Man I'm loving super rugby Aotearoa. I think NZ are pulling off a genius move with the tournament restructuring. This is the most excited I've been about non international in years.

Match winner all day long. Back at 10, and firing on all cylinders. Beauden 'on song' is , for me', the best of the best. T'is what keeps the incumbent 10's shining the AB's bench. Superb talent. Nailing the pressure shots, and putting a smile on his coaches faces.
Great individual talent, one of the best I've ever seen. Is he a better 10 than Richie M though. Certainly more talented with ball in hand but Richie seems more of a team player able to control a games tempo & his whole backline. He'll spot opportunities for team mates & put them on scoring positions with great passes, Beauden is more likely to score himself than set-up teammates. Both brilliant and totally different. Good problem for the ABs to have.
As much as it excites me to see Blues maintaining hope of winning the inaugural SR Aotearoa - damn it Chiefs, you're better than this.
They are having a bad run by their standards but they played well in this game if it wasn't for that penalty they would have taken the game
Don’t forget the chiefs are just playing nz teams which is a lot harder, if this was just the normal super rugby the chiefs would have a win by now.

Dare I say they shifted Beudy to 10 because he wasnt playing well at 15 - kicking too much and fiving away posession. Seems to have got his mojo back at first five and is running more and asking questions. Great game.

The more Beaudy gets his hands on the pill the more dangerous his team is.. why they moved him to fullback still baffles me, we needed that running 10 in the semis against England.

Great tension right to the end!...The AB's number 10 looking good after his stint at 15. i reckon the choice to play him in his accustomed role paid dividends on this day. Excellent 'last seconds' defence; really top-drawer, so 'Great win Blues'; gutted for the Chiefs though. Narrow margins between their defeats, but a tiny miss is as good as a mile.

@@Schokootto Yep, I think he is genuinely world-class at 10, and has been for some years now, however he is certainly not world-class at 15. Again, for me, the stint at 15 did him no harm, but his team thrive better with him in his fly-half position when they're under the pump.

No he isn't. The chiefs have played some great rugby under him and have been unlucky more than once. Im not a huge fan of his but Im not about to start bagging him. His record speaks for itself

Is it Lady luck or are they playing the wrong game? Keeping it tight and playing Warren ball may be all that NH teams can do, but against Super Rugby quality defences you need to take more risks.

For me, even in tight play the Blues had an abrasive edge that seems lacking in the Chiefs just now. Paddy's try was built on tough abrasive, tight as a gin, impact. Boshier's kicking the ball into touch on 40,was like "F### this, we need to re-group!"
Alasdair Duncan it’s bc nz super rugby is just a harder competition cause your only playing nz teams if this was the normal super rugby they would already have a win. It’s just that in nz super rugby all the teams are so equally match that anybody can anybody. Its more of who wants it on that day than who’s got the better team. Cause all the teams are all really good.
