Not many T&J fans like the Gene Deitch shorts but I think they have their funny moments. My favorite is " Carmen Get It".
My dad loves “Dicky Moe.” My favorite is “Mouse into Space.”
I Like "Mouse Into Space", "Buddies Thicker Than Water", And My Dad Likes " Landing Stirping"

Many Deitch T&J's used the opening theme variant as opened "Jerry's Cousin" (1951). The exceptions were "Calypso Cat," "The Tom And Jerry Cartoon Kit," "Tall in the Trap," "Sorry Safari," and "Carmen Get It."

And because of that, I think they're the only better-than-average episodes of this era.
When it comes to the MGM cartoon logo of this era, some of the Gene Deitch shorts had Leo roaring twice just like the MGM movie logo at the time, whereas many others had him roaring only once while one cuts him off in the middle of his second roar and another cuts him off halfway through his first roar. Only two shorts have variations of the MGM logo that are integrated into the cartoons' animation style.
I have mixed feelings about "Buddies Thicker Than Water," as it was the first Tom and Jerry cartoon I remember seeing (can't verify if it was the first one I ever saw, though). But the rest of the Deitch era, no thank you. I found them to be a bit weird for my taste (and this is from someone who enjoyed the movie "Fantastic Planet," and the animation for that one was beyond weird!)I found out from a source that Deitch did not like T&J because of the violence involved, but then he goes and gives Tom an abusive owner, and then Tom ends up getting clobbered. I don't know if he ever came out on top in any of Deitch's cartoons, but at least Hanna and Barbera and Chuck Jones gave him some (for example, "Million Dollar Cat"). Makes me wonder if Deitch was a cat hater?
4:15- Tedd Pierce and his partner originally wrote "Tall in the Trap" as a "Speedy Gonzales" cartoon. When Warner Brothers passed on the idea, they rewrote it for Tom & Jerry, and sold it to Gene Deitch instead.
It was the only Gene Deitch cartoon to feature a preview of the cartoon. ALSO, a gag was borrowed from 1948's "The Windblown Hare".

Episodes 10, 12, and 13 were released in theaters. Note the MPAA symbol on the title cards. I wonder if Westrex was the official sound system and why it wasn't pasted.
Episodes 1 - 6, 8 and 12 used the theme music variant that opened the Hanna/Barbera-directed "Jerry's Cousin" (1951).
@@Rlotpir1972 - This was apparently as the contract with Mr. Deitch (and producer William Snyder) was about to conclude.

I remember Clint Clobber was here in Down and Outing, High Steaks and Sorry Safari with Tom and Jerry.

Honestly, I feel this is the inverse of the Chuck Jones era.
Where the slapstick and characters are off, but the character designs are really charming.
Jones' shorts had solid slapstick and character, but I thought the designs themselves were ugly.
Aired these the turner print versions?
