
Can this dumborc x6 reciver can work with 11.1volt battery?
Oh yes brilliant transmitter
What is channel 4 battery output for?
Dude! I love the Dumbos I've have them in airboats, speed run slashes....... I even have one in the cen f450. Dumbo radios and zee batteries all the way.
Ps. Keep the content coming! When you're videos drop it's like a lil gift.
Thanks bro! I appreciate it, I have some fun stuff coming!
I'll be definitely using these for my bashers, don't want to take an expensive controller out bush but I want something that still works well
nice vid, its literally identical/clone to Etronix Pulse EX6G 6 !
I'll have to check that out cheers 😀
Best rc investment i ever made.✌
thanks for the review
No problem!
I have one..Works darn good for the price
it sure does :)
what speed tester you got please,
What is the difference between x6 vs x6p vs x6a
i have more expensive radios. but for 35 dollars, you get a better than stock (Traxxas/Arrma) transmitter AND a receiver with a gyro. better range than TR/ARRma too
'
is R/C come with a receiver...
what number plug use a pack of four AA battery in a receiver
I'm using this on my crawler, performance is way above it's price point.
Since you've had this for about a year maybe you can help: a portion of these radios have an issue where they simply just lock up and keep sending the same signal (full throttle and right turn for example) for 1-3 seconds... causing run aways and such. ... it resets and you gain control again.
have you had this? if not is there any chance you could open yours and help those of us who have this issue.... it might be that a new revision of the control board has removed this bug OR this is a manufacturing defect due to some bad soldering or something..... detailed shots of both of these might help solve the issue for those of us looking for a solution(so far ive only found ppl talking about the issue no solution yet)
Hi Matt, Chayan here, hope you are doing good! I have done the same changes to my rc car added a DumboRC X6 2.4GHz 6CH FHSS Radio Transmitter but I am having some issues with it the reverse wont work properly but to car is going forward can you let me know what the issue is please ..
Hey Chayan 👋
I'm well, thank you! What about yourself?
It's really hard to diagnose any issues without being there in person.
The only thing I can suggest is to read the instruction manual and check to see if the receiver has a no reverse mode (this is common when racing as alot of racing events don't allow for reversing)
If this does not work, I do suggest taking it to your local hobby shop, it should be a very simple fix.
Sorry I cannot do more to help you..
Best of luck!
Whats the Aux for?
I own two of them. For bashers, and rc cars where precision isnt a concern, they are fine. Setting up endpoints isn't really a thing on these radios, and after 3 years I have noticed the steering channel started getting twitchy while the radio is sitting still. It also fails to center in the same spot every time(just touching the steering without moving it will make the wheels turn 1/8 of an inch and return to center) I'm nitpicking at this point but anymore I want the ability to set endpoints, open up the deadband, and chill out the sensitivity for my crawlers so it's not as twitchy. Right now I'm looking at a fs gt5, or radiolink....need the functionality, and consistency of a slightly more expensive radio.
Yes you can link 10ish receivers to one controller, however it will occasionally fail to link, like it just forgets, and has to be re- binded. But thats only occasionally
Just buy a true product like futaba or spektrum bro.
Just ordered
I use one of these on my Arrma Typhon and it's a lot more responsive than the stock SLT3 radio. It's super sensitive. I do find sometimes I accidentally apply the brake when I don't want to while jumping. It's user error but the radio is very very sensitive.
I have 2 controllers, one has a mod I have never seen yet on utube ,will do a video soon 👊🏻👍🏻
Looking forward to it 😀
It doesn’t matter the orientation of the gyro placement? You don’t have to put it on the center of the car? Some are saying you have to place it in the center.
If you liked it, you absolutely need to try the DDF350
I'll try get my hands on one!
@@MatthewSimm Lemme know how you find it!
It work with rc car gasoline?
Best radio for the money! One of my receivers cost £40 for my noble which is a joke considering they have less channels, no gyro, less range and it's double the size of a Dumbo receiver. I have the Dumbo aswel and if it looked better and had a better name I'd use it for all my rc's 🤣 great video dude 👍🏻
Have you tried the RC6GS? It has all the fancy features, 600m range, small and cheap reciever etc.. oh and cheap!
@@MatthewSimm I know the one mate! Looks real good for the money! If I needed a radio now that's one I would certainly consider especially for the speed runs 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hey man, do live our West Sydney somewhere... like Seven Hills.?
Hey dude, I'm actaully closer to Adelaide but I'm in Victoria
what is that for a rc?
best intro ever 🤣
😉
Yep, nice transmitter, I agree.
But I have some situation:) let say "a problem".
I have 4 cars with brushless systems onboard and 1 car with brushed combo. Dumbo works excellent with those that brushless. But! With brushed one there is one thing: brake force is very weak, almost none brakes. Tried different brushed esc's with this transmitter, not programmable and programmable, tried recalibration of transmitter itself but....the results are all the same - weak brake force (like 5%). Also to make sure it was not a motor, Itried stock wltoys transmitter+ brushed ecs combo with this motor - works excellent.
Dumbo transmitter works excellent (on brushed car) with forward and reverse, left and right, but maaaan the breaks are almost none. (All brushless cars brakes nicely with the same dumbo transmitter)
Did anyone have such a situation?)) Maybe solution? Thanks in advance 👍😉🙏
This or the HotRC /Rarlo CT-8A ? Thanks
Try the new dumborc ddf-350 I like all of these but I'd say the dumbo as it has better range etc.. I am doing a review on that soon
What is the difference between the gyro version receiver vs non gyro receiver? What does the gyro do? Thank you.
