Ï agree. The interior in Volvo XC60 definitely looks and feels nicer than the Audi Q5 (having one myself). And also, the Audi Q5 is a bit more fun to drive but Volvo wins in comfort (the Q5 can actually be a bit awful in that aspect over bumpy roads).
We had one for 7 years(2014 version), the best quality SUV you can get. After 340 000 kilometers it still ran like a new car. And it's extremly comfortable to be in, lota of place and great noice filtering. At 180km/h you can close your eyes and it feels like it's standing
My father had the 2014 as well and recently got the successor model. Soon I can find out if they did better this time. The old one was comfy, like you said, but the very noisy Diesel and insanely badly programmed automatic made me long for my 08 manual Golf after 5 minutes. Though, if it has to be an SUV and you are mostly travelling at constant speeds, good car. It reminds me of the french car philosophy a bit where engineering gets sacrificed so there is budget for an amazing interior.

Big improvement in a few core aspects. - they sold themselves to google, so you get easy to use well working navigation onboard - they got an actual transmission this time that has decent shift logic - the mild hybrid system alleviates a lot of the issues of a pure Diesel. Consumption is alright for a car of that size but nothing about an XC60 is economical to be fair. If you want a family car: get a wagon (obviously) if you want an SUV, look at some alternatives. 95% of the capability for 70% of the price is definitely doable. (Mazda, Hyundai) if you want basically a Mercedes GLC but not a Mercedes, then the XC60 is a great pick.

I have just bought one in similar specs. Some things to note: you can get a protective coating for interior and exterior which prevents stains on the blonde interior (expensive though). The wing mirrors fold automatically on engine shut off. Rear seats are foldable from the boot by buttons. They are constantly making minor improvements to this car (much like other car makers). Always good to check in person.
Brilliant review! Genuinely this is one of those "only car you need in life" cars. Also, this is the second best looking SUV in this class imo, after the Macan.
The slower throttle response in comfort-mode makes sense. He said it himself when he put it in dynamic-mode that it takes off quicker BUT it doesn't feel as relaxed... Exactly. Punching acceleration and relaxation doesn't quite go hand in hand.
I was at the Detroit Auto Show here in America a few weeks ago and hadn't been in any of the new Volvos recently, got into the XC90 and OMG the smell was glorious, it smelled like expensive wood and leather, no other vehicle I have been in smells like that, that alone sells the car. It wasn't really on my list before but it definitely is now.

7:30 no matt.... you just click switch and it connects.. dont give it crap because you dont know what ur doing and the cargo cover, everything can seem hard if you act like it.. you literally just take it out and put it back if you dont want it, you dont need to bang it around and dance
owned xc60 for 18 months now, what was interesting initally the front end seemed light (4cylinder etc) - but i realised its simply what i was used to - weighty front ends. In reality after driving for a year in a big car its superbly balanced/handles/grips. Better up hills too with lighter front end. No air suspension in mine, much better for driving !

Volvos are highly underrated, but would love to have the 3-way folding rear seats on these X-overs like in the German offerings (ie VW Group, BMW and Mercedes-Benz) and I find that the pass-through portal rather small though compared to the VW Golf.
XC60 just a well made beautiful car . The Shapes of the car are smooth and beautiful . Interiors just simple and clean make me feel calm and trusteble .
This is looks great on video but trust me, it looks 2 times better in person.....It has a presence that rivals an Audi or maybe better....and those THOR HAMMER headlights makes it very recognizable at night....I personally think it looks sexier than a Q5 and an F - Pace....classiest looking car in it's class TO ME....very very classy.

That problem with the Bluetooth not engaging/disengaging seems pretty common. My Mercedes does that from time to time. Also, don't undervalue the comfort of Volvo's seats. They are the absolute best in the business, IMO, and when you consider that the seat is (obviously) where you spend all the time while in the car, seat comfort might be more important than, say, handling precision, especially when you consider that so much modern "driving" entails sitting in traffic.

In Malaysia you only get the T8 and T5. Here hybrid cars are have tax incentives. so a T8 is normally cheaper than a T5. For instance, the S90 T5 is $102,524 while the T8 is $94835 plus it is fully specced whereas the T5 is half specced. So we can always enjoy the hybrid benefits and the massive power.
I had this on test for a week as a potential replacement for a G30 5 Series. The sat nav is dreadful, and playing music is harder than it should be for a car with a list price north of £40k. The XC60 is getting the new Google infotainment system in 2021, which hopefully means full screen Apple Car Play. It's a lovely car to drive; great driving position; nice power in the D5; effortless steering. You feel more of the road on 19inch rims and passive suspension, but it's not sporty. The interior quality is below the standard I'm used to with the 5, but I can't compare it to other SUVs.
last October I brought this car and its lovely man specially with comfort and the new safety feature that no other car has offered yet. the new XC60 is the car which I consider when compare to other German models.
I've driven them all, Cadillac, Chevy, Ford, Honda, Benz, BMW, Saab, Renault, Peugeot, Toyota, VW, Audi, Kia, Volvo... you name it.. private or rented. They are all inferior compared to Volvo. It is not my fault...Volvo is simply a better car.

