And welcome back to another Tekken 8 video!
With the saga between Jin and Kazuya having finally concluded, today I though It would be the perfect time to sit down and talk, about a surprise reveal In the Dark Awakens story, a remanent of a lost era, and mysterious allusive character of the franchise, Angel, or as we say In Tekken 8’s story, Angel Jin!
Now Angel Is an old, and i mean very old character within the franchise, one as mysteriousas Jun Kazama, but why so has this been the case for the character, especially her for her narrative significance and role In Tekken 8’s story?
Well that’s what we will be exploring In todays video, as well as her connection with the devil gene!
With that being said, It Is worth noting that this video will be an interesting hybrid video of sorts, one based around the character of Angel In the franchise, and then how that’s implemented Into Tekken 8’s story through Jin Kazama!

Interesting to note, there might have been a hint even earlier of the presence of Angel Jin. At the end of Tekken 4, when Jin defeats Heihachi and Kazuya, and he prepares to do a killing blow, he has a brief vision of Jun and decides to leave them. As he flies off, a single single white feather descends, something Angel leaves behind in her non canon Tag endings.

Honestly, that was such a good payoff, since it makes sense he's unconsciously channeling a little Kazama energy since his mum's on his mind.

Harada stated that Jin wings is due to his kazama blood, so I would say Angel is a kazama thing
By that logic, all bird's are Kazama's and all other beings with non feather wings are devils.

On Twitter a fan asked Harada, why does kazuya devil look different from jin devil like their wings etc. And is it because Jin's kazama blood. And Harada replied yes, Jin's kazama blood is why his devil looks different from Kazuaya's. That tweet was prior to the TK8 release. Now long times fans have always wondered about this and the kazamas connection to Angel, because of the purification power. Fun fact in one of the old tekken comics, Jun transforms into Angel 😇.

I think the power of purification is exclusive to the Kazama line and the Angel is a representation of that power. As for the Hachijo the Manifestation of Devil works in similar manner, which slowly corrupts the users, along with the Mishima who uses their electrical abilities to dominate the battlefield.
My childhood dream actually came true to play Angel Jin. My brother and I laughed a lot about how we used costumes and characters to make up stories back in Tekken 5.

Haven't played FF14 but I have played every main offline ff and Jin does indeed resemble the Warrior of Light from FF1.
Not surprised, especially devil Jins wings were not a traditional demonic wings. Seing his TK5 pallet swap with White wings I knew that one day he will become an angel. Also he is momas boy so no surprised

To see Jin in Angel Form was unexpected, but surprising! Ik Angel been missing for years in the cannon story, but she still apart of it, just as much as The Devil. Honestly, I like this form, something different in the storyline, hopefully in the next installment, we get more of Angel Jin character development! Again, amazing storyline, great characteristics, game features, great fighting.

Jun will likely help Kazuya to redeem himself between his defeat at the hands of Jin, and the next installment- and he and Jin will fight side by side as normal people (by Tekken standards) to combat what remains of Azazel's power.
Jin's Angel form wasn't surprising. It was hinted at since T4 with the white feather among the black feathers falling off Devil Jin's wings when he flies off the Hon-Maru temple. It was only a matter of time his Angel form would finally emerge.
I just wanted to say that Jin is in reality Seya. His Rage art is "Pegasus Ryuuseken" and at the end of the game he even gains a cloth /armor xD

@@ladynikkieI can see it being a Costume for Devil Jin in the future, game is too new and that is too big of a spoiler to just find someone online as Angel Jin, so just wait a bit till the games been out and people's had time to play/watch the story.
Edit: What i really want is the Nephalem (Half Angel, Half Demon) form we got to play for like 2 minutes before he went full Angel.
If Reina is going to be the new big bad, I think it woube nice to have Jin and Asuka take the mantle of Jun and Angel. We know that Asuka has Kazama purifying powers from Tekken 5, so it would be nice to see her come into her own.

