Warren Gatland was aggrieved by a ruck preceding the second Will Jordan try because he felt Jack Goodhue should have been penalized for not rolling away - yet the referee can clearly be heard explaining to Brad Weber why it wasn't a penalty. Weber continued to remonstrate with the referee after the ruck and then Aaron Cruden chipped in. They were so busy remonstrating with the referee that they were caught off guard by the quick throw by Sevu Reece that gave Jordan his second try.
On that quick throw, I believe the laws of the game state that a quick throw many only be taken when a ball that has gone out of play has not touched anything but grass. The angles shown in this video don't show it, but during the live coverage yesterday I saw that the ball had landed on top of what looks like a chilly bin with a white towel/sheet on top of it, situated next to the loudspeaker. Reece collected the ball a second after it had touched this bin and took the quick throw. It would've been hard for the officials to spot this and the referee was busy being remonstrated to by Weber and Cruden anyway.
Overall I think the Crusaders were the better side and deserved the win. Gatland should be used to incorrect calls going his way anyway after the refereeing debacle at the end of the third B & I Lions test in 2017!
Goodhue had no impact on that play, He wasn't in the way at all, just in an awkward position so he sat still until the ball was cleared, and it wasn't even till the next ruck that they threw the ball out so Gatland's clutching at straws there. As for quick throws, it's only if a person touches the ball out of play that a quick throw in can't be taken, most likely because sometimes people will throw it to a player, sometimes they won't, so it can be seen as an advantage. That's my logic behind the rule
but regardless, the crusaders were the better team comfortably. If Gatland's gonna cry about Goodhue's leg then I'm gonna complain about Sam Cane's neck roll at the ruck just before the Chiefs kicked their first 3 (shown in the video) and just before they kicked a 3 pointer late in the game there was a clear knock on missed a couple of rucks before it while they weren't under advantage
@@realjt6951 you can hear the referee clearly explaining to Brad Weber why he ruled Jack Goohue's actions weren't illegal in that ruck. The Chiefs made the mistake of arguing with the referee and for that brief moment they switched off and the Crusaders took full advantage.
I might try and find out exactly how the rules work for quick throws. I was always under the impression that the ball can be thrown in quickly as long as it has only touched grass outside of the field of play.
@@noelburland7169 Quick throw is only disallowed if the ball is touched by a person. The only exception is if a player takes it into touch they don't count so the opponent can take the ball from them and take a quick throw. Apart from that, as long as it's the first person to collect the ball they can take the throw. It can hit as many objects, trees, chilly bins or towels as you want and the throw can be taken

To beat the Crusaders at home is a mammoth task but the chiefs did give a good fight. The wet conditions didnt help. Hoping for drier weather next time. Player’s should know that the ball was still playable given the fact that it wasn’t a penalty nor the ball was touched on the sidelines. In in other words don’t switch off until the last whistle goes for the end of the game.lol classic example of being caught napping
As a Chiefs fan, disagree, until the whistle blows, you don't stop. Goodhue must've bee close to not rolling away on that ruck though. But we blew it.
They don't have the best angle on here but the Chiefs tackled player had wrapped him up, was clearly holding him down, attempting to win a penalty. Great reffing
Martin refs don’t go up to players to start chatting the only way that type of convo from today starts is by the players. So maybe instead of blaming the refs learn to blame the adult rugby player who was more worried about whinging to the ref like a child rather then playing to the whistle. The chiefs only have themselves to blame for that try like yes some may argue that it could of been a penalty. The chiefs got away with 3 or 4 knock ons that were missed or called knocked back by the ref that when the crusaders had the ball were called knock ons even when knocked back. So it’s stupid to single out one moment when both teams were advantaged by missed calls or different interpretations on different rules
