Can You Beat Far Cry 3 With Only A Machete? (in text form)
The game begins with all these rascals behaving as typical college aged children. Shots, turtles, general douchbaggery, you tell by their hats that they’re just asking to be kidnapped by pirates and sold into a life of slavery and possible torture. Oh, well this is a nice surprise. Being tied up and trapped in what may or may not be a bamboo box would be fun if it I weren’t trapped in there two.
While Grant and I make our escape, allow me to explain a little bit about this run. I said “Machete” in the title because you start with the machete as your melee weapon, but you can also get a knife which I eventually upgraded to. What can’t I use to [bonk] people and animals? Pretty much everything. No firearms, no flamethrowers, no grenades, no molotov cocktails, no bow and arrow, no running people over, no throwing knives, no anything else. I can only use the knife or machete I have equipped in the melee weapon slot.
Because I’m trash at sneaking, it took several attempts to half-way escape. Grant, the typical older brother who knows how to do combat [bonk] and promises to keep me safe, got shot in the neck, I sat back, laughed, didn’t attempt to hold him, ran into the jungle and eventually escaped into the water where I blacked out, had a nightmare about a game logo, and woke up in a bed.
Dennis gave me a tattoo without my permission, seemed like a weird thing for someone to do, he gave me a machete, held my hand, showed me around the village, and sent me off to buy a gun. Far Cry 3 is unfortunately more like Bioshock Infinite and less of a Bioshock because you don’t have the option of wielding the machete in your hand as your main weapon. I can’t remove the pistol, but I can sure as hell waste all of the ammo I bought with Dennis’s money.
My island adventure begins now. With my empty handgun and machete dangling dangerously at my side, I approached the first radio tower, discovered that you have to hold Square for like a year to loot containers, got bit by a snake, looked down, and successfully de-activated the towers radio broadcast.
After I showed Denise my map, I was rewarded with 2 guns that are less than worthless to me, and was instructed to go skin some wildlife. Apparently [bonk]ing piglet’s entire family is enough to master the jungle. On the way to the farm, I looted an abandoned shack. Looting containers is something I don’t do much of in this play trough because there’s not much to find that’s worth looking for. Money is only useful for buying medical supplies and occasionally body armor. Normally you’d spend it on weapons and ammo, but that is irrelevant in this run.
At the farm, I [bonk]ed a few pigs, boars to be more precise, and conquered the PTSD I’ve had for about 6 minutes by going back into the water to find the blue plant. I returned to Dennis and used my new found nature trash to create 2 Medical Syringes, upgraded my sack to allow it to contain 32 items, and learned the stab in the back s[bonk].
I got in the truck and noticed that the camera really zoomed in for some reason. You field of view freaks may dislike this part. It was here that I got my first taste of real combat. There are pirate booties just asking to be plundered.

You can also get a katana by collecting a couple WW2 letters, tribal knife was a uplay thing that got added into the base game.

Oh yeah you can, when you play NG+ Infamous the damn shovels are your bff. They more or less 1 shot anything if you hit them correctly

That was actually one of my strongest builds before I discovered the crafting triad break. Restoration, heavy armor and block only. I'd get the restoration perk that restored fatigue while you healed and just bash away.

It's kind of amazing that FC3 still looks so great, and at the time it ran better than almost anything I'd ever played on my PC. FC3, with graphics that still look good, ran drastically better than Minecraft or Skyrim. lol

@@IndyColaTV No. All your would need to is go to Solitude and get the mission, go to the Pegalius wing, and do the quest. There's no combat in the mission. (Mostly). Its definitely possible.
KrazyAust actually you need to be level 10 to start it and it would take awhile to get there unless he cheese levels something non combat up like soul trap on a dead body/creature

As a kid I was pretty poor so I really only got one or two new games a year. Far cry 3 was one of my favorites for years. It got to the point where I stopped fast traveling because it made games more fun for me. Now by default when I play an open world game I refuse to fast travel
We were all young and stupid at a time, one time I put a soda can tab on a vacuum cleaner plug because it fit perfectly - like a match made in heaven - and then plugged it into the outlet. It exploded sparks out all over 7 year old me and that room still doesn't have electricity. I was unharmed but the memory still haunts me.

I actually don't think it is possible. There are several situations that come to mind that would be hard, if not impossible, without a ranged weapon.
Now, you can hold the machete out constantly in Farcry 2, so you should try the machete only challenge for Farcry 2 next!

Re4 is the best game evah
Except it's extremely easy to soft-lock yourself since ammo can be pretty scarce at times and you don't get to choose what ammo drops from enemies.
The only viable weapon you could do this with is the Thompson or a Maxed Out Handgun (any style except Samurai Edge) and use kneecapping to melee combos to conserve ammo.
There are times where you HAVE to shoot something so knife only is also out.
I like how he didn't edit out his phone interrupting him, but he complains about them not putting legs in the game. Such amazing attention to detail.
If we think about this, this man has put these restrictions on him, these outrageous ones and ridiculously funny ones, but imagine what this legend of a man could do with no restrictions

Well the problem with that is the drug "furious" can one shot almost anything, some of the main missions like killing John seed REQUIRE you to kill him with a airplane and plenty of the main missions require you to use vehicles ect

You got to stun the Titans plus I think it takes like 30 batarangs to take out a non-hurt thug with a gang of other thugs.

Easily. Fists are a surprisingly good way to fight in KCD. You swing faster than most weapons once your unarmed skill is high. You can jab people to death while wearing juggernaut armor.

Far Cry 2 is still alive and kicking with Multiplayer. The map editor is bananas and people are still making maps.
I couldn't go more than 5 hours in the game without random enemy spawns killing me and making me lose hours of progress until I just quit. Yes I'm one of those types who forgets to save so I really need some kind of auto-save system. That was my only complaint with what little I played of FC2.

When you were climbing the first tower I, out of instinct, screamed "beware of the snake!" Haven't played the game for 4 years now but I still remember that god damn snake. Great game.
If you're considering doing a knife only run, you can get the tanto by finding 6 lost letters. It's stronger than the base machete.