My thing is this, I believe is canon that Jin's Devil Gene created the mark on his left arm, and that the Devil Gene can't exist without Azazel.
If Jin's mark is still present and Reina has a Devil form, then both Azazel and the Devil Gene are still around. Maybe Kazuya doesn't have it anymore but Jin and Reina most likely still do, as well as all of Kazuya's future also evil siblings until the game stops making money.
Damn shame, was hoping this game would actually end that stuff but it seems like its going to keep going forever.
I started playing tekken from Tekken 6 as a kid, and used to label the alternative outfit for Devil Jin was Jin's "Angel Jin" form since he had white wings and stuff and angelic themes to his pants and gloves aside from the horns.
It's kinda surreal to me that the concept of "Angel Jin" exists now.
I wonder if Asuka Kazama have purification powers like Jun Kazama.
She kinda had it in her Tekken 5 ending.
Considering how she is treated in the series, i doubt it that she will have a important role,just stuck of being a comic joke with Lilly,which is a shame.

Definitely inspired by saint seiya this game and the franchise have a lot of anime references.

honestly, i always thought angel was jun's form, to be a counter part of devil kazuya. Since jun had died, she would show up as angel. Angel showing up within kazuyas head, because Jun was still trying to save him, even in death.
But I was a little kid when i played tekken 2, so that's just my head canon
Jun didn't die. In her side story in Tekken 8, she's shown falling unconscious after defeating Ogre. I interpreted that she's been on a spiritual journey all this time; but very much still alive. She also shows up to Kazuya after the credits of the story mode.

That very last fight when they both don’t have their powers was iconic, legendary incredible the best thing ever in fighting games. Idk if they can or how they’ll top this
Multiple demons multiple Angels. I dont think they meant to replace Angel. After so many years of waiting for Jin to find the Kazama power of good, this reveal was a dream. So grateful to the team for allowing his story to finally go to this path!

TTT3. I think She’s one of the ones that will be exclusive to just the tag games, like Forest Law, Dr Bosconovitch, Michelle, Slim Bob, Ogre. Honestly though I just want Baek and Bruce back.
I think she only will be in Tekken games that involves every Tekken character but I can be wrong.
Tekken 9. I think Angel's one of the ones that will be returned to canon in Main Games, like Jun Kazama return in Tekken 8.

Jun isnt dead. At the end of Tekken 8's credits, Jun shows up standing over a defeated Kazuya. Side stories are unlocked when beating story mode, and Jun's story shows her falling unconscious after beating Ogre. I interpreted that she fell into a slumber and has been on a spiritual journey.
I think with the reveal of Devil Reina tekken 9 is gonna be about Angel Jin vs her as well as Kazuya redeeming himself

Kazuya is beyond redemption at this point. The fact that he STILL had evil intent despite losing the Devil Gene proves that.
@@dionr1168 Kazuya was still all hyped up on Mountain Dew. He wanted to see the fight through to the end. Even starting to walk away after believing he'd defeated Jin, rather than killing him right then and there. Once he regains conciousness, presumably by Jun's side- Jun, coupled with Jin having spared him, and effectively putting an end to the cycle could be enough to steer him away from his "evil intent"- as you put it. Not to mention, nolonger being corrupted by the nature of the Devil Gene after a reasonable amount of time has passed.

Kazuya wont be redeeming a damn thing. He has Satsui No Hado.
And its too much evidence. True Devil Kazuyas teleport sound fx is that of akumas in street fighter and the scene where he forms his fireball in the same way akumas does his hadouken.

To make things interesting tekken 9 should have where kazuya is with jun and she is teaching him that power wasnt always everything. And Jin realizing that Reina wants to kill kazuya and he has to go help kazuya from Reina and both fight togrther against Reina, doesnt work out and Angel arrives to equalize the battle field

Incredible story line, man I had some high expectations for this game but the story really blew my socks off just incredible!!
Wanted Angel in the game but didn't expect Jin to become one though I always thought it should happen.
From Devil Jin to Angel Jin it was a blast addition to the story even though it was short lived.
Maybe they can do something with Asuka after this. Remember her Tekken 5 ending?

