Another Tekken here and today we're gonna be talking about the origins of the devil!

I've been waiting to make this for quite awhile so I could go Into detail about the devil gene and where it seems to originate from!
Hopefully this helps also clear up some misconceptions about who else has the devil gene!

Its cool to think that Jin is a hybrid of Hachijo (a clan of demons), Mishima (a clan of fighters) and Kazama (a clan of presumably angelic beings)

It's a shame that my boy Jin was basically unconscious for the whole story mode of Tekken 7...that sucked!

You forgot to mention that in the Tekken 3 trailer when Jin was in the forest a spirit like thing went into his body and branded that devil Gene tattoo on his arm.

@@Iammusiq993 no it wasn't, it was devil kazuya's spirit, it literally manifested as him in that scene when he branded jin too. Plus orge is an alien and has no relations to the devil gene just like he said

@@tolgasupreme381 It doesn't matter anymore if a character is pretend dead or pretend alive. They are all videogame characters and can be in the game outside of the story mode, in a flashback or just as DLC characters

I really hope in Tekken 8 that they give us the real origin of the devil gene
TheBlackOtaku me too, Tekken 4 changed every thing with it becoming a gene instead of spiritual like in Tekken 1-2. Then the Kazumi thing furthers our curiosity more than before.
Well Tekken 8 will probably explain a lot of things and it will be the one game that will answer this question: Is Heaichi Mishima really dead?

Both Azazael and Jin are not blood related but they are related in a Devil Gene sense. And if Jin kills Kazuya it won't erase his Devil gene either because Kasumi died by Heihachi hands and both Kazuya and Jin still possess the gene.
Kazuya will probably die in 8 but i don't count on it due to the fact Jun's comeback make more sense to come in 8 and stop this feud with Asuka too, and plus many other evil potential threats can play a role in the next saga like the Hachigos, the remaining members of the branch that tried to kill both Heihachi and Kazuya, Claudio's organization, or The true originator of the Devil gene which is indeed most likely the Devil himself.
Azazel was the originator of the devil gene jin killed him so it wouldnt spread into others, but the gene is still in jin an kazuya... so he is bound to kill kazuya (and himself i suppose) to end the curse... but without killing azazel in the first place it would be useless because azazel would just had found another host for the gene, and the cicle would continue

If I was to ever do an adaptation of the Tekken series, I would have the Mishima story be a combination of the Devil Gene story and the “deal with the devil,” story.

since Akuma's Ansatsuken is an Assassination technique and the Hachijo are a clan of assassins, Akuma could have crossed paths with the family at some point down his path of trying to find the strongest warrior to face off against. Perhaps someone from the Hachijo tried to Asassinate Akuma and thats how he got ties with said family to make the future deal to then kill the Mashima family.
also kazuya sold his soul not just for revenge but also because he was on death's door in the old continuity so there was a real desperation there.
I wish they had kept the “spiritual supernatural aspect” that the first 3 games had.

You know they could just explain Jinpachi away as Heihachi experimenting on his father, ala Alexia Ashford trying to see if he could get the devil gene for him self or how it will bond with Mishima bloodline if spliced.

I would be happier if the devil gene was just some off shoot combined infection of soul calibur and soul edge that somehow became self aware and parasitic. It would be a nice tie in to why yoshimitsu carries the same cursed sword as well as its sealing junior. I really want that soul calibur tie-in to be a thing.

Anyone else think the Wolf Spirit that merged with Jun is uninhibited by time and when she smiles, that's when. the Wolf told Jun she soon was going to give birth to a son that would change the world!....
That opening in Jun's defense could allow him to go back in time to assimilate Jin based on a euphoric time strand that Jun (psychic detective,) sensed when she knew she was pregnant....
I don't make this stuff up.... Lol....
Anyways.... She taught him his fighting style he currently uses, and he fights against the Mishima style after seeing the price his male figures would pay for power instead of vindication....

I hope you do some history behind Marvel vs Capcom characters if you can find a way to make it work, since most of the plot lines of MvC depend on who you choose to play as (minus Infinite of course, since there is an actual story mode)

It'd be weird if claudio does have an anti devil gene and Jun kazama somehow has this and the angel skin we've seen Jin have in versus might be a hint at hime also having more than devil and mishima powers

I agree I think at some point soul edge was in Japan and created a malfested who could control their power and that over time they began to change and evolve along with it.
Either that or kazuyas mom is a desendant of taki and given she merged a piece of soul edge with one of her blades it wouldn't be all that surprising if being around it created some minor form of malfestation.
I believe Calibur and Tekken have already been confirmed to be in the same universe just centuries apart from each other.
In any case the games have so many references and similarities to each other, not only in story, but also in content that no matter if you like it or not, there is no denying that fans of both series think they are connected.
Multiverse theory or not, Tekken will always be Tekken and Calibur will always be Calibur. No amount of speculation or theory can mess with that, nor would it really change anything, other than to let fans know if there is any direct connection between SC and Tekken.
@Tcb bct I won't deny you that wish, I'd like to see it myself one day actually, but personally I find that such a game would make no sense.
Tekken and Calibur in terms of mechanics and gameplay are completely incompatible. It's like comparing fresh water to salt water, they're both water, but they're completely different.

For me , the story of Tekken ended with the death of kazuya in Tekken 2.

DegenerateSharingan agreed... The Jinpachi storyline was probably the most suitable to explain the origin, just a natural gene that is transmitted from father to son, but now... I don't know, they come up with the Hachijo thing and bleh, not the best of ideas

Raúl Molina honestly I feel that the jinpachi being possessed by a Demonic spirit and hachijo Family inheritors of the Devil Gene were ass-pulls.
They were, I feel exactly the same. I understand that Harada wanted to continue the storylines and, at the same time, return to the "family feud", so he had to create the las possible relative with impact in the plot, but I don't like how he re-writed everything
Raúl Molina duh Heihachi been revealed that his side don't posess that power in the conclusion of 3 and wanted to gain the immortality and infinite power by splicing his dna with Orge's. But he couldn't because he found out he need the devil gene to perfect this which he later discover that a rival organization Genocell had found Kazuya's remains and sent the Tekken force after his son's remains.
I think Heihachi already splice his dna with the devil gene because they never explained what he did with his wife's body.

I think at this point, Angel is retconned out of the story all together with the introduction of the Devil gene story.
The story became hella trash after Tekken 3.
Jadasan once they reached Tekken 6 I just never cared about the story.
jgar7 3 the war with jin was pointless, the mishima's could've been ended it all by Tekken 6 or better yet right after Tekken 5.

Tekken have always been somewhat strange with bears, kangaroos, dinosaurs, and whatever the hell Yoshimitsu is legally entering a martial arts tournament, but I went along with it. However, once they said a family company raised an army and started World War 3 on its own I was like this is stupid.
