  • Welcome to our review of the FlexTail Tiny Pump 2x! In this video, we'll be taking a closer look at this compact air pump specifically designed for inflating camping air mattresses and pads. We've had the opportunity to test out the FlexTail Tiny Pump 2x on a variety of different air mattresses and pads, including the Nemo Tensor and REI Stratus, and have been really impressed with its performance on each of them. It's incredibly easy to use, with a simple one-button operation and a compact design that fits comfortably in the palm of your hand. Overall, we recommend the FlexTail Tiny Pump 2x for anyone in need of a reliable and efficient way to inflate their camping air mattresses and pads.

    👍 That seems like a winner for my smallest, lightweight, compact motorcycle touring kit quest. Good review. On to the tent! 🏃‍♂️

    Hey, love the video! I very much agree on the battery indicator feedback. That would be a pretty major improvement for me.
    But I saw you mentioned using it to blow on a fire. I've been designing and 3D printing adapters for the flextail to various UL pads lately and also designed an adapter to a "pocket bellows". The pocket bellows is like a hollow telescoping tube that you can blow into to get air right into the fire at the right spot. It makes a big difference. And the adapter lets you hook it up to your flextail. This kind of serves a dual purpose of letting you put the air deeper into the fire at exactly the right spot and also protecting you pump from the heat.
    And the sleeping pad adapters are really convenient because they allow you to pump the pads up hands-free instead of needing to hold the pump on (like you had to with the nemo. Sea to summit and big agnes have the same issue.).
    If you'd like to do a review, I'd be happy to send out a sample to you! The shop is called "Ultralight Innovation" on etsy if you want to check it out. And if you have pads I don't have adapters for, I can design a new adapter with a set of measurements.

    Great review. You answered the main question I had which was how many times will it inflate a mat on 1 charge. Thanks!

    Hey, great review. I just purchased the NEMO tensor and I heard you mention the connection wasn’t the greatest. But I see that you were still able to inflate the NEMO a few times, and relatively quickly. I’m wanting to purchase one but wasn’t 100% sure it would work without modifications to the flex tail. After watching your video I see modifications aren’t necessary.

    ...or does it blow?

    Do you think has it enough power to build some pressure to pump up selfinflating mat? Those mats are 2cm thick, which means they need some manual pumping in addition to their 'self inflation' in order to keep some air below ones back. Especially when side sleeping.

    • @ExploreTrekAdventure
      @ExploreTrekAdventure  Před 7 měsíci

      The pump doesn’t have a huge amount of pressure but I would think it should work. If not there are other pumps that have a higher PSI but that usually means they are bigger and heavier.

    Does it work to deflate a storage bag? For travelling in a plane

    My question is, is it about the same if not just as good at compression or decompression as the mp2 pro flextail with the light? Thinking about getting one.

      @ExploreTrekAdventure  Před rokem +1

      We haven't tried the MP2 Pro, but the Tiny Pump 2X works really well. If you give the MP2 a try, let us know how it works for you.

    does this pump work on the exped megamat?

    • @ExploreTrekAdventure

      The larger cone does fit well into the exped inflate port. I am actually a little surprised at this, they usually don't work for the kinds of ports that exped has with the valve on the bottom. You can't use the stock adapters for the deflate port though.
      But if you want to use your flextail to suck the air out and compress the foam, I sell a set of adapters for the flextail to the exped on etsy! My shop is called "Ultralight Innovation". The exped adapters are newly designed this week (got a request for them). But I was really pleasantly surprised with how well the defalte one worked. It makes it way easier to pack upt eh pad after I use it if it sucks all the air out first.
      I hadn't bothered to make exped adapters before because most of my UL pads (nemo tensor and the like) don't really need a deflate adapter, only the inflate. And I never really bothered to manually inflate my megamat 10 duo since the self inflating always worked fairly well (if you're storing it long-term, store it uncompressed and the self inflate works way better).
