No kidding. This was my very first Castlevania. My older brother brought me this game for my birthday and just looking at the front cover was enough for me to not touch this game for years. Hit my preteen years and built the courage to finally insert the cartridge into my SNES. And from that moment this game went on to become one of my fondest titles for the console...
I definitely didn't find it to be too scary when beating this game at age 5 or 6. I did however, find it to be absolutely mesmerizing and thrilling. The ambiance and mystique, the powerful and beautiful melody, how it all comes together; there isn't anything quite like Super CV4
This track has such a good, yet complex story to tell along with the visuals. Simon - bloodied, beaten, down but not out. Dracula - Contemplative of everything he's ever done, lights Simon's way with the guiding fires (Which says a lot if you ask me. Guiding your adversary to yourself).
This is THE soundtrack. Chilling, terrifying and mysterious, you know that every time you pass a lighting wall flame mixed with this background music you are getting closer to the final boss... Let's pays respect to Konami composers, they are video games Beethovens.

As you walk down the eerie hallway, the torches violently burst, leaving a trail of hellish light behind you. As you get closer to the end of the what seems endless tunnel, you smell and feel the mist and cold air. The moonlight radiates the long staircase which leads into the den of the devil.
02:49 And Simon's whip slices the air one last time, eventually beheading the Lord of Darkness. And as Vlad's body starts to fall, the first rays of the rising sun break into the great hall and smite the shadows. Simon then raises his eyes to the heavens, whispering a prayer of relief as he falls to his knees, the holy light engulfing his bruised body, washing the pain away. And as the last ounce of evil burns out in the atmosphere, the ground starts to shake, walls start to crumble, Simon runs down the long staircase which leads out of the den of the Devil.
Man this one brings back memories. Very first time I played Castlevania IV was actually against Dracula. My friends had gotten the game and got up to Dracula but couldn't figure out how to beat him. They called me to come over and after I watched them fail about 20+ more times thinking they could still pull it off, they finally hand the controller to me. Took down Dracula in 2 tries. First off, they couldn't even get past Dracula's first form. So when I got Dracula to 2nd form that was the first time any of us had seen it. I died the first time to it, but won the 2nd time around once I figured out where to look for the lightning bolts and where they were going to hit.

Tombstone with the name Dracula. Struck by lightning. Bat flies into the night sky. Fog starts rolling in. Cue haunting 16 bit music. Every one hundred years the forces of good mysteriously start to weaken. Thus, the power of Dracula starts to revive itself. His power grows stronger and stronger every one hundred years. Dracula has revived many times. However, his sinister actions have been consistently thwarted by the Belmont family. It’s been one hundred years since the last confrontation between Dracula and the Belmont family. But now the serenity of Transylvania is being threatened by destructive forces.