I get What you mean however as you said ángel jin is a purification of devil Jin which means that it is a new form a new Power (hence the name change) meaning that is very posible that he can regain that power since after fighting Kazuya he could barely stand and becuase of reina it makes sence to fight the last devil with an ángel.
Sure it does not need to be Jin but there will Lively be a person having the angels power

Given how they Namco hasn't touched on it doesn't mean they won't attempt to make another counter character. Having thrown out a lot of ideas, thet could create another angel based character if they choose to.

But as the canon currently stands with this most recent installment (just released less than a week ago, mind you) Angel Jin returning simply isn't in the cards as the Kazama's have the power of purification, not Amgelhood. The only reason why Jin was able to transform into an "Angel" was because the purification process altered/ enhanced Jins "Devil" state. Without access to that power, it can't be purified and by extension, utilized as a transformation.

Angel Jin was only slightly stronger than True Devil Kazuya who was somewhat challenged by Lars and Reina while Movie Devil treated Jin like a little baby and then Movie Archangel Jin completely dominated that Devil.
Also those non canon forms give a major height boost,showing its a more drastic transformation.
It was stated in the movie that Kazuyas form made him 10x stronger but he didn't seem more than 3x stronger in the game.
It makes sense cause Movie Devil Jin seems both angelic and demonic.
Angel was never retconned from canon.
She is 100% canon.
She was never part of Kazuyas soul,why would Kazuya have a blond woman as part of his soul?
Angel is stated in manuals to simply be just that,an Angel.
She saw what was going on with Kazuya and descended to help him withhis soul by fighting his Devil.
Jun was the one to have the relationship with Kazuya while Angel handled the Devil persona.
She cant possibly be non canon as she appeared in a canon game.
While there have been retcons most of those "retcons" are fans simply not understanding the story.

While there was a retcon there, what was originally said isnt actually undone.
Heihachi throwing him off to test Kazuya is what Heihachi told Kazuya and what Kazuya always believed,as the Tekken 1 story is from Kazuyas perspective.
The scene where Heihachi tells him he is going to test him is still present in story recap in Tekken 8.
Heihachi didnt want to reveal the truth why he did it,but testing Kazuya was simply what was the "public excuse"

