Why you gotta bully us. Its 11pm and the next meal that we can visit these places is like in 12 hours time. But im hungry rn :(
gained a new follower here, this is the quality content i've been looking for! honestly was not expecting the char kway teow store at hougang to be featured! that place holds so many memories for me as I always visit the uncle after school :D
When you include mcspicy, I knew this channel and his recommendation is legit
I'm Singaporean and found this channel when I was looking out for steakhouses in SG, really enjoying all the content so far and it's so educational, especially with the culinary side of things! Hoping the channel grows more so the CZcams money can sponsor more food 🤣
Thanks for these recommendations!
Har.. I love chili crab 🦀 leh.. it’s my favourite.. the gravy is good and the must have mantous n I’m a Singaporean 🇸🇬❤️❤️
will definitely try out the wanton and zi char, the rest does live up to the hype to from recent memories, see you next monday alderic if a video does come. Looking forward to it!!!!
thanks for the vid. I am heading there in 2 days and litteraly spending 2 days so this is a great reference for me!
Thank you ! Have subscribed Liao 👏🏼👏🏼
I appreciate the good sound work. That alone puts it above many many many other channels.
Sharing my recommendations:
Singapore
1. Chicken rice (I'm a westie): Ah Tai, Jew Kit, Sin Kee (Michelin Bib Gourmand), Ah Boy
2. Nasi Lemak: Coconut Club, Mount Faber, Uptown
3. Tze Char: Hillman, Sum Kee, Holland Village XO Fish Head Bee Hoon
4. Bak Kut Teh: Founders, Ya Hua, Song Fa (Michelin Bib Gourmand)
5. Others: A Noodle Story, Zhen Zhen Porridge, Roast Paradise, Maxwell Hainanese Curry Rice (the rainbow signboard)
curious tho, would u ever consider u can get inexpensive nasi lemak which is good? like from a hawker centre or coffeeshop, eg Epok Epok Central in Eunos Market. Would be interested if you have a similar intro
@@user-jf6un5pk5t blk 20 toa payoh lor 7 kim keat palm $1 only very delicious
Thank youuuu my local friend ❤
Deserve my recognition! Thanks for the suggestion. Your video is truly the epitome of all delicacies.
Definitely have to save this video. For mcd, usually i would recommend buttermilk coz its only available here
Hi try KEK coffee pork ribs, salted egg steamed or fried crab.
Thanks!
Thanks for the super thanks!!
thanks a lot! I'm visiting Singapore and going to take my mom for some black pepper crabs tomorrow
All pretty good recommendations although I haven’t tried the wanton mee. On zi char though, I’d hand it to Kok Sen
I go to KEK frequently too but I have to say, tourist and on locals have started going there for quite a while already 😂
idk why but these sorta videos come up in my yt feed at 12am 😞
btw it'd be nice if you'd review more malay and/or indian food in SG! pretty curious about your take on such dishes
Great video as always. Has anybody tried KEK Tampines safra branch? Is it as good?
hellyea i agree the katong chicken rice is legendary brooo!!!
Chili crab with mantou still have to recommend la, I don't think mantou paired well with salted egg crab.
The crispy prata at Sin Ming worth to recommend also.
Carrot cake deserved a local recommendation.
Tutu kueh can recommend too.
I agreed this chicken rice definitely worth to chomp down !!!!
下个月就要去新加坡🇸🇬啦
I wonder why I didn't find your channel earlier!
Great video! You're one of the most underrated local CZcamsrs. To add on to this "Singaporean's recommendation", how about reviewing the usual food that tourist eat in Singapore? Find out if they are really worth the try haha.
thank you! that sounds really interesting actually. can make a trip down to Jumbo and Tian Tian heh
Now tian tian got copy cat nearby, but it's actually original chef from tian Tian,.so u must try both
I subscribed liao..
The McSpicy for me!!!:)) 😮wow didn’t know others like it like me too ~ fellow Singaporean 🇸🇬❤️
Haven't heard of these outlets. Chicken rice is kind of different, ground peanut toppings. Usually just a dressing of sauce. Like to try the greyland hokkien mee looks good.
Coffee pork ribs at KEK is the best!
this is a legit rundown of what to eat in SG for visitors! wish i had this guide for other global cuisines
I live near the oyster omelette place, like can go everyday kind and i like it as a fried egg lover. My dad who we usually give the oyster to don't like it though.
almost about to throw hands when you said us locals dont care for chilli crabs, butttttttt 100% agree that black pepper crabs are wayyyyyy better. still have yet to find a fantastic chilli crab though. definitely want to try that zichar store tho, looks good!
I recently found out a gd chili crab in omote thomson branch. And the best part is u dont hv to deal with any shells.
omg pls do a wonton mee series ! gonna be super interesting like how to review which is the best cos can be a lot of factors e.g. noodles, sauce, meat, soup, wonton, like do u focus a lot on meat or the noodles since it is called wonton mee.... , do u even consider chilli in the equation...
