- It's all about power to weight, so in this episode, everything goes IN THE BIN in preperation for our final battle between the Peugeot 206 and the Suzuki Swift Sport.
In this new series, we get an expensive parts, and a home made parts, and see what's better. Along the way, one car will modified with loads of cash, and the other one will be modified with parts found from dumpster diving, recyclers, second hand parts or the cheapest parts we can find.

I once heard something said by a very very old drag racer... he said that there were two ways of going fast at the first drag strips. And it was money and power, versus light weight drag cars... and he said years later we found out which one was better. Almost all of the cheaper light weight guys died. And The ones that were left around in their old age were the guys who spent the money and kept the weight.
Having to go all out and be on the razor edge for longer periods of time, or more often increases risk.
The MCM Fat Mat looks amazing. However, with the shipping fee and all the additional fees/taxes here will make that too expensive for a desk mat.
When the Series is wrapped up, perhaps do a full track build on the Peugeot, swap engine and transmission for something better, full cage, brakes, and suspension.
Where's the front brace on the Pug? Marty missed a trick there as it makes a huge difference. That rear one....naaaaah XD
You should have had Marty go through the trash bin at AGI while they were busy with the swift
Find a whole nother Peugeot in the bin.
With the 3D printing, I'm betting there's all just small little pieces and not worth his time.
@@5Ci0N 3d printing?
@@5Ci0N 3d scanning not printing. They basically get super accurate dimensions to make up their cages to perfection. Probably find some off cuts but unlikely anything usable.
Marty should have made a PVC roll cage and painted it black for extra 15 HP!!!
Throwback to the first civic build. 😂
😂😂😂😂😂
black iron pipe if weight doesn't matter
With carbon fiber wrap around it
Toilet paper tube. Way lighter.
I absolutely love that Moog was tearing everything apart, riiiight up until he took the speakers out, and suddenly he's very gentle. lol.
A front strut bar un the Peugeot 206 makes a huge improvement, you wont regret doin It!
Same for most hatchbacks. My mk4 GTi was so bendy you could see the front end flexing in fast wavey corners. Couldn't go over speed bumps with a lower brace though
Just a thought, but after the first race, y'all should switch cars and do another run. That would prove for sure whether it's the car or driver that's faster.
Except Moog's obvious bias against the Peugeot would result in a loss just so he can do a bit more sh*t talking about it 🤷🏼♂️
Or getting one of the professionals they know to drive both
that 100kg weightloss will do wonders. Moog will be trashed. He should have asked the tuner why they had a Peugeot standing there and had never done a Swift.
@@harrybruijs2614 my thought exactly
@@russellcopp6968 Not really, if he drives slower than him it would rather say hes the worse driver
2:02 Who also was surprised Moog wrote vertically
That is Normal for us Left handed people. 😂
90° vert!
Very surprised here. 😮
Left handed peeps represent!
I think that's common for lefties.
im right handed and do it like that. lol
Moog mate, im no peugeot fan, but you might want to read up on the heritage there. Those guys have got several le-mans wins under their belt, including cars which won over 50% of their race entries. They also have a long history in rallies, with the 206 WRC chopping fools in evos and wrxs.
And let’s not forget the legendary Pike’s Peak climb by Ari Vatanen in the 80s. Easily found on the YT.
I'm pretty sure he knows that's why he's pushing the joke :)
@@AJC508 "Climb Dance", one of my favourite short films of all time!
Sarcasm go over your head
@@alaindelon5398 wtf drug are you on mate?
11:48 Peugeot has a huge pedigree in racing, winning Le Mans 3 times, making the best group b car (205 t16) and winning the world championship twice, then winning the dakar twice with it. Winning pikes peak with the 405 t16 (remember the scene with ari vatanen covering his eyes from the sun with his hands while drifting). Making the best wrc car (206 wrc) and much more
And been doing motorsport since 1896, where Suzuki've been racing since maybe 1996. Only a century though, right? lol
Gotta disagree with you on the best Group B car, that title goes to the Lancia Delta S4.
@@stephenhaines2929 well if you just compare the victories, yes the Lancia is the best, but put a delta against a 205t16 and the best of the two is unquestionably the 205.
@@stephenhaines2929 the best as in the most succesful
More light = more fun 👌🏼
less weight = more fast
I think Marty might be right, its going to be closer than they think. 🤔 can't wait for a good thrashing of 2 nuggets 😃
I just hope he doesn't lose too much acceleration with his tyre diameter, will make a big difference I reckon. Go team poo bro!
True. But that will be made up in cornering grip and breaking. Which were terrible in the first race.
Swift lost around 10pk peugbro 4pk, so pk wise they are around the same now... The peugbro was 50kg lighter, lost 100kg and swift added 30-50kg. So same power levels but one car is 200kg lighter.. at cars that only weigh 1100-1200kg thats a 15% difference. Cant imagine swift winning on same tire set ups.
Your channel gave me the information and more importantly the confidence to work on and mod my own cars. I've been watching you guys since 2010. It's been an honor watching you get to where you are now. And the icing on the cake was being exposed to Moog's music, which I love and listen to regularly. Thank you guys for all that you do. Mad respect. Mad love. Please never stop.
I feel like we’re missing out on the cash value of the cash option in this episode. Hopefully it’s included in the build-up to the finale!
I know it's intentionally taking the piss but Peugeot has a fantastic Motorsport history, including 3 constructors titles and 2 drivers titles with the 206 WRC
Yeah, but it has nothing to do with the road car.
@@driftjunk I didn't say it was mate. They made a joke (which I'm pretty sure was meant in irony) about Peugeot's lack of race pedigree Vs the swift. The joke and irony being that the 206 and Peugeot in general have racing pedigree.
You could say the same of almost all racing cars Vs their road going Varian's with maybe the exception of btcc racing (I'm UK based but miles out of touch with touring cars but they used to be based quite heavily on the road going car)
Rally cars are traditionally road cars that have been modified for the sport. It's only now with the Rally 1 cars that they have moved to specially built spaceframes.
@@robertkirkham1772 Yes but my point is most cars like this are only the same in appearance the pedigree has nothing to do with the road car. The 206 WRC car had nothing in common with the road car. Unlike the the homologation WRC cars.
@@driftjunk the 1.6 engine in Marty’s car is an incredibly successful engine in the lower classes of rallying
Thank you Mighty Car Mods for bringing us a high / low car that's actually entertaining to watch!
No doubt!
really cool, suprised moog hasnt opted for a light weight battery as that can be like 12kg right there extra but they are pricey.
Lightweight batteries aren’t always that expensive. I got one for £100 - they can get very expensive if you get a deadweight industries battery which are near 1k
Battery sponsor.
As always, Marty's willing to actually commit to a race car and Moog wants to ride the fence
Moog needs a history lesson on some of Peugeot's accomplishments in motorsport 😋
I'm not big fan of peugeot but it has huge motorsport history unlike suzuki cars
My thought exactly... One word.. Grönholm!
@@KlikTrack Juha Kankkunen peugeot 205 t16, Ari Vatanen peugeot 405 pikes peak, Stephane Peterhansel 2008dkr, etc...

