    That was the Yankees respectfully firing Joe.
    I loved Joe n miss him. Great great manager. Saved the Yankees

      Yeah that was definitive firing. They knew he wasn’t going to accept that deal. They ‘allowed’ him to publicly walk away on his terms.

      From what I remember the incentives were if he won the WS in 08 he would’ve been given the 09 year too. There was no way that 08 was winning the WS. They didn’t even make the playoffs that year.

      @@The-CoffeeMan I always thought the Yankees would have done whatever to keep Torre for both the 2008 season and the 2009 season, since it was the final season of Yankee Stadium 2 (2008) and the first season of Yankee Stadium 3 (2009)
      I always felt that if the Yankees wanted to part ways with Torre, they should have done it after the 2005 season with Joe Girardi or Don Mattingly seen as the replacement. But Torre stayed after 2005 and Girardi went to the Marlins
      Yankees could have made the postseason in 2008 if 2008 AROD played like the 2007 AROD

      @@gregorymccann3223 they might have gone to playoffs under Torre but they 08 team wouldn’t have won the WS. And i wasn’t a huge fan of Girardi but i’d take him over Boone any day of the week.

    Classy manager. Wish there were more like him today. He had respect for himself.

    Classy guy. I wish somebody would play this for Boone and Cashman. It’s time for them to realize they’ve lost the players.

      Cashman should have been fired years ago. He's too obsessed with analytics that haven't won since they've adopted that attitude. He has done an effective job building a bullpen and a rotation, but year in and year out, the offense fails in October. Cashman hasn't had a good offense in over a decade.

    • @The-CoffeeMan
      @The-CoffeeMan Před rokem +1

      Its not only that they lost the players. The players they have are just not good enough to win.
      I don’t care that they won 99 games last year. That team was still trash and there was no way they were winning the WS. Evident by the fact they were embarrassed in the ALCS. The fact that that team won 99 games is an anomaly.

    • @easy56wedge
      @easy56wedge Před rokem

      @@The-CoffeeMan Their 99 wins was achieved in large part due to Judge staying healthy and hitting 61 dingers.

      @matsalvatore9074 Yeah, it's tough when you're dealing with legends and their way out. Bernie and Jorge wanted to play longer, but they were clearly done. I'm glad they retired as Yankees. I definitely miss both of them, and really took Posada for granted.

      @@matsalvatore9074 also, another awful Cashman move - how do you allow Andy to go to Houston under any circumstance? Tell me the Sox come back in '04 if Pettitte is on that team.
