I love how different the Kenway family is with each generation. Pirate, Loyalist, and Freedom Fighter. I guess Connor would have had a lot more in common with his grandpa.
When I realized there's one naval mission in which Connor talks about Edward I was so happy :') He knew who Edward was.
Haytham isn't a Loyalist. He just helps whichever side that could benefit the Templars.
@Connor Marlow It's in the Tyranny of King Washington's DLC
Ac3 is in front of Edward's timeline Edward Kenway is not dead cuz in the game he is not dead dont matter not in game then
Nick G Edward died when Haytham was a kid

Haythams"hat" fall off while Connors hat is glued on his head...
One of my favorite scenes in AC3, if not of all the limited scope of AC games I've played.
"I can kill you now, if you prefer." What a dad.
EzioIlMentore at least in the end he got a dad to say something ;-;
Achillies:he maybe your father
But not ur dady
Well, Haytham did not even know he had a son until Connor was caught and about to be hanged.
oy gevalt my merchant brother !
No more child support
"You did not have to kill that man" :
after killing everything throughout the entire game
yes
Connor spares given the opportunity, some opponents need to die, some refuse to surrender.
If you unarm guards and they have no allies and you point a gun at them they give up and you are not required to kill them unless the mission states.
every game is like that, just the player who control every protagonise to be killing machine
Connor doesn't kill unarmed men. Well, the Connor I play as doesn't.
I still wonder what happend if he haytham had the apple and open the gate. What would happend than? I mean like juno could see a vission... so it means there is a alternate universe where they won???
Haytham is the only Templar that really made me question the Assassins as a whole. Masterful writing and great voice acting.
What about Shay?
@@miguelcondadoolivar5149 Perhaps Shay being in league with Haytham continued that questioning, as a whole
Play the first and listen to all the confessions clearly.
I loved how AC3 let you see how similar the Templars and Assassins actually are, the reveal that Haytham was a templar shook me
Though if you look correctly the Assassins are not better then the templers. But enter Altair. He founded the creed which embodies his arc. His willingness to sacrifice himself only to secure a artifacts shows how motivated he was in protecting the creed. Altair even betrayed the brotherhood. People Like Altair and Ezio are the pious ones in the brotherhood who were not only against the Templers but also motivated to help others and hold the creed strong.
Haytham: "he is my son"
Connor: whaaaaa
Connor makes me laugh waaaay too much

Lol love them father son interactions. "What about you?" "Never you mind .Just do as I ask ."
Sounds like every parent to child interaction.
I can say with great confidence that does actually sound like my old man
“Why?”
“Because I said so that’s why!”
He really is acting like a father with talking like that. Almost seems a shame we had to kill him
@SuperGamewarrior101 He had no right to talk to Connor like that. He wasn't there for Connor at any point before this. He did not raise Connor, and when the chips were down, he still chose his allegiance to the Templars over his relationship with Connor. The only reason they were working together is because their interests aligned and Connor was a naive and angry teenager who, deep down, wanted to feel the warmth of love again.
@@DarkEdgePrince Yes I know.
That look Haytham gives Connor he's like, "My boy has a ship?!"

He is Edward's grandson
Is that a reference for Jennifer?

@Rick O'Shay I still love them. I wear it all the time.
@Rick O'Shay it's a shame Altair's outfit is so hard to unlock
I love how Haytham after finding out Ziio died realized what Conner has been through. He really loved her and if circumstances were different I have a feeling he would have stayed with her to raise Conner.
Idk if he 100% loved her but he did have an affection for her and by the American Revolution he was an empty man who did regret not spending time with his lover and son because he could've found happiness
It's implied that Haytham did stayed with Ziio in the King Washington DLC.

Maybe in a sense Haytham would offer freedom, justice, independence by eradicating Washington's boys. Think about it, without the congress slavery would be lessened from little to none. If Johnson purchased the lands, the natives would be safe.
I think he meant "absolute freedom" on the latter part.

