This performance reminds me what a unique singer has left us. The only consolation -- if one can call it this way -- is that that musically flawless Whitney had gone already many years before she died. So at least we don't have to ask ourselves "What would have been if she had lived, how many performances like this one could she still have pulled off?" But nevertheless, it's an awful loss. She and Michael Jackson were THE musical stars of my childhood. Now they're gone, although I'm only 29.
I remember being like 4yrs old my older sister would babysit me and always played Whitney's album and it would soothe me to sleep. That will always be one of my beloved childhood memories.

For real!. She almost had it all - didn't appear to have built a dynasty, but left a legacy, impacted several generations, and a system (music industry). Can't help but notice what seemed like a self-fulfilling prophecy as it relates to the Bodyguard. Film was centered around the Grammy and attempts at her life. She also did say 'when your time is up, it's up'. Her passing was also centred around the Grammy - and it is also quite likely someone passed her out - death still mysterious.