I always thought the angelic side of Jin came from his mom, because maybe Jun and the Kazama family bloodline are descendants of Angel.
I actually waited to comment on the Jin, Devil Jin and Jun videos because of this video. Anyway, As someone who has played Tekken 2 growing up I kinda gave up on Angel ever showing up again after Tekken Tag Tournament games. There was no reason why I gave up I just didn't think she would show up again. Angel being retconned out of the story didn't help either. But maybe it was wrong for me to give up on her but it is what is it is. I almost gave up on Jun returning too but I still held on. Honestly Jin is one of my favorites as he was easier to use but mainly I felt more connected to his story since playing Tekken was kind of a thing I did with my Dad and my sister back when I was talking to my dad.
Angel jin basically his devil gene combined with his latent kazama purification power. But I think angel in tekken 2 is jun essence inside of kazuya
Yo can you do THO Asuka, since she has so much wasted potential especially seen in her Tetsuman Comics where an alternate Tekken 6 story is told, although very anime-y, fanservice-y and weird at times, Asuka seems like a much better role for the protagonist role
Tetsuman comics also parallel with Tag 2's buddy system of who likes who, and has a nice role for Lars, whom falls in love with Zafina
one thing i have a question about regarding Angel's retcon. In Tekken 4, when Heihachi takes Kazuya to a chained up Jin, Devil takes over and says 'So this is where you were, my other half.'
Was it referring to litterally half of his power, or was he referring to Angel with Tekken 8 in mind now?
Half of his power
at the end of tekken 8 when kazuya is defeated a foot with sandals is appearing next to kazuya, and i didnt know what or who it could have been. but i think its angel. the sandals dont fit with anyone but angel usually wears some.
It looked like Angel form was achieved due to the Kazama's bloodline power of purification combining with the Devil Gene to make what I can only describe as the Anti-Venom of the Devils. As we saw every hit landed on Kazuya it started purifying him. It did it's job, it purified Kazuya and Jin of the Devil Gene. I think that's a good place to let Jin rest and live his life. He probably still has the Kazama's purification in him but I would propose Asuka as a the hero to go against Reina. She too has the Kazama ability of purification and she really hasn't come into her own.
Angel Jin is Jin new form I believe Jin has truly become the hope of the world because with his new form Angel Jin Jin now has the power to cleans the devil Jin power from any one who has it Jin no longer has the devil Jin power he has the power of a Angel another power that always was a part of Jin but one that he didn't know any thing about because Jin also possess his mother power to cleans people of the devil Jin power and hold it has on them am so happy with Jin growth and the path that he is on and I hope that they keep Jin this way because he has always been my favorite character in tekken but it always seemed like they never knew what to do with Jin if they wanted him to be a hero or if they wanted him to be bad but I believe Jin was never really bad it was just the family Jin was born into that Jin hated and he wanted to get rid of that side of himself and am so happy that Jin has finally done that and can finally have a happy life moving forward but is Jin fight with the devil Jin really over no it is with his father but now Jin has to take on his father sister who the devil Jin power has woke up in so Angel Jin work is far from over and there is no telling how many more children that Jin grandfather had in his younger days so Jin still has a fight on his hands but at least now Jin has a fighting chance with his new form and Angel power to cleans the devil Jin power from people who have it the child of destiny has become the child of hope and am so happy for Jin

Ergo- no "Devil Gene", no "Angel form". As the Devil Gene had been crucial in achieving the form in the first place, with it's needing to be "purified" via his Mother/ Kazama heritage. Jin still has Kazama blood flowing through his veins, but he nolonger has the Devil Gene necessary to attain said transformation following its purification.
@@HonestJohn_01.19Doesn't mean it can't become an angel gene sometime in the future we just don't know, there was a time when kazuya and jun were "dead" but that didn't happen and we also were led to believe that jin took out the devil gene before too.
@@TrueReverse74 Those decisions were made LONG before the developers had a concrete narrative for the series. We're talking nearly 30 years ago. They've retconned many things over the course of several titles to create, and solidify this current narrative/ storyline. They've put alot of focus on these last two titles- with particular regard to the narrative, and how they intend to push said narrative moving forward. As it stands, what you're suggesting simply isn't in the cards. The attention to detail as it pertains to Tekken 8 is unheard of in the series. All of the pieces have been carefully put into place for the next installment. And new lore pertaining to the Mishima's, and Kazama's have been painstakingly established. An Angel Gene would simply contradict this lore. Pay closer attention to the story, it's clear as day.
But, if you'd like to continue believing that it's possible- that's your right, champ'.
@@TrueReverse74 Also, at no point in the series had we been led to believe that the Devil Gene was eradicated. At the end of Tekken 6, it's shown that his attempt at doing just that had failed immediately following his defeat of Azazel.
@@HonestJohn_01.19 I'm aware that they've retconned many things over the course of 30 years, but that doesn't change the point I made. They also made it clear as day that some of these characters are supposed to be DEAD, but changed their mind, It's not impossible for jin to just be mistaken when the story hasn't concluded. It's happened before and it can happen again, they continously introduce things to bring back old ideas and concepts. You think Devil jin is just gonna be a disregarded moveset too? My guess is that you think they'll just give his moves to reina and jin will lose everything after this game huh? But you can also believe what you want bro.
It was obvious when you look at jins Devil form, he had fallen angel wings not devil wings plus with jun there was always white feathers around her. Honestly this was way better then I was expecting, the angel powers might be dormant for Jin now since he still has his mark but kazuya is cleansed for sure
For the record Angel is my favorite Tekken 2 and Tekken Tag 2 character

Story wise I always thought Angel disappeared after Tekken 2 because with the good in Kazuya gone after he absorbed his devil half into himself in 4 Angel ceased to exist too.