Power to weight is crucial on track, literally improves everything. Can't wait for the final battle!
i loved the way moog was writing that the seats are 22kgs, he wrote it upwards as a lefty. i write downwards as a lefty, japanese style. hehe
marty cut the headliner with a blade, moog slammed the glove box with his foot, could've sold them for parts, could generate some extra budget money for martys' side.
This series is such a good indication of their personalities. One guy gets the fancy stuff like a lotus, golf R etc where the other gets the used older gear like a wrx, lancer etc.
Without triangulation, Marty's rear 'stiffening' will have 0 effect.
Even with triangulation there would be negligible benefit, there are no significant suspension loads through the points he has braced. Fitting the braced rear axle from the GTi or station wagon would have been more worthwhile.
the 206 have independent rear suspension with shocks mounted in the rear axle. The axle is a unit with almost no flex (that makes these cars very balanced). Puting bracing in the front strut towers makes difference, but in the rear its just wheight hahahahha
@@RafaGmod He would have been better off using that box section to make struts to hold the roof up if it rolls over and as an attachment point for a race harness. Those spindly pillars are not going to hold the weight of the car off Marty's head if Something Bad(tm) happens.
I get so excited to see you guys upload, constantly coming back to refresh your page to see if there’s a new video
Love this series! You could do another 10 episodes on modifying these cars before the race and I'd still be here. The different approaches, the nuggetry... Love it!
Thanks fellas 😉✌️
150 kg
That 3D scan and install is impressive.
Hooray for SOLIDWORKS!
I think you should make a season two with turbos, carbon / self made fiberglass hoods and trunk lids ...
This is the episode I’ve been waiting for
Love this series. Great to see both sides of the engineering.
i really am liking this show, cash vs trash. it really shows 2 extreme views on moding your car, cheep vs expensive. It captures the show quite well, great job guys, and your team.
The Pug is gonna munch that Swift😂
Love this series wish the episodes were long!
Absolutly loving the series!
Absolutely brilliant series!! I hope you guys do more $$ vs🗑in the future!
It's literally 4am just woke up feeling terrible but this just made me feel a tiny bit better. Thanks guys for always being here.
Love the content as always, but one question: you've weighed how much was removed from the Peugeot, but what was the amount of weight added by the AGI half-cage, please?
i love the cash versus trash series idea. i think it would be a great regular addition to the show
loving this series!!
Enjoying the process of this it will be hilarious if trash wins
I might have missed it but it would have been good to see your initial reaction to how the car feels with a quick run round the estate
Strip put music is class 👌🏼👌🏼 the glove box disrespection was beautiful
That was a rockin' tune when the Peugbro was being disassembled!
All that interior stuff from the Pug must already be pretty light. Only 94kg for pretty much the entire interior except the dash, with a big chunk of it being the seat. That's a lot of work for not much weight saving. Geez.
its a small 2 door hatch that had very little luxury so that tracks.
For what weight saving gained I certainly wouldn't track a car without door cards unless U fancy cutting yourself getting in & out or arm lacerations in an accident just not worth it 🤔🤔
@@youtubeuseronalot6376 Agreed. No door cards is just asking for trouble. I wonder if it would even pass inspection at a track day with no door cards. I doubt it. That's just not safe.
@@woopimagpie I tracked an Impreza a few years ago went down the "extreme diet route" just stupid yeah agree with it to a point but not comfortable sitting beside a cheese grater no thanks ......strip all the sound proofing off the floor gut the rear by all means 🙄.....I ended up putting the front door cards back on & even cut the carpet in 1/2 under the front seats & re fitted it for what little weight it added stick 1/2 a gallon less fuel In during your track time if U that worried or drill a load of holes in the back side of the rear hatch or bonnet frame 🤔🤔
@@woopimagpie my 205 stage car has the inside of the doors cut out it not a problem and perfectly safe.
I bought an AGI cage from new years ago. It was perfect. Fortunately didn't have to test it out

