I feel like everyone forgets that this one came out before Smallants.
Yeah. It's really sad because while I love smallant I feel like gamechamp doesn't get nearly enough credit because of him. Only a few channels I've seen have reacted to gamechamps but so many have reacted to smallants and the small number of channels that reacted to both reacted to smallants one first and gave him more credit

For those curious, the X Speeds weren't just so he could go first, it's because in Gen 1, the OHKO moves fail automatically if the target is faster than you.

Even though this game was the building blocks to something we all enjoy now, I don't think anyone will argue that the gen 1 games are broken and glitch
The line about Lorelei’s dewgong countering Nidorino by falling asleep was so funny I actually laughed out loud. I get why he didn’t evolve it tho. It gains the ground type as a Nidoking which would make the opponent use moves other than psychic type stat boosting moves and the run would be over.

I like to think the player has a giant water bottle with them, and every time we use water gun on non water Pokemon, we just give the bottle to the Pokemon to drink. "General Squeaks, use water gun!" *Raticate drinks water and spits it back out*

“The devs were asleep at the wheel while programming most of this game honestly” This is true. Gen 1 is riddled with glitches/weird things.EX:Hyper Beam doesn’t have to recharge IF you get a KO OR if you damage/break a substitute.
no, actually, it wasn't. i guarantee you 99% of people never saw a bug in casual play.
were y'all just not around when gen6 came out and there was an entire city you couldn't save in because it would corrupt your data? or in gen3 when calendar-based events would just stop after a certain amount of time? or blue rescue team wiping data from any GBA game in the DS's second slot that wasn't red rescue team?

it stops and most things wont work after 999:59hrs into the game, and you have to install a berry patch from emerald or fr;lg. Dosent work in Colosseum or XD.

@thorgidogofthunder that is false as its literally impossible to play this game without encountering a bug, and even if you don't count that one, there are 3nouyh bugs that 99% isn't even close to the right number
7:17 Swift was actually one of the ONLY moves not to be affected by the 1/256 glitch. Just an interesting factoid.
What are the other moves not affected by 1/256 aside from Swift?
@@cleverman383 Unfortunately, they are thinking too modern. Swift was the first and only move of its kind in Gen 1.

As long as it isn't 100% accurate it isn't noticable since it could always be a regular miss.

12:54 that's totally an gen 1 thing because I remember being a kid and putting my Infernape who had some hms in the day care lol
The whole 'skip a plot-required wild pokemon' bit also happens in Gen 2, as you can do the same with the Red Gyarados at the Lake of Rage. (Though in HG/SS they just let you run from it)
To answer your question on Swift, it bypasses the accuracy calculation entirely so it truly does hit 100% of the time.
And yes, Gen1's code barely holds together.

Dewgong makes sense, Nidorino isn't a ground type so she won't use aurora beam, instead she spams her psychic type move: rest.
But Pidgeot makes no sense, or does it?

The gen 1 miss is only possible when there's an accuracy check. That means you can't gen 1 miss after an x accuracy or while using moves like swift to bypass the accuracy check

VGMyths got shot in the head by Mr. 1/256 Glitch, but survived because Gen 1 A.I. was super super nice to him to heal up every single one of his woonds

just in case people dont know how lucky that goldeen fight was, essentially it was a 1/3 chance for it to use peck, if it landed on the 2/3 chance to not use peck it was then a 50/50 to use either tail whip or supersonic, and if it chose supersonic it has a 11/20 chance to land supersonic and then you have to win the 50/50 of not hitting yourself in confusion the rng gods were indeed on his side for that fight

If you have a coin you have 50% chance of it coming up tails with each try. With two tries you have 25% of no tails occuring because your options are: {heads, heads}, {heads, tails}, {tails, heads}, {tails, tails}. In exactly 1 out of 4 possible realities you will avoid getting tails. With 3 tries you have 12,5% chance of not a single tails result. By the try 6 your chances of it not happening are 1,5%.
The chances of 255 occuring at any given time are 0,39% but in a series of 6 rolls alone it jumps up to 2,32% at least once. And it's rising with each consecutive encounter. By the 30th battle it's 11,07% and I'm pretty sure he had to rely on moves other than swift more than 30 times.

I was totally calling BS on the "AI doesn't use status moves if they already have status" until they elaborated that the AI chooses a move AFTER your turn if you use an item. Cheaters :P

i mean it depends on what you count as moving, any movements at all? what about talking, or moving your fingers, is that moving? if not, then it's just doing it in 1 sitting, which is easy

The game won't let you put a pokemon with an HM in the Daycare in case you need it to reach another area that can only be reached via Surf or Fly, so that you're not constantly having to overwrite better moves on your pokemon just so you can progress without marching back to the Daycare.
Those kind of grinding streams I think usualy is made the kind where it focuses more on the conversation the streamer has with the audiance than what is actualy happening

now we can try catching all 151 pokemon without damage. no glitches allowed, except the trainer-fly glitch, that you can only use to catch unevolved, such as bellsprout in red, or trade-evolution pokemon, such as gengar, at level 7, that are not otherwise available in the current version. you have to catch all pokemon at full health, and take no damage. it's possible to do it.
For the first few minutes, I thought he react to video at the bottom, until my eyes decided to look up a bit.
I don't think Pokemon with an HM move can be released from the box in Gen1 either. It was supposed to be a way to keep you from getting stranded somewhere like Cinnabar Island (or blacking out and getting dumped there because it was the last Pokemon center you visited). HM mons are either always on you or always in the PC.
I beat my Pokèmon Green Emulator Nuzlockè a few minutes ago with my Blastoise, Raticate, Pidgeot, Vileplume, Rapidash and Gengar. I'm also planning on doing a Damageless Run.

The 1/256 glitch affects swift still I believe like it affects masterballs cause swift is given a 100% accuracy stat then it ignored stat decreases instead of ignoring acuracy checks all together
Swift actually bypasses the accuracy check entirely in all generations so while it still had a listed accuracy it is both unaffected by the 1/256 glitch and by stat changes.
The 1/256 glitch only affects masterballs because they didn't have a bypass for catching in gen 1.

To be fair to the devs of this game, Gen 1 pokemon was basically the equivalent of running Doom on a TI 84. Technically possible but it's basically black magic. All the weird dumb glitches in this game were just all the edge cases the devs physically couldn't fix because the game literally couldn't handle any more.
