FYI, as the username might imply: I was the person who posted the Ascension link to UnFiction, back in 2013. The website I run about ARGs has an open tipline, and at the time I would post most of the tips that came in on the UnFiction forums, particularly if there wasn't enough information for a full article at the time. Sadly, that's likely another dead-end: I looked up the initial email and while there was an email address attached to the tip, the submission form I use allows for fake emails, and I'm fairly confident I was provided with a fake email in this case.

This is legit Matpat solving a real life mystery at this point. This isn't even an ARG this is literally him figuring out what exactly happened to this ARG.

he got it completely wrong though, lol. Phenix did not make the pastebin posts. She made Kanye Quest as a year 12 project and the ARG just went unnoticed for two years
The ARG having no end makes sense. Ascensionism is a cult tells its members that there is always another ascension and that it's their duty to ascend, but there won't be an end to this ascension, because it's just a tool used to manipulate them. The same way with this ARG's endgame, we will always look for it but we would never find it because chances are it never existed in the first place.
The game itself is a pretty good allegory for cults. It's stupid, and looks fun, yet deep down it's just a ploy to try and manipulate you, but at the end of the day it's just a game and you shouldn't take it seriously.
Actually if you think about it, every day someone finds something new or breaks the limit of the human nature. A lot of people in the past even couldn't imagine something like our success at the moment. Every single person is trying to do their best at the things that they like to do and after them in the future, other will use their knowledge and upgrade their work. We are doing it constantly, we are evolving not only physically, but even psychologically and we don't stop. Yes, it's impossible to reach the end, but it's the only way to survive in the universe. We don't know so much things about everything, it's literally scary to think about it and the main purpose of the human is to understand itself and everything that is in the universe or even more, who knows? Even if it's impossible, at least we are trying. You know what they say, it's not about the destination, it's about the journey.
New theory: MatPat has ascended and is trying to throw us off our tracks. Deleting the original video would cause major conspiracy, so this alternative is a way to make people go like “Huh I guess it’s nothing” and not question it any further

Honestly, to finally hear the book end of Kanye Quest is just like a letting go of a held breath. 6 years I've been waiting DESPERATE for someone to figure it out. And to find out a literal comfort channel of mine has done it, well, you can't blame me for being so relieved.

also people have talked to nick lyons a lot throughout the years and they have very different answers for everything than was given here. before he would always completely deny any involvement in kanye quest at all, and if the answer was simply that it was a fan of their music I'm sure they would have explained that back then.
@@SilphetX For your second point, it's possible that the creator might've gotten tired and just had to let go of the YEARS of work off their back. Stories told by people can change overtime, and now it finally came to a halt and information finally got driven out wholeheartedly. Especially when in the beginning, it wasn't gaining as much traction. Unlikely, but also possible.

Until we talk to HIM and get a solid answer about all this I hardly think anything at all is really cleared up. I guess this ARG went way too unnoticed cause of the overwhelming memes put onto it, and when the creator noticed that- he himself tried to revive the said ARG by posting things about the game's hidden files.

They target actors first and foremost, with recruiting agents that swarm popular filming locations in California and Florida. The instant you get off the bus, they'll be fighting over your attention. It's intentional designed to look like a hokey religion from the outside, but it's actually one of the most organized cults in the world

I don't know about anyone else but I'd really love to see game theory take a look at "Loop hero". The game is amazingly fun and has a treasure trove of lore in it I bet he'd have a field day with. Also helps it has probably the most awesome 'how a lich was made' story I've ever seen in it.

I love all the unique intros. I remember when they used to only be applied to games that were frequently revisited like FNAF, but now basically every double+ theory and some popular single theories get them too! Really creative and very fun :)

You HAVE to make a theory if possible on I Expect You To Die and I Expect You To Die 2 because I feel that it has some great lore behind the game in Easter eggs and recordings/people talking to you.
