What kind of punishment from your parents was most effective when you did something they didn't like?
Last year, I got a hard slap in the face from mom, had to stay in my parents' room, and got selfish comments like "YOU ARE AN IDIOT!".
It is still in my head and I'm crying.
I once got grabbed on the neck by my dad when I did something wrong. (Anything I do wrong is most of the time is an accident.) Thank my mom divorced him, I don’t want to get that punishment ever again.

I'm sure CPS could give a long list of things far worse than any of this. I heard one case where a stepfather put a kid in the hospital with thirteen broken bones and both he and the mother were arrested for it. The kid did recover and was taken in by the deceased father's sister.
CPS would still come for any of these things on this list.

I've been the subject of abuse by my birth parents. 10, 9, 8, a version of 7, 5 was brutal for me, my mom stripped me to my underwear and forced me to walk 1/2 mile in public to a payphone to call someone who cares, this also goes in with 4 except we didn't have internet back in that decade, 3 didn't exist back in that decade either. I've had way way worse than these happen to me.
I hope you're alright
I’m very sorry about what happened to you and i would like to have a little talk with ur birth parents featuring a 12-gauge shotgun
You should have called the police, they totally care

Not all the time :( but true also can I just say some kids are just rude brats because they are either rich and think they own the world or and just mean and irritable for fun of it and I know about this first hand because I was bullied by a rich kid all throughout primary heck even a teacher bullied/technically hated me :(
(I’m using my dads account)
Because most parents like my mother believe that because they gave birth to you, you must respect them and do whatever they want whenever they want
Not really. I used to be very naughty and the only way I got disciplined was my dad and mom hit me with a belt. When I think back the moments I used to get hit, I can only laugh and I don't hold any grudge.

My parents just communicated with me, had reasonable expectations and a healthy relationship. I have never been grounded and when I stayed out past my curfew my mom agreed that it was too early and just extended it. They trusted me and I rewarded their trust by being a good kid. Not that hard.
You have good parents. Its a lot harder for other peoples parents to understand these things, though. Its a lot harder than you think. Everything depends on your situation.
@@Flair258 I did, I had wonderful parents for the most part. But that in no way means I don't understand the difficulties because I experienced them as well albeit differently

I got into trouble alot as a kid for things like: not being able to remember my work asignments in school, missing small lines of grass while mowing the grass, and missing crumbs on the floor or counters when cleaning the kitchen all things that require one particular thing... the ability to see properly..... my father constantly criticized and punished me over and over as a child for something i could do nothing about.... i needed glasses and he outright refused to take me to get my eyes tested... he would also physically punish me for squinting my eyes in an attempt to focus them a tiny bit better....
it wasn't until i was about 13 years old that my math teacher in school called my parents and threatened to call CPS if they didn't take me to get my eyes checked.... i also got grounded for "smart mouthing" my step mother when, after the eye doctor told her i needed glasses, i told her "see? i told you i couldn't see things"
the worst part is that pretty much everyone in my family wears glasses except him, even though he's supposed to wear them when he's driving and he again outright refuses to do so
My father took my glasses away from one weekend. I visited him because the said glasses made my eyesight worse. I had a migraine for the whole weekend because you know I need my glasses.

The worst punishments is abuse disguised as “punishment”
I remember my Dad took me out for spicy chicken wings, and then took me out for ice cream (I later found out I’m lactose intolerant). Then, on the way home, he stopped at the bank for a deposit. When we were waiting in line inside the bank, I was extremely gassy and the line was barely moving. There was a large line of people there, and my Dad was so embarrassed of my smell, he loudly yelled at me to “stop farting” and made me stand in the corner of the bank, where everyone stared at me knowing exactly why I was there. The only crime I committed was being fed a poor diet by my parent, and it took me many years to figure out I didn’t do anything wrong.
“Punishments” like that were daily, and turned me into a shut in for many years with intense anxiety as all it did in the end was make me fear anything and everything that was outside of my control. And, worst of all, I felt like it was my fault for being this way.

Parents will punish you for hiding the truth or lying, then say if you're just honest with them, you won't be in trouble. Then, you're honest with them, and the punishment is the same.
That Was What I Explained To My Parents And They Didn't Get What Was Wrong And Still Tell Me And My Siblings To Be Honest And We Still Get In Trouble, Same Goes For When They Say Something Along The Lines Of *Explain How You Feel* Or *Explain What We Are Doing To Make You Feel That Way* But We Won't Because We Know How They Will React.

My stepdad flung the door open hitting me in the head and beat me to the point where I had a severe asthma attack due to the stress and anxiety and had to go to the hospital. The doctors and nurses saw the fresh bruises on me and immediately knew it was my stepdad and called the police. He was arrested at the hospital for domestic child abuse and spent 18 months in jail. One, they're hurting you against your will, second, they're making you more scared if them. No wonder I'm more scared of my mom than my dad. Yeah it was only my mom that spanked me and it wasn't even with a belt.

