- Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is a 2013 action-adventure game, and the sixth main installment in the Assassin's Creed series. A sequel to 2012's Assassin's Creed III, the game will see the player take on the role of an Abstergo Entertainment research analyst as they explore the story of Edward Kenway -- father to Haytham Kenway, grandfather to Ratonhnhaké:ton and an ancestor of Desmond Miles.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will be set primarily on and around the islands in the Caribbean Sea during the Golden Age of Piracy in the early 18th century, with the three major cities consisting of Havana, Nassau and Kingston.

This game could have been more dynamic and better if they made the enemy NPCs able of taking the opportunities to attack/stab him while unguarded and preoccupied. They should've add squad formations, ganging up and simultaneous attack. Regardless that would not make the game unplayable but would require more skills and strategy. *Sigh* so frustating to just imagine such game would exist someday. Games developed by people who are familiar with real combat mechanics. I wouldn't mind the flashy moves, you can make video game characters with unlimited physical attributions like stamina, cardio etc. Things that limit us to do incridible stuff in real life.
Play Assassin's creed 1.. they Npc's do attack you
Well in real life you don't exactly want 4 guys swinging a sword at one point because you risk injuring your fellow men. Also I'll get 2 or 3 guys that will attack before I've finished parting with a guy

I think the combat would be more fun if Ubisoft would fix the whole "one guy at the time" fighting system.
The combat in AC3-AC4 was a tricky thing to change because there were a lot of flashy things in it that sacrificed the difficulty with more fancy finishers or slow attack animations. Guess Ubisoft didn't want to temper with that piece by piece and decided to scrap it all together and redesign it entirely again for Unity .. which also get scrapped and redesigned in Syndicate for a more faster system with combo score and such. If anything, I'd say that the problem was in the whole chain-kill feature that was introduced in Brotherhood. It was tweaked by each new AC up to the point where in AC3 it became pretty much a gimmick. Majority of your fights became a chore with *wait for attack* --> *press counter button* --> *press attack button to perform an execution* --> *spam attack to chain-kill everyone around you* and if an enemy was about to interrupt you, you just repeated the whole process. It certainly looked cool and was kinda fun with making you feel like a slaughter machine, but it felt kinda useless to use other weapons if with most of them, you could do the same thing. Hidden blades were quite a disappointment for me. If you remember, in AC1.. Hidden blade was not suitable for combat at all. But you could still use it. It had the lowest requirement time for counter so it was pretty risky to use, you couldn't block attacks with it, nor attack. Just used for quick and efficient counters. In AC2, the blades were on the side with the more faster attack (stats) weapons. In AC3-AC4 (Rogue if you want co count it in) made Hidden blades look like some typical dual daggers with slow attack animations which retained the easy use of counter & executions with chain kills.
In short... AC4's combat was simplified, filled with a lot of flashy but long finishing animations and was quite boring. But it still looked cool, no doubt about that.

Assassins Creed Unity did it the best I think they could. They balanced it with parrying and shoulder rushes, I think. Double blocks would be epic as heck.
Here's an opinion of mine: fighting enemies in AC3 and AC4 is too easy. All you gotta do is wait for an enemy (or two enemies) to attack, and then just do a counter kill (counter button, then attack button). And with enemies who have a defensive weapon, you could just break their defense and then repeatedly tap the attack button. It isn't any different in AC3, however a few type of resilient enemies require different methods. At least AC1 and AC2 are actually a bit challenging at times..

Just Some Guy Without A Beard yea that’s definitely true I’m just a huge fan of stealth actually & it’s just that stealth is literally impossible with the new games since most likely your stealth attack will only damage higher levels leading to combat. It’s still fun though but I loved how we could do anything we want back in the day 👍
@@superjasim996 idk that's only true for odyssey, in origins you can one hit kill anyone in stealth, Valhalla you can turn on one hit assassination in settings

Some of the environmental assassinations are beautiful and I don’t think I ever saw them during my play through, but that was literally forever ago so maybe I did, who knows

AC 3 and Black flag's combat system makes you want to get detected rather than be in stealth mode most of the time.

Sorry for 2 years man,okay I'll explain,this skill is easy to perform on console but hard on PC I THINK,first you need to kill an enemy in conflict,either you spam attack button or counter kill them,after that,you will be in chain kill phase,press a movement key(PC) or joystick(console) along with quick tool button ,which you need to equip a pistol first,press these button at the same time,and that's it,you will get to enjoy a badass kill.hope this will help you😉

One time I let my younger brothers(aged 6 at the time) play this game, just climbing about and commanding the ship etc. but they wanted to fight. I had upgraded to the point of having as many guns as you could have (4 or 5?) and I told one of them to press X as fast as they could and the face he made as he shot down guard after guard was priceless. He loved that lol
