    If the Premier League doesn't inflict serious punishment that will genuinely hurt them on and off the pitch, then what a joke of an organisation it will have become - FFP rules that are easily avoided by big clubs while smaller clubs are hung up to dry. Hope they do the right thing this time

      @@peterlee3687 Yep, FFP is a racket. But also notice the media campaign against City in recent days with a torrent of articles claiming unrest, trying to foment division at the club, raging at Haaland being a City player, etc. It's a coordinated full spectrum attack on the club involving the FA, the media (both domestic and foreign) and the elite clubs (both domestic and foreign). I don't even support City but I see this for what it is.

  • @TheJWRB
    @TheJWRB Před rokem +346

    If it was a smaller club, even ONE of these breaches would result in a 15 point deduction. If they have broken 100, they should be relegated to league 1. But they have money so they will get a fine. As a forest fan I hate backing up derby, but they breached financial guidelines and we’re essentially forcefully relegated and almost liquidated, is it fair to them if city gets away with this?

    • @DiscordantVice
      @DiscordantVice Před rokem +34

      100% agree. You just know City will get away with it. Football is corrupt so I’ll be amazed if city don’t ’bribe’ their way out of this.
      Too much money changing hands.
      If they do get severely punished, and I think relegation at a minimum, then fair play to the FA etc.
      It brings into doubt all of their recent success.
      But as I say, they’ll probably get off and most likely a big fine. As you say, won’t affect them.
      Newcastle’s owners may be rethinking their approach to financing them but that’s prob a good thing, they will have to fund them properly.

    I don't really think that Manchester City should have their titles taken away from them and I will explain my reason why.
    About 11 years ago Rangers were in a similar position and the talk at that time was to strip the club of their trophies but it was never really a strong possibility.
    An example was the 2008 Scottish Cup final where Rangers beat Queen of the South 3-2. But the Queen of the South team captain made the point that he didn't want a Scottish Cup winner's medal where he gained it simply through default because it takes away from the spirit of the game. Not only that but the guys who went out onto the pitch for Rangers at Hampden that day gave their all just as much as the Queens players.
    Don't get me wrong, if Manchester City are found to be guilty there are plenty of other measures that can be used as a punishment.
    Personally I think the punishment should take the form of several parts.
    Firstly I would have them relegated to League Two of the EFL.
    Secondly, I would place a 3 or 4 year transfer embargo (ban) on the club with the only real exception being for them to sign free agents, players on loan from other clubs and youth academy players.
    Lastly I would slap a heavy (eight figure sum) fine on the club owners (£10 million or more).

      Smart guy but maybe not that big of a relegation because barely anyone at the club now was there at the time of when they are investigating, why are they punishing the players and people in the club now? The owners should be punished not them, Man City (pep) isn’t even in the top 10 of most money spent since 2018 so why punish him?

      People seem to be under the illusion that this is some kind of open market where clubs are individual businesses and not entirely a cooperative. Manchester City are 1 vote of dozens and dozens and could very easily just been flat out removed from the British football pyramid. It doesn’t matter if they’re worth trillions it doesn’t matter if they are worth quintillions. What matters is they actually have opposition to play. Because not a single player in the world is signing for a club that doesn’t play football.

    The ramifications of this are endless, and could go on for years, questions have to be asked about how player transfers were funded, how managers were paid, if it was dirty money, then other clubs will seek compensation, and possibly a review of any trophies city won. Imagine if a retrospective 25pts were deducted for each season, that brings into question the ECL results and winners, the effect could be mind boggling!

      Well said we could be waiting years before a result - I see Man City tying them up in legal issues

      They should break it down punish them on each season rather than all in one go.

      @@robertmclellan3658 It's cheating, in its purest form, plain and simple cheating. They have a history of doing it, UEFA took them to task over it, and they only got away with it on a technicality. It's not about being bitter or fair, it's about fair play.

      @@robertmclellan3658 we all knew they were cheating for years. Even you must have had some doubts with the amount of money they've spent.

    Players and managers should face lengthy bans and massive fines.

    Enough talk about what they did. We get it! What we all want to know is, will there be any actual repercussions? Are they taking away points, expelling them from the Premier League, banning them from competitions, etc?

    115 charges. It's been investigate for 4 years, dont see why the outcome will take ages. Punish according to severity then let them appeal. They'll be punished even if they are innocent cause there admin is subpar

      Why punish now though most of the people in the club are gone since then except the owners

    The coverage of Man City vs Juventus on these investigations is really interesting. The Super League will come, UEFA and FIFA are unable to handle football on their own.