What a great idea or a series !
150 kg, however I thougt you would also remove the radio, A/C (If it has) and soud deadening etc...
Stripping the inside is free and SO satisfying 😁

I expected it would loose 200 kg but I guess not
200 lbs
Edit: I don't know if my guess is right cuz america
Pretty close, it's about 205
Well done lads. I really liked the section on the roll cage design and installation. Is it possible to see more detail about how the double diagonal rear section fits into the main hoop please? Thanks.
This is one of the best channels on CZcams
Perfect timing just started my lunch break
Moog writing vertically is a skill i never knew i needed.
Having never driven either cars, I think I can safely say that these two cars are going to drive on a track. Look forward to it!
Throwback to the driveway! I ready for the saw to come out and the roof to go.
Great addition to your channel.
Such a great series, cash vs trash is genius
Finally new episode 🎉🎉🎉
I love the part where you put the lime in the coconut and mixed it all up…massive effect!!
There is a reason why they use the ZC32S as a Ring Rental Car at the Nurburgring Nordschleife.
Awesome cars. All they do with the Ring Rentals is chuck on some uprated brake discs and pads, upgrade the brake fluid and chuck on some KW coilover suspension
Best series ever
Absolutely loving this series! I wonder if Moog is aware of Peugeot's long racing history at the Le mans 24hour, or that they've won it three times 😃 though I would never actually own one! 😂
I remember you guys where building Gramps y'all have came a looooong way!
Marty hit him with the “cool story bro”. Daaaaammmnn 🥶🥶🥶👌😂
Cash vs Trash has been the best. The right combination
This video gives me ptsd, after just spending 3 years restoring a tracked, Version R FTO. Amazing how much weight you can strip from the interior, but god damn it was a mission finding those parts again. Keep it up fellas!
You can get shorter accessory belts in Europe to get rid of the AC, I think in Australia it was part of the base model
Power to weight, springs/dampers, driver skill, and tire grip are the biggest factors here
He's taken all the weight from the mid-rear of the car.
That will effect the weight distribution. And it will likely handle worse.
@@tomjenson9053 it’s less than 200lbs. Prob won’t make a huge difference

This series has been great, i really wouldn't mind seeing more of these if it was cost effective and they could start doing bigger and better cars.
the best 4x4 channel on YT has to do a cash v trash version of course

Well swift absolutely deserve as a high car ❤ ...because this chassis is one of the last JDM legendary hatch back of all time ...can't wait to see on track !!
Moog shouting dribble about no heritage just to spark fury in Peugbro's heads haha classic Moog.. Marty.. accept the challenge
Love the cage , should have done a X brace in the Peugeot.
You should do a clip on balancing the weight distribution by adjusting suspension.
After watching these episodes and seeing how poorly prepped Marty's car is, I'm starting to question whether they would even understand what you're talking about. Either they're playing dumb or they need to go to the track and hang around in the pits with some low budget racers and pick up some more clues about low cost track preparation.
I've watched for years and never noticed that we have another correct handed person as a celebrity.
Itll be interesting in the finale if you guys swapped cars to drive, not only to compare times, but also to see which car you guys actually prefer in terms of handling dynamics. Completely rooting for the Swift btw because theyre such good cars.
I’ve waited for Marty’s car to go in the bin and it’s finally here.. we’ll at least some of it 😂😂
Bro.
When you said Peugeot I was trying to remember the model, thinking 206. When you asked to guess I thought 206 kilos. Then I converted the answer to Lbs, and it was 206!!!!!!
Close enough!!!!!
Just about to go to bed and see this...well bed can wait lol
Yes, you can get around 100kg of stuff from most vehicles but some things like sound deadening/carpets are lightweight and make an improvement to racing enjoyment.
I would love to see a build based on what we call in the states as the infinity g20. I haven't had one since 2003. I fill like this was a missed opportunity for the car culture! Prove me wrong! You guys are the best 👌