Google Koung Wonton mee, they just moved to geylang east centre. Old folks will tell you they helm as one of the legends in terms of Wonton mee in Geylang back in the 90s (maybe 80s too?)
Can u make another video best hawker stall that near to mrt? Thx Alderic
Agree with your recommendations 100%. Could easily expand to many more if include other local non-Chinese fav cuisines which tourists miss out on too.
Try the chicken rice without the achar, and the soup, and then reconsider whether you recommend it as a top choice for chicken rice.
Chicken rice standard dropped ALOT. especially with the overly inflated price. did u try their rice now? Its horrible.
Please do Wanton Mee Series
YESS your comment on chilli crabs was on point!
regarding the Katong chicken rice, they used serve the other type of achar (you know the one in the spicy sauce with peanut and sesame toppings). I don't like the current type of achar which just pickled vegetables...
i remember the chicken rice to be much better before they revamped the stall. i wasn't impressed by this stall the last time i had it around 2 years ago.
anyway, you're spot on about the double mcspicy burger. even Mike Chen said it's the best fried chicken burger in the world.
I agree with you.. since i think 2022... the standard have dropped drastically.. .. i used to go once a week.. but now.. i dont even bother... too crowded and quality is ... really down .. compared to ... 2-3 years ago... is .. not worth the trip or waiting time anymore..
seems like a lot of people are saying that the standard has dropped. I must have really lucked out.
@@Alderic. haha bro. They see you so handsome and famous. That’s why.. 😛
omg so happy to see the Katong chicken rice place
Sorry to say, you'll likely face a 30 percent increase in price for the same portion, except horrible quality rice. if you dont mind smaller cut of chicken but arguably same quality white chicken at a much cheaper price - Zeng Ji Hainanese boneless chicken Rice.
I will agree that Katong chicken rice was THE BEST. probably started to decline about 5 years ago or so.
If U ever do a wanton mee series, pls note there are a few types, the black sauce one, red sauce one, the no color only oil type one.. must state clear cos each type has a realm of their own. Cant wait.
and the char siew....not those dry cardboard kind with bright red dyes for me.
whats the price of the chicken rice? its the best but far
damn ur real for putting the mcspicy in there
I'm coming to Singapore next month (yippee!!!) can't wait to try all your recommendations. Can I ask - how do you actually get into Lai fa Ba authentic noodles? You said it was deep in an estate - where actually is the entrance? I can't make it out on street view or anything... Thanks so much for any help! X
on the street view, there's a building called "Prestige Building", number 71 iirc. just walk past the gantry and it should be on your far left, about 60 meters from the gantry.
@@Alderic. Amazing thank you!
Alderic and all spore food lovers will have their own personal favourite and recommendations when it comes to chicken rice, wontan noodles, fried oysters chilli crab etc. What we see from this video is his opinion. We may or may not agree. 😊
There are better chicken rice stores to recommend than katong chicken rice. To me the highlight for katong chicken rice will be their free soup, other than that their rice and chicken are below average.
Both chicken and rice used to be legendary. I would scream at you had u claim that in the 90s lol. but yea, at this present moment that place is a tourist trap. nothing more.
So which one you reckon? I’m going in a week and don’t wanna eat bad chicken rice 😂
I’ve tried the katong shopping centre chicken rice but personally it’s not something I’ll go often. It’s good. But I won’t say it’s the best.
same here...not worth the hassle to go all the way there, queue and wait.
Can Chinese (Taiwan not china) subtitles be added ? thanks~
waaaa d katong chick rice 1 person normal serving is $7.7 ?!
Far east plaza chicken rice used to be nice too…
Oyster omelette chilli must be good too
You miss the chilli crab and the claypot chicken at the last one u featured
8:06
May I know if the $14.30 price is just for the bowl of wantan mee or does it include that plate of char siew and roast meat you got as well?
at that price, if u want big portion, almost perfect authethic wonton mee, google Koung Wonton mee, they just moved to Geylang east centre.
nope that is separate!
@@Alderic. Got it. Thanks!
Lai Fa Ba is fucking good even though on the pricey side but life changing. You get to choose the fattiness you want. I choose the fattest option just how I like it
You should actually be sponsored - ordered a nice feast from KEK right away 😂
Bro you want aggressive moonlight horfun? Go back to katong and try the store right side of the chicken rice. If it's not aggressive enough I'll pay for your meal.
Good choices dude! But I concur that you should have included Indian/ Malay options esp since your aim is to highlight top dishes in Sg and Sg is uniquely multi- cultural. One might think we’re a Chinese country from your options 😅
yup! I only included places that I have ate at recently and I haven't got the chance to eat other cuisines unfortunately. I'm guessing next year's list would include a Nasi Lemak.
Love all ur recommendations. But how come for the wanton mee recommendation, you mentioned about the noodles, char siew n soup but you didn't say anything abt the wanton? It's like u review chicken rice but didn't say anything abt the chicken. This brings me to another point if wanton mee wanton not nice, is it considered good wanton mee?