The gyro on the reciever helps countersteer for you on your RC car. Helping you drift easier without spinning out.
@@pmilitary047 I'm new to RC cars and really appreciate the response. Thank you for the explanation 😊👍
@@darkknight17 I only know this myself after receiving my gyro equipped RC car yesterday to be able to experience it for myself. ☺️
@@pmilitary047 I actually bought a cheap Chinese entry level but very fast RC car called WLTOYS 144010. They are pretty fast at approx 40mph top speed. I had to upgrade the RC transmitter and was thinking about getting one that came with a gyro when I originally wrote this comment a year ago. I ended up getting two WLTOYS 144010 cars, and upgraded them both - one with and one without a gyro. Gyro is definitely the way forward. DRIFTS are insane fun, tyres do wear out but parts are cheap on Ebay and fun to fix.
I think you may be able to bind it to an infinite amount of receivers. I know Kev uses it, and I'm pretty sure he said it was an infinite amount.
It would have a memory so I don't think it'll be infinite 🤔
@@MatthewSimm maybe not then. I'll see if I can find anything.
Let us know 😀
I know I have mine binded to 3 of mine. Drag slash, pede 4x4 and my mst
@Matthew Simm that's why it's infinite. Each to you switch RX you have to redo endpoints etc....
To answer your question, this radio became so popular because Kev Talbot kept leaning on them. Little do alot of people know that he sold them hence his 'love' for them. That is why they are so popular. Ive got about 4 or 5 as they are ok. They range is only good on flat ground but not great at hilly landscapes at distance. They have a tendency to make cars reverse of their own accord ( ive seen it myself sooo many times ). They are ok, i mainly buy them because they are so cheap
Yeah I know Kevin leaned on these a lot but I'd love proof that he was selling them? I knew he would make affiliate commissions like the rest of us but I didn't hear that he was selling them
@@MatthewSimmive been told by a few diff mutual friends. I dont knw what proof you would need or how to provide it - ask him ?? Lol great review and vid idea ☺
A link to where he sells them would be pretty good proof I guess haha and thanks dude 😀
@@MatthewSimm i honestly dont think he does anymore tbh. And the link would just be a link as he doesnt proclaim hes the one selling it see. Just ask him is prob the best way if you want proof mate ☺
Facts
400M is no good to me ......i can't see that far ! best regards from (Old) South Wales !
Imagine pairing it with fpv antenna and you got yourselft a land drone
While the price and the upsides mentioned is very good, it still has some limitations that you might find yourself needing.
Like the lack of endpoint adjustment(Including going past 100%).
As I found out when I needed a large amount of trim, that left me with little movement in one side and a large in the other.
Normally you would be able to compensate by manually adjusting the steering links or servo arm, but it wasn't a option.
So I had to swap it for a Radiolink RC6GS.
Oh I agree the RC6GS is better, but it is 3 times the price and sometimes budget is people first choice.
It does have end point adjustment but yes it's a bit limited, still great for the average user 👍
@@MatthewSimm It's dual rate, as it limits both sides the same amount.
I've got two 6 channel versions and one 4 channel.
I do like them, but you need to be able to make manual adjustments on the cars steering .
Both my Granite and Big rock have fixed steering links, so I would have to replace the links to compensate.
I got my 124019 to 180kph with a Dumbo, but it doesn't need the full range of motion, and i could adjust the steering on the car itself.
Yeah in that case, the RC6GS is definitely the way to go! I'm personally not a fan of the dual antennas for just bashing, but you can still buy the single antenna receiver (I forgot the model number haha)
@@MatthewSimm Yep, as far as I can remember, the single antenna receiver has the same range as the Dumbo.
I was using the FS-GT5 for a while, but it has trouble with wifi interference and range.
@@RandomloserDK I just had to join in. I also swapped the Dumbo for the RC6GS, in my case the V2. The Dumbo had not a good range. I measured 265 meters with GPS. Not enough for my speedruns because too much delay/lag. The 265 m would be enough, but the lag - my goodness! The Dumbo was a real disappointment, perhaps I received a dud of course, who knows. My RC6GS and the dual antenna receiver on the other hand, simply 👍
Good review and experiment. I've been using a DumboRC X6 for more than a year already for five of my bashers. You can bind one X6 to probably an infinite number of receivers but you have to adjust the settings -- EPA and trim every time you switch RCs but it's not a big deal for general bashing. More than the range, I like it too because it's frequency/signal/protocol is more resistant to interference. Oh, the X6FG receiver with gyro is also cheaper compared to Flysky ones.
Please don't get people's hope up, this transmitter does not have end point adjustment.
It has dual rate instead.
It does have end point edjustment dude
Hey thanks Alexi! It's definitely my new go to rc transmitter for bashing 😀 I just need more receivers now haha
@@MatthewSimm No, it has dual rate instead, dual rate turns down both left and right side the same amount.
You can't set the endpoint for let's say the right side alone.
Yes you're right, but its good to have some sort of adjustment, considering it's only around $30
can you try it on the xmaxx? would really love to see it on the xmaxx as no one has done it on youtube. i want to buy it for my xmaxx but wish to see why people dont use it on the xmaxx. would love to see a qucik install and review on it. thank you
Had 1 It Sucks Especially The RANGE😮 HORRIBLE!! SENT IT BACK got the X4 and it takes like 5sec from Forward 2 Reverse but the Range is Better😀👊👍✌️🦼🦅🇺🇸