I have a 2019 Volvo XC60 T5 AWD, with 5500 kms and 9 months, bought in Belgium. 5 weeks ago, a fuel injector broke while driving. No warning. The car stopped in the middle of the road and 2 cars almost hit my car with my family onboard. Since I bought it I have been suffering several problems on transmission, start and stop system and air suspension, software problems and very high fuel consumption. Volvo has exchanged the gearshift, start and stop system, batteries and air compressor. However, problems continue. And the car is still under repair after 5 weeks. Really disappointed with the car and really bad support from Volvo Belgium and Volvo Global. Look for other car, Volvo is faulty, unreliable and unsafe for your family.
I am sorry to hear that, it must be frustrating....but I think it's your case on a thousands. My family always had Volvo cars and they are the most reliable, safest and very well built cars I ever experienced. We also had BMW cars as second car and also a Ford (which is a very underrated brand). I am not a car expert but by what my personal experience is, Volvo is excellent. The model in the past were not stylish maybe but the safety, durability of the car was top...the last models we still have are a V70 T5 station wagon and a 2014 XC90 diesel AWD and I swear, in all these years they have never ever let us down, even for very tiny problems. If something happened was out fault..you know, like putting oil or checking things but they really never had any mechanical problems. The XC90 is a beast, it's so comfortable and easy to drive and makes you feel the safest. You do really enjoy long travels by car (with 70€ I drove 800km straight, I swear). The T5 has a great engine... it consumes a lot but it's a car we usually drive not for long travels. My dad passed few months ago due to cancer and he was proud of the XC90 even if it was not the best design compared to other more modern SUVs but inside it was full optional, leather seats and felt like sitting on a sofa. Pity one day (with the Euro diesel restrictions) we will have to give it away - I was recently thinking and went to see if buying the new XC60 or the new XC90. To me it's one of the best car brand ever. Never ever disappointed me or let me down. Sorry for your experience....also the dealer I have a long relationship with is very professional and helpful..good people and they advice me well. In your case I would have the dealer and the central customer service of the HQ to take care of everything...there should be a policy that if so many things happen they should give you another car like the one you bought. New cars nowadays are very expensive, especially these kind of cars/SUV. Good luck for the next, take care🌷

Matt, you keep repeating that the Q5 has better quality “feel”. Audi is however, according to statistics, among the brands most affected by breakdowns - while Volvo is among the most reliable. So ACTUAL quality seems much better in the Volvo.

Volvo has exchanged the gearshift, start and stop system, batteries and air compressor. However, problems continue. And the car is still under repair after 5 weeks. Really disappointed with the car and really bad support from Volvo Belgium and Volvo Global. Look for other car, Volvo is faulty, unreliable and unsafe for your family.
I am sorry to hear that, it must be frustrating....but I think it's your case on a thousands. My family always had Volvo cars and they are the most reliable, safest and very well built cars I ever experienced. We also had BMW cars as second car and also a Ford (which is a very underrated brand). I am not a car expert but by what my personal experience is, Volvo is excellent. The model in the past were not stylish maybe but the safety, durability of the car was top...the last models we still have are a V70 T5 station wagon and a 2014 XC90 diesel AWD and I swear, in all these years they have never ever let us down, even for very tiny problems. If something happened was out fault..you know, like putting oil or checking things but they really never had any mechanical problems. The XC90 is a beast, it's so comfortable and easy to drive and makes you feel the safest. You do really enjoy long travels by car (with 70€ I drove 800km straight, I swear). The T5 has a great engine... it consumes a lot but it's a car we usually drive not for long travels. My dad passed few months ago due to cancer and he was proud of the XC90 even if it was not the best design compared to other more modern SUVs but inside it was full optional, leather seats and felt like sitting on a sofa. Pity one day (with the Euro diesel restrictions) we will have to give it away - I was recently thinking and went to see if buying the new XC60 or the new XC90. To me it's one of the best car brand ever. Never ever disappointed me or let me down. Sorry for your experience....also the dealer I have a long relationship with is very professional and helpful..good people and they advice me well. In your case I would have the dealer and the central customer service of the HQ to take care of everything...there should be a policy that if so many things happen they should give you another car like the one you bought. New cars nowadays are very expensive, especially these kind of cars/SUV. Good luck for the next, take care🌷

The Volvo XC60 Hybrid has had a lot of electronical problems so I would only buy a petrol one, but they are very scarce.

Matt, you keep repeating that the Q5 has better quality “feel”. Audi is however, according to statistics, among the brands most affected by breakdowns - while Volvo is among the most reliable.
So ACTUAL quality seems much better in the Volvo.