So I just rearranged my room where my desk was in the corner but I'd always be facing the doorway so I could click out of what I was doing or temporarily move onto something else whenever I saw her coming down the hall in my peripheral vision. I saw her taking my door and raised it with some feng shui. Having a helicopter parent was a nightmare.
to be fair to the parents that do this, this is an effective punishment, taking away your kid's privacy is something that they don't know they can lose, and it's pretty effective in my mind, but it's just that, a punishment. it isn't something to be done willy nilly like the mom of the person above.
in my opinion, privacy is an important thing to have growing up, since the absence of it can lead to some pretty deep emotional scarring, and even outbursts at an earlier age than the expected teenage years. and yes, some children will just go to other places to seek out their privacy. the correct answer to this problem is to encourage your child to freely share their thoughts and hobbies, not force them. make sure they understand that it's okay to keep secrets, even from you, but also let them know that you're ready to listen to them when they do want to tell you something.
also, don't punish your kid because "that's how my parents did it." the main goal of ANY parent is to help the kid grow up to be a better person than you were, not the same.
+Nevagang Vlogs Lavender infused tea is quite the labido killer if you ever want that to chill out.
Flammen91 I do that too with all tech
Flammen91 I didn't even have a door for my room, my bedroom was attached to the kitchen and my brothers room. My bed was the first thing you'd see when you look in the doorway.
My door is usually open, and when it’s not they walk quietly and then open my door lightening fast and before I can leave the app they ask about what I’m watching. Ha they’re not helicopter parents at all though
And then there's is me who wasn't never grounded or yell at.
Bc my mom always thought me that if I respect others they are gonna respect me, so she never yell and I never yell, she always thanks me (for something) I always thank her.

Every Parent:
I will take his phone and stuff away
Force him to do what they dont like
So they get happiness
Parents then:why are they still depressed?
Parent: you are gonna do stuff that you dont wanna do
Me: I Dont wanna play minecraft
Correction*:
Every parent:
"I will take everything that makes him happy away from him and force him to do what he doesn't like. Maybe then he'll be happy."

Sad but true , from punishments as a kid, I have severe depresssion
my parents most common punishment is to isolate me from my friends. it sounds like a normal punishment until you hear that my mental health is so bad and i have so many conditions that i get su*c*dal after 2 days without my friends. they did this to me for weeks at a time. i barely survived.
One day I took my clothes off the line, they weren't cold, wet or anything, as usual my parents don't think I can do anything right or that I'm stupid or something, they think I can't tell the difference between dry or wet when I'm dealing with my washed clothing, I put the clothes in my bedroom or drawer, my Grandma asked me harshly “why are those clothes in there, why do you have those? " I simply said because they're mine
Pushed me harshly into the bedroom door, I was fearful and angry
Why'd you do that,I asked? APPARENTLY, SAYING THE CLOTHES ARE MINE IS SOMEHOW *RUDE* ...
It was probably the tone of your voice when you answered your grandma. But still, that doesn't justify her violent behavior.
I would have smacked her in the face, or took her stick that she uses to walk and traped her in the bathroom
ik how you feel they do the same to me
Izuki 101 wait a second ur grandma is strong enough to push u? Wow...
Ahmad Kashmar uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh "traped"

The second one reminded me of the song callef "Soap."
i watched this chanlle for ten hours striaght and it didnt even get boring at all
The worst punishment I’ve ever dealt with is hearing about skill share
Ha!
Aye, big l
XD so true
lol
whosAxe I never used skillshare but I already hate it because of its large amounts of sponsers
I'm automatically grounded forever because I have no friends to hangout with
Lonleyyyy
we dont ground people in my country
IMTIAQ sad for u
Why bro? You don't have any friends in your school
I'll be your friend
My biggest punishment was being condemed forever and never loved again to the point where when I grew up I had to find a new family due to emotional abuse.
Some of the best parenting advice I've ever heard: never discipline your child when you are angry. A calm, rational parent is unlikely to carry out too drastic a punishment
Son:Mom can i be rapunzel?
Mom:sure!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA YOU'RE SO FUNNNY HAHAHAHhaahHha
Wow that’s so relatable!
What I had experienced:
-My clothes were thrown out of the house, seen by the neighbors while being nagged at
-Had to kneel on either salt or monggo seeds with arms spread out wide and heavy books on both hands; needed to balance them and if one arm went low, I got hit with the metal part of the belt
-Stuff was thrown at me, for example, a remote control, a lotion, a slipper, or a shoe
-Hair being pulled, slapped
My brother experienced:
-Chili was swabbed on his outer lip when he cursed or said bad things
-He had bruises on his back after being hit several times with a food measure
Other kids in my country:
-Chased in the streets or in the neighborhood with a wooden utensil, only to be hit when caught
-Hair pulled until they reach home
These are just some of the punishments given to kids in my country, it has been a lot lessened now than before for sure and some others aren't practiced anymore. My younger brother never experienced any of these punishments because my brother and I would educate and teach him calmly and diplomatically wherein he would learn but not be abused and traumatized.
I once had my entire room stripped out and my door removed because I had a long distance relationship. Needless to say I now keep everything to myself. It’s not a disability, it’s being wise.

Me, a parkour master: Sayonara
I have been grounded, long term grounded, had my mouth washed out with soap, I never had any privacy, I have been punched in the face, hit acrossed the back of the head, been talked about in verbally abusively behind my back and to my face, or infront of me, had my things taken from me and binned and soaked so I wouldn’t take them out of the bin, I have been emotionally abused for years and the list goes on
If a kid gets bad grades they shouldn’t be punished for it unless they’re messing about
To prove that the kid is or isn’t messing about talk to the teacher to see what they say.