Thank you! I said something like "it was okay " but edited it out since it doesn't really say anything.
U r wrong, alot of people love chilly crab😊, of cos pepper n salted egg crabs are incredible too . Anyway, I have enjoyed watching your video . Thanks
Truth man regarding the "Crab" too mafan ... rather have something cooked with those sauce, easier to enjoy and no need special equipment.
didnt expect the macspicy ROFL
I disagree on katong chicken rice. They use kampong chicken which is far better suited for indo/malay dishes. Texture too tough to fit hainan style
Last time i went Katong for Chicken Rice, it was pretty bad.
Never try katong chicken rice so no comment, but I will have to disagree with kampung chicken. Cai yuan kampung chicken is great for chicken rice too
@@baron17 its bad........ standard have dropped badly....
seems like quite a few people saying this but the chicken I got on that day was super well-cooked (fortunately). like at 2:05, it almost looks like fish haha.
fml. i just decided to diet today and this video popped up.
Pork liver is under rated as a lot of people don't like to eat organ meat. But if you find an establishment that offers one that is properly prepared, go back there and order it over and over again. 😀
seems like the good food is in the east side of singapore
By a Singaporean. Thats the most important thing. Enough with foreigners recommending Singapore Cuisine to others and even to Singaporeans. What a joke.
Appreciate ur work though it doesnt pay much according to u. I sincerely hope u find success. Please keep up the excellent work man.
where got WTM with egg liddat one
*side note, while waiting for ramen ya, they sold out. the WTM outside, not bad.
the egg is very cheffy but I had more than my fair share of such eggs over the last 3 months haha
Err the Kek seafood, getting a bit touristy, but Former Zion Rd zi char hawker SumKee at telok Blangah is better, their XO sum lor hor fun , fish soup ,Ultraman chicken , curry beef, fish head , pretty wok.hei type.
Is to go to Johor for good food.
I don’t know you but if you want your channel to grow, get a better mic
Good quality sound is a must
Which parts are you referring to and what device are you viewing the video on if you don't mind? I have a pretty good mic but it's the equalizing that needs work.
BEST SALTED EGG CHICKEN / NASI LEMAK / ROAST MEAT PLSS
Epok Epok central in eunos for one of the better yet cheaper nasi lemak. To claim coconut club is good yet not overprice is a bloody joke. U wanna pay more, Dickson Nasi Lemak.
A pity none of the dishes were below $5.😢
tff is the best chicken rice imo
Why never recommend your house Alderic?
Katong chicken rice best 👍🏻
Swee la
Laifabar is really so underrated ❤
Its nice, but nowhere considered authethic wonton mee. Old people will lauygh at you with onsen egg in wonton mee. But it is a good plate of noodles, regardless what u call that dish
@@user-jf6un5pk5t that’s true. Where do you go for your traditional one? :)
wash the prawn with soda water i guess?
You forgot to recommend Guzman and Gomez
Actually it is pretty easy to find bad chicken rice in Singapore
$14.50 for wanton mee ?!?!?! oh come on!
Counter suggestion
1) Chicken rice / porridge : Soh Kee Cooked Food
2) Oyster omelette : yup your suggestion is GOAT
3) HKM : You Fu (chinatown complex, not part of golden mile franchise, but is their dad though)
4) wanton mee : Yong Chun Wan Ton Noodle
5) zi char: I am clueless with this
Honestly i will add to the list for diversity
Janggut Laksa (Queensway)
618 SIM Carrot Cake
HOMETASTE HAKKA LEI CHA (tpy west)
Poona Punjabi Dhaba (can go into hidden GOAT)
Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang (yishun park)
Hidden GOAT
Teochew Seafood White Mee Hoon (toa payoh lor 8)
SHIOK SHIOK noodles (Teck Ghee)
Shu Heng Bi Tai Mak (amk)
8:04 bruh for $14.30 wanton mee, if they don't give me "actual" charsiew I would have raised havoc right there and then 😆
uncle sniping u from the back at 6:46
haha seems like he's taking a picture of the stall.
bro you exposed secret gem Laifaba.. =(
holy shit that wantan mee
Who else is egg omelette (aka oyster omelette) gather here 🖐️
The amount of oil this oh jian stall when cooked by the aunty can have the entire US army come and invade the neighbourhood for the black gold
Shit I just came back from sg last week😅
Never too late to visit again 😏
What is GOAT?
Greatest Of All Time.
Tried Swee guan, not really impressed. Pros: 4 prawns, nice charcoal burnt taste cons: too salty for my taste, $8 min price, comes with some egg shells too 😅, too little noodles
u make me double guess my original impression of laifaba... had them for delivery and was not impressed.
go have it there! their kopi peng and service are also great.
Alderic. There is one chicken rice that you won’t be able to try that I think it’s best. That is the chicken rice inside SIA Training Centre. It is the absolute bomb and sees long queues everyday from cabin crew trainees and cadet pilots….plus it is one of the few places that give legit delicious soups(eg. Winter melon soup etc) instead of the Usualy bland clear soup.
