    What a great video!! Sweeney telling Doc that he'll throw him over!! Priceless!!! Why is it that us short guys are always picking on the big guys? Hahahahaha Skinner, I fish Cape May (ocean) and in the back bays of Avalon. Haven't done well in Cape May this season, but in the back waters of Avalon I've definitely noticed the change you spoke of in regards to the "strikes" or lack there of. It feels like the bigger fish are just "leaning" on the bucktails instead of hitting them. I've also slowed up my presentation to a "three hop" jigging technique as opposed to the rapid jigging method. Congrats to Doc and Sweeney on those awesome fish. Way to go Doc with hitting the charts and finding a honey hole!

      It's a federal thing that applies to the east coast for sure, but I don't know about your side. I suspect it's the same. It's illegal to even target them for catch and release outside 3 miles. The one in this video was an accidental and very pleasant surprise.

      @JohnSkinnerFishing  Před 5 lety

      Just keep a bend in the rod and lead it into the net. Jig fish are usually lip hooked, whereas many bait-caught fish are hooked down deep. That's fine for keepers, but not so good for when the fish needs to be released.

      John Keriazes aka Doc Released into your bait well.😂 I’d have to say it would depend how often I’d catch ones that big. Here in Delaware,(where I tend to go) you almost never seem to catch keepers. I suppose I could go into the ocean. But, I’m in a 17ft boat. So, if I caught a 12lb flounder, I’d have to keep it. But, if it was relatively common I’d release them. Great fish Doc.