I think Jin and Xiaoyu's child is going to end up inheriting the "Angel gene" and use it to fight against Reina (never like that character, by the way), while Kazyua becomes the new Jinpachi. Let's hope we see another 19 year time skip for Tekken 9 lol!

it all traces back to TEKKEN 4 with Devil (controlling Kazuya) finding Jin in HONMARU. He states: "So this is where you've been....my other half--" moments before Kazuya fully takes control of Devil turning His left eye Red. Are we sure the devil gene is gone? or does it just exist as an angel gene now? I know Jin said that he and kazuya were normal humans, but number 1 that would mean devil jin is gone as a character in the base roster and number 2, every other time things have been "eradicated" they still come back regardless.

I'm wondering if Jin will still have his Kazama/power of purification, now that he lost his devil powers. Seems like a bit of a waste to go through all that build up, giving Jin true mastery of his devil powers for the first time, and unlocking a new form, just to lose it soon after. And now that Reina is the only one with the devil gene, who's going to stop her?
Tbh I think the next game would be more about kaz than Jin since tekken 8 is pretty much harada saying sorry to all Jin mains since tekken 3. And about who would stop rein, there’s lods of dudes I could see do it in tekken 9. Jin obviously, Kazuya (probably the one who will be responsible for beating reina in tekken 9), and Lars. I mean heihachi went toe-to-toe with devil kazuya before he absorbed azazel.
@@ginoabes3943 i see what you're saying, but Heihachi is just different. I don't see many people being able stop her except for Jin and Kaz like you said. I'm obviously a Jin main, so I still want to see him heavily involved in the story, but I'll wouldn't mind seeing Kaz taking centre stage again. I would actually like to see him and Jin fight side by side against Reina.

back in the days on tekken 5-6 i always use the character customize devil jin into angel jin just a "what if" type of situation that jin finally got to master his devil form and turned into angel. i guess all those costumes were hinted all along.

Angel never was part of kazuya's soul, even TK2 it never stated that fans just assumed that and ran with it. Harada did not recon her.
angel and devil in tekken 2 both represented an internal struggle inside kazuya's mind anything more then that is speculation

@@Ankhael9 harada was not in charge of tekken 2 nor did he come up with the story so what he says doesn't matter.....and I never said angel was a part of his soul....the story of the game is clear angel made him conflicted and that is what led to his loss as neither devil or angel could gain a victory over the other....

Unlikely, as Jins Angel form had been a direct result of the purification of his Devil gene. Of which, has since been eviscerated alongside Kazuya's during their battle just outside of Earth's atmosphere. In his words, they're merely human now, with the only character still possessing such power being Reina- unbeknownst to either of them.
Jun will likely help Kazuya to redeem himself between his defeat at the hands of Jin, and the next installment- and he and Jin will fight side by side as normal people (by Tekken standards) to combat what remains of Azazel's power.
Ergo, no "Devil Gene", no "Angel form", as the Devil Gene was necessary to achieve the form in the first place as it needed to be "purified" via his Mother/ Kazama heritage. Jin still has Kazama blood flowing through his veins, but he nolonger has the Devil Gene vital to his transformation after its having been purified.
I guess angel was in Jun but form the form with Jin. Would been awesome if Angel appear to Jin and form the Angel Jin. But i guess by the space and time seeing Jins mom, she gave him hope and thats how he unlocked from devil Jin to Angel Jin. Mmmmmm makes kind of sence.