Bindair Dundat Hytham: Is like brilliant Conor just brilliant lol
In the end Haytham, in his own way. Was proud of his son.
yeah he even said it after he died
"Meet me on the piers when you're ready"
Wow I never expected to be able to play as an NPC quest giver.
Their Dynamic reminded me of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, Conor is young and naive and fights for "good" and for freedom. Haytham believes humanity can thrive when ruled with an iron fist and is so dedicated to his cause that he borders delusional. He's also way too willing to kill his son at any moment without remorse, but once they spend time together they begin to understand one another I think. Haytham was spitting straight truth at Connor for a while then when Connor mentioned that Charles killed his mother Haytham had zero answers. This game was awesome
NinjaInPajamas I think that broke him to know that the Templars took everything from him including his lover and son from him. :(
He becomes disillusioned to the point of insanity and realizes too late what it cost him.
@@RyrienaHoustonBorn Right. Like just for a moment he snapped out of his official templar character and felt an unexpected emotion
TheMegaUzumaki I played this game years ago. I dont remember Haytham already knowing Connor’s mother died. You can still tell Haytham is a semi decent guy who forces himself to do bad things because he feels it’s his duty to make a better world, even though the Templar’s world view is ridiculous
Haytham was never willing to kill Connor and he never will, he even said he will sacrifice himself if it means Connor will live and he does in the end. Read the Forsaken book and you’ll see Haytham would sacrifice himself without hesitation for his son
@RomeoPapaCharlie I think your onto something
The clothes of Haytham Kenway and Shay Cormac meet again.
fuck Shay Cormac .....bloody Traitor😠😠😠
It's funny you can wear Edward's outfit, because that was his grandfather
ASURA 47 Too be fair the Assassins from the Colonial Brotherhood that Shay was once a part of betrayed him first. Shay was more in the right. Those particular Assassins were corrupt.
@@shaypatrick7497 sad!! that u don't know about the story....
@@shaypatrick7497 In fact Shay uphold The Assassins Code that have been followed by Altair and Ezio, more. Than The Collonial Assassins ever uphold
Haytham was a real man in my opinion. He learned a lot from his time with Shay, shown by his order to stop the search for the Precursor sites. He also cared a lot about Conner's mother, dare I say he loved her dearly but he has his responsibilities to the Order. He's one of my favorite characters for he has shown true character.
Thats why I think connor gets pissed when haythem confronts Washington saying its not the first time he's burned villages before. Because from Connors perspective if his dad knew about the village burnings the entire time then he's just a guilty of Washington for the death of his mother because he never came back to check up on them afterwards. It cast doubt on him not knowing his mother was dead to begin with.
@@splendadaddy2933He can't check on them because he's not even in America at that time. Right after he went back to America, he's informed about Ziio's death. Also, while he didn't directly check on them, he did try to protect the Natives from the british and patriots by owning their land, but of course that didn't work out too well.
Except, Haytham's mission _was_ to find a precursor site. *_The_* precursor site. What do you mean he wasn't? The entire arc of us playing as him is literally to get the key to open the precursor site.
Still a bit confused as to why the guys at the gate didn't automatically recognize the GRANDMASTER of the colonial templar order
Glitchxed Fix ; that's what I've always wondered
They're probably just hired help, common guards or just average soldiers. They're not supposed to know more than what is needed, they just take orders and nothing more.
It was a TRAP!!!!
It is sensible for only a few key people in the organization know who the grandmaster is as to avoid revealing his identity beside they probably dont have the priviledge to ever meet him
@Azfar Atiq i was about to say the same thing
1:41 you can clearly see Haytham how he just took breath before saying "perhaps some time would make us good" it just really is remarkable acting of "I can't believe I must have a truce with Assassin's but it's my son I don't wanna kill him" he really doesn't like Assassin's but it's his son and he loves him.

I kinda like the Connor-Haytham moments the most personally. Like throughout the experience you know they’re going to fight but you really want them to just make up and be a father and son.
You really should play Assassin's Creed 4. Edward Kenway is amazing!
Traitorous Son
There is something incredible powerful with Connor's moral. Even when everyone says he is in the wrong side, or when others give him good reason not be an assassin, or his allies betray him, or when people say to him to give up, he always stands up and keep fighting for what he always believed.

Haytham clearly has that entitled father outlook, expecting to be treated with respect by his son, as much as I hate it after he hasn't seen Connor or raised him, I almost love how he still sees him as a son, the moment they met, which made him dying and Connor's regrets after reading his journal far more depressing.

Haytham could easily kill them. He had learnt what he needed, and he just had enough of Connor (like everyone else lol), and by using his IQ 2000000 he figured out the best way to handle him is to force him to attack the mercenaries, and while Connor would have been fighting, he would escape. It's a mastermind never doubt.
I love how you can read into “I don’t feign affection” into meaning he doesn’t care about Connor, but you can also read it as what little affection he actually did show Connor was genuine.
7:57 I wonder how the story would be if this dialogue wasn’t cut so short by Connor’s brash attitude. Id like to think that more could of been worked out between the two. Peace between both factions wasn’t a stretch but I believe Haytham’s ruthless , two sided attitude caused Connor to not talk about his mother more. There was more to this - it’s sad Ubisoft went for the “kill off Haytham approach “
I'll never forget the twist at the start of this game. Haytham was a Templar, and you played the first hours as him, the game didnt even start untill you started to play as Connor, great prologue. It blew my mind still to this day. It also made us all question the Templars and Assasins.

What’s sad is Haytham is speaking the truth about Connor’s Mom. He really is shocked and confused when he hears it, and tries his best to tell the truth but Connor rejects it. Imagine if Connor saw that he was telling the truth. Maybe their relationship would’ve been better
Kind of feels conflicting later on when haytham does learn about Washington and the village, like instead of showing proper anger or losing control at Washington he just acts smug and waves the letter in connors face as if he was right. Maybe there was another plan for it but time management caused an issue and what we got is what we got.
You gotta think though, haytham feelings for Connor was sweet lol. And the fact he actually love his mother was even more sweet 💯
Which is why the forsaken book was really good. It shows how Haytham is really good person who has lost a lot.
